2. OUR AUDIENCE
• Our target audience was of people aged 14-30 as results from
the survey that I completed as well as research, have shown this
to be a popular age category for horror films.
• In the survey that people anonymously completed, the results
showed some preferences of people and horror films. This
included preferred sub genre, how easily they scare and more
which helps our sequence appeal to a wider audience.
3. • The most preferred sub genre from the sample I
questioned was psychological. This worked out in our
favour as we had chosen to make our sequence of the
psychological sub genre of horror so we had to make
sure that this way clear throughout.
• The sample that answered my survey also had a
majority vote for having a deeper meaning in a film.
We tried to incorporate that by trying to make it seem
like everything could’ve been in the protagonists
head. This also helped us to stick to the psychological
sub genre and create narrative enigmas which would
be answered later in the film.
4. • The data shows that the majority of people
sympathise more with female protagonists.
• Conventions of the horror genre will typically
having females playing the victims. They will
also use children as a way of making the
audience relate to their own younger selves.
• We did both of these as they are key
conventions which will help us to reach the
largest audience possible.
5. • Most people said that they scare easily.
• This is important to our piece as it means that
we could involve suspenseful parts to help
build tension.
• The fact that people scare easily is good for
our sequence as there is a part at the end
which has a slight jump scare/is suspenseful.
