I was asked to create a lesson using the ASSURE Method for 1 of 3 different scenarios. I had to elaborate on each letter of the acronym as it was shown in examples during class.

Assure Method Assignment- Scenario 1
A: Analyze Learners
The students are all first grade special education. The class has slightly more boys than
girls. There is a variety of races in the classroom, meaning there are multiple different culture
types. Cultures will be coming from white students, African American students, and Latino
students. Half of the classroom has ADHD and will need accommodations when it comes to the
learning methods.
S: State Objectives
With 98% accuracy, the First grade students will recite, and describe the months of the
year, with the use of a song, calendar, story book, and computer game by the end of two weeks.
S: Select methods, media, and materials
The students will listen to and sing along with a song that is played off a computer that
lists the months of the year in order every morning for the entire 2 weeks. Using a dry erase
calendar students will get to take turns marking the name of the months everyday for the entire
unit. A book about the four seasons and what month the seasons fall will be read during the unit.
Finally, using a computer game, the students will be placed in groups and have to sort the
months by season and place them in the correct order. Each segment will be short and to the
point because fear of losing the student's attention.
U: Utilize media, and materials
I will preview all of my materials before the lesson, I will make sure that each activity is
effective in reaching the objective. I will listen to the song ahead of time to ensure that the audio
is clear and easy to keep up with. I will also make sure that the computer game is working
correctly and is up to date for the students. I will prepare the materials before class to ensure that
no time is lost. I will get the computer running prior to student arrival, have calendar cleaned off
and ready to be filled in again, and song ready to be played when students arrive. I will prepare
the environment by arranging the student's chairs in a position they can all see, hear, and be
engaged. I will inform students of the activities that we will do before class starts, they will also
be aware of the objective they are expected to reach and when they are to do so. I will provide
the learning experience by using the methods I explained in the previous section, as well as
making all students participate in the activities.
2. R: Require Learner Participation
Each day I will require the participation of students individually as well as in a group
format. Every day I will select a different student to lead the song in front of the class, as well as
fill in the dry-erase calendar. Student must participate in the computer game by working
together as a team to determine the order and seasons that each month falls.
E: Evaluate and Revise
During each activity I will evaluate students' performance and watch them in their groups
to see if they are answering questions correctly. They will be expected to actively participate in
all areas of the unit.
