2. Types of research
• There are two types of research, primary and
secondary. Primary research is first hand
research such as handing out questionnaires
and doing interviews. Secondary research is
using existing evidence, for example doing
internet research.
3. Categories of target audience
• Target audience is primarily done on age and
gender, however other areas include location,
special interests, ethnicity and level of
income. These will all be taken into
consideration when deciding who the film will
be aimed at.
4. Comparable info
From looking at the table you can see that
people in the ages 15-24 were the most
common when going to see Paranormal
Activity 4 at 72%.
This shows that teenagers and people in
their early twenties are most interested in
horror movies.
The genders were evenly split showing
that the film did not favor either gender
and generated an even income from both.
5. Comparable info
From looking at the table we can see that once
again teenagers and young adults were the most
popular age group for going to see a
supernatural thriller/horror with a huge majority
of 69%. Supernatural thrillers tend to appeal
more to younger adults as they are looking for a
thrill.
The amount of male and females going to see
the film was closely split again. Showing that
supernatural thrillers don’t favor either gender
6. Comparable info
Once again “The Purge” had similar results to
the other supernatural thrillers concerning
gender and popular age groups that attended
the film.
However this time the male percentage that
attended was higher by 5% this may have
been because men cope better with the
horror and supernatural elements than
women.
