1. Target Age and Gender
I will aim my opening
sequence at 15-22 year
olds as they were the
largest contributors to my
survey. In addition, 72% of
my respondents were
female which I will also
consider for my opening
sequence.
Sub-genre
When asked ‘Whatare your
favouritehorror sub-genres?’
46% of the participants of my
survey said that they liked
Supernaturalhorrors. I think this
is because11% of people said
that the thing they found scariest
in a horror film was ‘the
Unknown’. In addition, 31% (The
majority) said that ‘jump scares’
were their biggest fear, which are
common in Supernaturalhorrors.
Overall audience to appeal to
I think that the best marketto aim
for is definitely the blockbuster
mainly category as in the 2012
survey by Film3Sixty, 59% of
people said that they wereof this
category. My own Target audience
research survey applies as 86% said
they were females and in
Film3Sixty’s research it was said
that of this blockbuster mainly
category 53 % were women and
they were mostlikely to be aged
16-24 which werethe majority of
people on my own survey.
Protagonist and Antagonist
In terms of the protagonist’s gender 55% of people said they
did not mind and it did not affect the overall narrative.
In addition, the fear factor of the antagonistwas ranked the
second highest of importance in a horror film making this vital
to my opening sequence. This also links to the ‘Whatis your
biggest fear?’ question where almost 40% of people said
clowns. Therefore, I think I should definitely consider that my
antagonistbe a Clown.
Target Audience: habits
In terms of the buying habits of my
target audience Nike, Adidas and
Apple are very respected brands with
15-22 year olds. Furthermore, fast
food is a popular trend for example
McDonalds and Domino’s pizza.
Social media is also featured as the
majority of users areyoung adults.
