This is the narrative explaining my process of using gimp for the digital imaging assignment.

Using Gimp
When I first began Gimp I experienced many issues as far as understanding how
to use the tools. So the first thing I did was go to Lynda.com and watch some of their training
videos, I watched "Exploring the Gimp Interface" and "Working with basic selection tools". The
videos guided me through using the tools, and how to get started. Once I got an understanding
of how to use the tools, I choose my pictures, and what I wanted to make. I thought of many
different possibilities, but I decided to use a melting globe on an ice cream cone to show the
damage of fossil fuels to the planet. I choose my images and began to use the "Lasso tool" to
crop the images the way I wanted them. Next, I had to change the background on both pictures
to transparent rather than the default, white. This was particularly difficult for me to find the
correct tool, so I had to watch more training videos that was specific to this step. Finally, when I
got all of my pictures cropped and transparent, I sat the globe on top of the ice cream cone
using different layers. It took me a couple of tries to get the layers to correctly sit on top of each
other. Lastly, I added the text to the image, I centered it, changed the text color, and bolded the
letters. When I was completely done I saved the image as a JPEG file.
