I Analyze Learners
They are special education students in the first grade. Their are 10 boys and 7 girls. In
the class 7 of the students have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). The class is
70% white, 20% African - American, and 10% Latino.
II State Objective
Objective: The students will learn their month of the year by learning a song, making a
calendar, and playing a game. By the end of the week the students will demonstrate and recite
the months of the year in order with 100% accuracy.
III Select Methods
Methods: The students will be listening to a soundtrack of a song that helps them
remember the months of the year. They will also be designing calendars with the holiday’s in
each month to help them remember the months. Lastly, they will play a game where they have
to stand up and put the months in order.
Media: The teacher will be using audio (music) to play the CD that runs the song, and
the students will also be using crafts like construction paper and makers to design the calendars
they will be making. Also the teacher will use construction paper for the name tags and string for
the game the students will be playing.
Materials: The teacher will be using a CD and radio to play the CD that another 1st
grade teacher had already for the song that they will be listening to, construction paper,
markers, crayons, colored pencils, and string.
IV Utilize media
Preview the Materials: The teacher will test the CD to make sure it is working properly, then the
teacher will make sure all the crafts are working like the markers and the pencils are sharpened,
lastly the teacher will make sure there are enough name tags for the game for all of the
students.
Prepare the Materials: The teacher will prepare the song in the CD player before the class gets
there, also the teacher will set out the craft materials for the calendars for the students to go get
and lastly the teacher will have the name tags for all of the months of the year ready so the
students can just put them on.
Prepare the Enviorment: When the students do the song they will all be on their assignment
spots on the carpet in the middle of the room. When they do their calendars they will be at their
desk so they have space to write and create what they want, and when the students are playing
the game they will be split half and half on the carpet in the middle of the room so they can see
everything.
2. V Require Learner Participation
When the students listen to the song we will gather as a class twice a day and play the
song out loud for the whole class After that when they begin making calendars the students will
pick out the craft items they want to use to design their calendar, go back to their seats and
work on the calendar by themselves. Also the students will be listening to the months of the year
song while they do the calendar. Lastly, the students will be split into two teams, one team will
have 8 students and the other team will have 9, and then we will play the game.
VI Evaluate and Revise
At the end of the week the teacher should be able to evaluate if the students have
grasped the concept by having them recite the months of the year song without music, turning in
their calendar and making sure it is correct, and by successfully playing the matching game.
The teacher should be observing the students throughout the entire time, especially during the
game to check who really understand the concept and who does not.
