What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
One of the technologies that we have learnt about is Adobe Premier Pro; this is editing
software that we found relatively easy to use when editing both our
preliminary task and our final production. We used various tools like the
‘cutting ‘tool to chop and move different parts of our films so that it was
fluid. We also used the ‘colouration’ tool which we used to put filters over
parts of our production to indicate to the audience that this part was ‘back
in time’. We also used the ‘rendering’ tool so that at the end our film was
no longer choppy. This gave our film a more professional look and
therefore may allow us to gain more marks.
Our media group used the video uploading system, YouTube to learn about different way to
edit on the software we used. This allowed us to learn from in depth tutorials, of various
natures, and apply what was needed to our own work. This enhanced the quality of our
work by allowing us to understand more complex editing techniques. However, this system
is blocked at school so we had to write a plan of what was said and then apply our
knowledge when we were in lessons.
To present our work to our peers, teacher and the examiner we used a website called
‘Blogger.com’ this was a creative way of using
media technologies to present our work. Over the
course of the unit, we experienced various
troubles when uploading pieces of our work, this
slowed us down over all but it meant we had to
think of new and creative ways to present our
work. As we were slowed down, this meant we
had less time to do other things and therefore
had to spend more time out of lessons doing our
work. Although, it gave us the opportunity to
compare our work with other and then improve if needed. I have learnt because of using
this technology that we may need to allow more time for uploading our work to websites as
things can go wrong and hinder our time management.
As a group, we all kept in close contact with each other using ‘Imessage’ as we all have
‘IPhones. This permitted us to be able to keep track of what everyone was
doing and if anyone needed help this was a place for them to ask. It was a
quick and easy way of communicating with each other with ease over the
duration of out coursework. However, sometimes members of our group didn’t
answer and therefore people were stuck without help. We also used email to
send each other work as this was a very time effective way of sending larger
files. Additionally, it saved time as we could send the same things to everyone
at once so no one was getting the work later than anyone else.
We also used the website freesound.com in order for us to put sound over our filming. This
allowed us to use non-copyrighted music so that we do not have to seek permission for us
to be able to use it. This saved us time as a group and therefore we had more time to do
other things in regard to our film.
