Personal Statement : My Underlying Fear
The reason I picked these two individuals to interview is because I knew that they were both in a relationship and I knew them well
enough personally that they would be comfortable talking about personal moments in their lives that would allow me to fully examine
and evaluate their responses. My underlying fear was that both of the interviews would bring about very similar data with no room for
comparisons, but thankfully my fears proved unwarranted. Both of the interviewees had a vested interest in happiness and relationships.
To code my two interviewees, I will first regard what characteristics or backgrounds each person had that could have influenced their
thoughts on happiness or relationships. Such traits could be their demographics, as both of them were Hispanic and were born in a
different country before moving to the United States when they were very young. Both are bilingual in English and Spanish. Both have a
younger sibling and a strong maternal figure. Employment status, another coding variable, was different between them. Interviewee 1 had
had jobs, but was no longer working, but interviewee 2 continues to work his job during the graveyard shift. Both are in intimate
relationships, but the happiness from each relationship varies between the two, along with the thoughts of their partners. Interviewee 1
rarely spoke of problems she had with her significant other while interviewee 2 listed several traits that he found damaging in his

Introduction
Fatherhood is the biggest challenge a man can take on in our society. Any man can become a father on the virtue of how sex has derived
from it natural intentions of reproducing, to a form of temporary satisfaction or lust. Many men become fathers of a child rather it was
their true intention or an unexpected occurrence following lust. Myself not too long ago was blessed with the opportunity of becoming a
father. God has other plans for me and my girlfriend and now I am not in a position of fatherhood or the expectancy. For this assignment,
I researched and interviewed four peers of mine that are either fathers or expecting to be fathers. My intentions or this research is to find
the answer to the question: "is fatherhood the greatest accomplishment, or worse anxiety of manhood"?
Process
To answer my question about fatherhood, I interview four peers of mine: two that are new fathers, and two that are expecting to be
fathers. The two men who are expected fathers are my cousin Spencer, and his teammate in Oregon, Nick. Ironically, they are both 21–
year–old college basketball players whose significant others, will be giving birth during the process of the basketball season. The question
I asked them are as followed: "what are your feelings about becoming a father", "how have you been involved in your wife's or
girlfriends' pregnancy", "what part will you play in your child's birth", "what part would you like to play", "what do you think being a
"good father"

Siobhan Fallon, has a Master of Fine Art from the New School in New York City in addition to being a military spouse, is the author of
"You Know When the Men Are Gone" a short story collection book. In the short story "You Survived the War Now Survive the
Homecoming" Fallon writes a gripping and enticing story about Carla and her beloved husband, Ted, who returns from war as a changed
man. Carla is struggling with Ted because he is easily enraged and poses as a threat to Carla and their seven month year old child.
Throughout the story Ted and Carla must work together to bridge the change that war brought upon them. In 2011 "You Know When the
Men Are Gone" was published, during this time, the war in Iraq was coming to end and soldiers were returning home from deployment.
Fallon's primary audience consisted of American civilians unaffiliated with a military family or lifestyle. Therefore the audience may be
aware of the life of a military spouse but not entirely informed on the effects war has on a family. This audience shares similar values on
family, for example how important honesty and patience is within families. Although returning home is the most exuberant time for a
soldier longing for their family, Fallon's use of third person perspective in the short story "You Survived the War Now Survive the

Design Overview
A quantitative correlational research design was used to measure the effect that living situations/familial support has on student's GPAs.
An online survey (Appendix 2) was used to collect data on independent and dependent variables. The independent variables included
living situation (e.g. living with parents, spouse/significant other, spouse and kids, friends/roommates, alone, or with grandparents),
support systems available to the students in the DSN program, interruptions that were experienced by the students, the students preferred
location to study, and how many hours a week was spent studying. The independent variables were factors that were considered to have a
possible effect on GPA. The primary dependent variable was GPA; though how many hours a week spent studying was also used as a
dependent variable against the independent variable of familial support.
Sample and Testing
An online survey consisting of ten questions was sent out to all students enrolled at DSN. A total of 638 students were invited to
participate in the study. Students from the DSN Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) completion program, BSN first–degree program,
Associate Degree of Nursing (AND) program, and Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN) to ADN program participated in the survey resulting
in a total sample size of 100 students.

In the essay Sex, Lies, and Conversation Deborah Tannen focuses on the differences and lack of communication between men and women
though observations. She came to the conclusion that men were not lacking in their listening, but they were however listening in a
different way than the women did. On the other hand, men aren't the only people that have terrible communication skills. In many ways,
these differences between the two genders can cause major conflict when not understood by the opposite side. A few examples of lack of
communication may be when women don't decide where they would like to eat, men who walk away from an argument rather than

Using this, an individual could set a reminder so that they would be reminded three hours before their partner's important interview to
wish them good luck. One could hear their partner describe in July a material item that they want, and put a note about it into reminders
so as to notified several weeks before the winter holidays. An individual could be reminded of anniversaries, birthdays, and events that
are important to their significant other.
Another aspect of this reminders element is the concept of saved texts. This integrant would allow couples to select messages sent to
them, and to add them to a separate folder. This way, one could look back on the messages sent to them days, weeks, months, or years

Saved texts will grant couples the ability to remember some of the meaningful words exchanged with one another.
A final attribute of the reminders feature is the ability to assign different levels of importance to messages sent using Tandem. Every
message sent will have a default setting of importance 1, meaning that the message is no different than any other notification that you
might receive. Messages designated with levels 2 or 3 would have exclamation points regarding the level of importance, and would
appear as such on their partner's lock screen, showing that these messages have higher priority.

common, it is making understanding ones tone and view on a conversation difficult to understand. People aren't necessarily able to

I personally can see myself not being able to concentrate in class as much because I have a significant other that texts me as well as all
my other friends who I don't see all the time. Not only that but social media as well which makes being able to concentrate in class

Reflection About Relationships
In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we considered cheating to be. This past July, I
found out that he had spent the night in his car with one of my closests friends, and his ex–girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was
not comfortable with him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing that he had done something I wasn't
comfortable with, he told me he was up late playing Halo, and kept his outing from me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our
boundaries, there were no boundaries to break. Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your significant other

This is just one of the many examples in the book that show that the government can control your life. Not to mention how they also

My Problem with Procrastination
Upon further review, it appears that what I thought was a problem is more of an issue. As well as I needed to add a problem to my
previous essay, so I would like to list a problem I have with procrastination. I seem to be dealing with increased instances where I have
