Unit Plan- Exploring Alternative Energy Sources

2. I will teach alternative forms of energy to a
class of general education 6th graders.
There are 20 students 11 girls, and 9 boys.
The class has a very low attention span,
and tends to work better with a visual or
hands on approach.
3. With 95% accuracy, my students will
explain and demonstrate alternative
ways to obtain energy with the help of
notes, models, videos, and computer
games by the end of one week.
4. Day 1:
› Notes will be given to introduce what
alternative energy is, and different types.
Day 2:
› Students will listen to a podcast/YouTube
video and discuss.
Day 3:
› Students will view a virtual model of an ideal
location for alternative energy.
5. Day 4:
› Students will play an interactive computer
game to see how alternative energy works in
different locations.
Day 5:
› Students will work in groups to create an
online story to demonstrate how to efficiently
power a given land formation.
