It is evident that the majority of
respondents were male in which relates
to our target audience being mainly
male due to being able to relate to the
main character Morgan. Therefore, we
believed that a predominantly male
focus group would give us a clearer
understanding of what are target
audience thinks of the trailer.

From our results, it is apparent that
half of respondents stated that half
prefer the genre of horror. In addition,
no respondents stated that their
preferred genre was psychological
thrillers in which is the genre of out
film trailer, although it could be
suggested that this due to the genre
having a generally more niche
audience than the genre of horror or
action.

film trailer. Additionally, the next
highest film was seven which had a
total of two respondents.
Furthermore, none of out
respondents had watched Donnie
Darko or Altered Minds.

17% stating they did not view a trailer
beforehand. Therefore it is evident that film
trailers are often used to attract the
audience to view the film as well as give
them a clearer understanding of the
narrative than from a film poster or
magazine.

50% of respondents believed the trailer was a
psychological thriller in which is correct. On the
other hand 1 respondent believed it was a
thriller as well as another being unsure and the
last respondent stating it was a horror. This
could potentially be due to the imaginary friend
reflecting a scary character therefore could
represent horror. In addition, the pursuit which
leads to the murder of two characters could
suggest to the audience the film genre is a
thriller.
In addition, one respondent stated it was a
psychological thriller due to the narrative
revealing a ‘battle constantly in his head,’
therefore reflecting the mental health issues in
which the main character experiences.
Furthermore, one respondent stated it was a
thriller due to the trailer ‘playing on the mind.’

in the cinema in addition to an individual stating that
the trailer looks ‘interesting’ therefore it is evident
that our trailer informed and entertained the audience
during our feedback group.
9. 8.WHAT DO YOU THINK THE STORYLINE
REPRESENTS?
From our results, it is evident that all respondents understood the
storyline to our trailer. An individual stated, ‘a boy is tormented by
his peers who is then assisted by an entity to help take the revenge
on those that did him wrong.’ This response clearly represents the
main character of Morgan and his imaginary friend throughout the
trailer. In addition, another comment stated, ‘how a person is driven
to the extreme; to try and escape the situation through any means
possible.’ This also reflects the storyline due to Morgan killing two
characters in which have bullied him and due to the pressure from his
imaginary friend caused by his mental health issues, he feels that’s
how he can escape his imaginary friend.

scenes include the dead bodies as well
as the bullying scene located at the
beginning of the trailer.

15 certificate in which is the correct
certificate we had chosen. One respondent
believed it was a 12A. This could be due to
the trailer not revealing any violent acts such
as not showing the murder of the two female
characters.
12. 11. WHAT IMPROVEMENTS WOULD
YOU SUGGEST?
4 out of the 6 respondents believe that there were no immediate
changes they believed could be changed. Although, one respondent
suggested that we could make a ‘dramatic movement within the
trailer, more of a jump scare.’ This could suggest the individual
believes that the trailer needs to generate more suspense to
encourage the audience to view the trailer. In addition, from our
responses an individual stated that we could ‘add more to the sound
effects- layer sounds together.’ This could improve the audiences
attention to the trailer as well as suspense and mystery.
