Natural Heart Observance Month Research Paper
Get Outside and Be Active!
My selected Natural Heart Observance month is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, which
is observed in May. Being healthy and active has been a goal of mine ever since I can remember. I
have always strived to keep fit for sports and to stay healthy. In high school, I was ran year round for
cross country and track. Running and keeping active was a high priority for me, rather than a chore.
I was able to make some of my best friends for life through running. Running required much mental
and physical discipline all the time. Having people that surrounded me who also believed in these
similar virtues made it that much worthwhile. Physical fitness and sports best relates to the
dimensions of wellness of physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Physical activity has been proven to stimulate various brain chemicals that can leave us feeling
happy and relaxed. Dr. Mary de Groot of Indiana University ran a study on the link of depression
and diabetes with exercise. With the diabetes patients, she had them perform a 12–week exercise
and cognitive–behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention program. The group that exercised showed
improvements both in depression and in blood sugar levels. (Weir) Working out consistently can
also help tremendously with our self–esteem and confidence. Exercise can boost our energy by
improving our endurance and muscle strength that can benefit us in daily life situations such as at
work or school. It may seem counter intuitive to say, but expending energy can help us gain more
energy. It can help your cardiovascular system work more effectively by delivering oxygen and
nutrients to your tissues. More than 90% of studies indicate that exercise increases energy for nearly
every group, ranging from sedentary to healthy adults to cancer patients. Exercise can also make us
sleep more efficiently by being able to fall asleep faster and reach an even deeper sleep. This effect
happens over time the more consistent we exercise. Research has shown that exercise has a long
term effect on sleep, but having quality sleep has a short term effect on our

Martial Fitness Training Program Is Important At Every...
Martial Fitness Training
Power, Body Mechanics and Flexibility
This martial fitness training program has been tailor made to meet the specific demands of martial
artists and warrior athletes.
Why is fitness training for martial artists important at every level of their training?
In short...
Done properly it will sharpen your body mechanics, increase mobility and flexibility along with
your ability to generate power (important for a solid base, striking and kicking) and just as
importantly – it will help to counteract the imbalances already currently in your body from previous
injuries or bad habits in training.
Martial Fitness Training Basics
The martial fitness training program below is split into 3 phases encompassing power, body
mechanics and flexibility. Each phase is simply a period of time in which you train in a particular
way to achieve a particular objective. The exercises are different in each phase and build on the ones
performed previously. Each phase requires only 3 sessions a week commitment.
Warming up is essential before any type of physical training and there are scientific studies to back
this up. It 's also important to warm up before each martial fitness training session. Perform 5–10
minutes of light aerobic exercise (jogging, stationery bike, rower, etc.) followed by joint mobility
for every joint and then do some stretches to all the major muscle groups.
Some of the exercises below are unique and you may not be familiar with them. It 's

gender equality, good and flexible work organization permitting better reconciliation of working and
personal life, lifelong learning, health and safety at work, employee involvement and diversity in
working life." (2012) . In an article The Fortune 100 and their Fitness and Wellness Programs, we
can find the examples of such managerial attitude. For instance, Walmart provides its 1.1 million
associates and family members with health care plans with access to affordable, comprehensive
medical coverage. Exxon–Mobil fitness discount program allows employees, retirees and their
families to join top–rated health clubs at substantially discounted rates (2015). Creating a safe
workplace is a matter of great importance. Abraham Maslow defines safety needs as "security... and
freedom from fear, from anxiety and chaos." He argues that "practically everything looks less
important than safety and protection" (1954, p.39). Unfortunately, job security has become an issue
today. Dorie Clark cites in her article the words of Jacob Morgan, a co–founder of the Future of
Work Community, "Job security is a complete myth, as is long–term employment. Companies lay
off employees in droves...by the thousands! They just make sweeping cuts when they need to"
(2014). Evidently, job insecurity negatively affects job satisfaction. Some studies suggest that living
with job insecurity – the "fear" of losing your job – can be more harmful to your health than actually
losing it" (n.d.) Therefore, employment

The Health And Fitness Program At Sandhills Community College
Another student was interviewed: Garrett Cooper, he holds an Associate in Applied Science in
Automotive Technology. Currently, he is in the Health and Fitness Program at Sandhills Community
College. Garrett works at Unilever – a company that produces health care products. Garrett also
went through the Certified Production Training Program at SCC and landed a job at Unilever.
Garrets contend that education in the community college will advance along with technology (e.g.,
more online classes, and less face–to–face classes). Garrett believes that although there will be more
online classes, there will also be more lag time between the students and professors. This would
eventually lead to unnecessary stress on students who may cause a ... Show more content on

more use of internet learning. Further, more tools for different styles of learning will be provided
online. The instructor would have specific tools for a targeted audience of students. Moreover,
tablets will not be a substitute for text books. However assignment will be put into learning videos
and docudramas, and students will respond to those type of learning tools. Lastly, education will be

Just Grow A Pair Short Story
Just do it! Grow a pair! Why are you talking to yourself? Pay attention to him! My head is going
1,000 miles a minute, my palms are as sweaty as if they were attached to an overweight kid running
the mile during fat camp, and I'm pretty sure I can feel the pools of sweat forming underneath my
arms. Each step I take feels like it's heavier. The hallway to the parking garage is becoming longer
and longer as we get (what is supposed to be) closer to the door. This cannot be that hard–can it? I
always see it in those cheesy romantic movies all the damn time. Why the hell am I feeling all these
emotions that I never felt before? What the fuck happened to me? It all started at the beginning of
the fall semester. I came to the first day of Comic Book Writing fifteen minutes early, as usual, and

on his family. Once he started college and moved away from his family, his mom started being a
total bitch to him and nearly ostracized him from the other family members. She would purposely

Speech Title: How To Stay Fit in College
Speech Type: Informative
Audience Analysis
Knowledge: Many listeners have 1st hand knowledge on what it's like being a college kid,
specifically the problem of being broke and busy in college and how hard it is to prioritize personal
fitness, however, this knowledge probably goes without the knowledge of the techniques of staying
fit even with a hectic lifestyle.
Attitudes: The audience more than likely feels some disdain for the topic of fitness. No one likes to
be reminded that they're unfit and need to get active. With this in mind, I will create a positive
attitude about fitness by taking the "work" out of workout and showing how easily attainable it is ...

Main Points: Included in this speech will be a step by step guide on how to prioritize fitness among
a world of other things in our lives that may seem vastly more important, on how to eat healthy even
on a college kids budget, and how to take the work out of workout by making exercise more
convenient and fun.
Relevance: Unfortunately, the statistical possibilities I gave you are very possible and affect all of us

TACFIT® is the original Tactical Fitness System, created by Scott B. Sonnon. Tactical Fitness is
defined as:
Tactical: Of, relating to, or constituting a series of actions, carefully synchronized, coordinated,
planned and executed to achieve a specific end.
Fitness: methods, protocols and principles to physically, mentally and emotionally prepare, mitigate
and compensate for specific occupational, recreational and lifestyle stressors.
Tactical Fitness, therefore, is a contiguous approach for specific physical preparation to enter,
overcome, and recover from stressors in such a way that the individual and team become stronger,
better and healthier from the stressors, rather than deteriorate from them.
The TACFIT system uses 26 workouts, with 4 different levels of challenge, and 6 different protocols
of timing. TACFIT helps anyone access their innate fitness potential, by restoring their function in
reality–based, practical movement: the way your body was designed and has evolved to freely move
without pain. Instead of the conventional "boot camp" mentality, which emphasize unnecessarily

Planning Personal Fitness Program Essay
Planning Personal Fitness Program
Introduction
My personal fitness program is designed to enhance my speed, agility and cardio–vascular fitness,
as well as to improve my skill level in the main parts of tennis. To improve these aspects of my
performance I will be doing a six–week course involving, in particular, a circuit–training course, as
well as numerous endurance runs and fitness techniques, some of which will be included in my
circuit. A circuit involves a series of around 6–10 activities or exercises which each take place at a
'station'. I have 8 stations in my circuit, each focusing on improving separate aspects of tennis and
fitness. The stations are done with very little rest in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For much of my programme I will be working with a partner, which will increase my safety as they
can call for or give help as necessary. I will be training at the Weald Tennis Club in Hassocks, who
will provide me with tennis balls as well as courts and nets that are an appropriate size for my
circuit, or at the school tennis courts where I will need my own balls; I will use my own tennis
racket. The main risk of injury is from overusing my right arm and shoulder, which could cause
overuse injuries such as 'tennis elbow'. To prevent these as best as possible I will be carrying out
thorough warm ups before each session in my programme, and a thorough warm down at the end of
each session.
The stations in my circuit will vary in length to accommodate my different levels of ability for each
of the different stations exercises. The stations in the circuit are all designed in accordance with my
weaknesses and other areas of my game that I want to improve on. They are all very different
exercises, which helps to relieve tedium, as well as giving resting time from the more tiring
activities whilst giving rest from the less arduous ones. Because I am fairly fit from playing tennis
throughout the summer, and from games at school, I will not need to concentrate as hard on the
fitness improving stations in my circuit, though I will be

Exercise For College Students Essay
Exercise For College Students
College life is a time full of fun, friends, activities, classes, and homework. All of these activities
however, add up to a busy life style. Being busy is not in itself harmful but when the busyness
becomes so great that it turns into stress, problems start to arise. The formation of stress leads to
many unhealthy trends, such as lack of sleep, loss of immunity to disease, and a change in
personality traits. How then can stress in the busy lives of college students be reduced? The answer
is a simple one that has long been known; exercise relieves stress. Colleges across the country need
to implement a program of required exercise classes to promote the well being of students.

Those against mandatory exercise say that if students feel it is important to exercise they will create
a program of physical activity on their own and it does not need to be a part of the school. The
problem with this theory is that the majority of people would stop the program if left on their own
without any sort of accountability. For example, a study was done on several different exercise plans
to see what results would happen over time. First the theoretical approach of self–monitoring was
used. This program left individuals to attend exercise sessions on their own without any intervention
from others. The overall observation was that interest in attending and exercising was lost after
about four weeks. Next the approach of stages of change was used. This program used four different
groups. One group received weekly calls with structured inquiry to see how and when the subjects
were personally exercising. The second group received weekly calls with general inquiries about
their exercise habits. The third group received a call every three weeks with general inquiries of
exercise, and the last group received calls every three weeks with structured inquiries. The results
were, that 63% of the subjects who were called more frequently were regularly exercising as
opposed to only the 22% exercising success rate of those that were called less frequently. Also those

No Parental Care for Reptiles
A majority of domesticated animals have the advantage of having a caretaker who can train them for
different things that can improve their overall fitness. On the contrary many reptiles species have
little parental care. Many reptiles use associative learning and spatial awareness as learning
mechanisms to complete tasks. Studies dedicated to Darwinian fitness in reptiles have only taken
into account different body sizes and athleticism, but rarely has learning ability been a primary focus
in these studies. Theoretically a higher level of learning allows you to adapt more efficiently to your
environment resulting in a greater Darwinian fitness. Darwinian selection has been vastly credited as
the driving force of many traits in lizards. In this experiment the scientists attempt to prove that not
only selection can play a role in influencing many traits in lizard, but environmental effects can

Safe And Comprehensive Flexibility Training Program:...
A safe and comprehensive flexibility training program could not only improve your performance in
the gym and day–to–day activities, but it can also decrease your risk of muscle imbalance injury
caused by muscle atrophy.
A flexible body increases physical performance by promoting muscular relaxation, which in turn
minimizes your chances of injuring your body.
Stretching allows you to increase muscle flexibility and joint range of motion. When your muscles
are loosened and relaxed, your body can engage in movement easily without resistance and pain.
Properly stretching and lengthening tight sedentary muscles can also help you realign the body and
ensure all joints and muscles are working in complete harmony.
Utilizing the right set of flexibility exercises, your body will become more adaptive to the conditions
you put it through and accumulate less wear and tear throughout the day, especially if you are
customed to living a sedentary lifestyle. Having flexible muscles safely prepares the body for the
increased demands of our busy lifestyles and helps to ensure it can uphold against repetitive

Importance of Fitness Facility Employment for Physical...
While a balanced educational program specializing in physical therapy, fitness instruction, and
overall health is capable of imparting the knowledge necessary to effectively train others, it is the
prerogative of each graduating student to assess the job market and decide between working in a
traditional gym and seeking self–employed status. For most aspiring fitness trainers and physical
therapists, the realization of long held ambitions will be delivered in the form of a secure and steady
full–time position with a major fitness franchise such as Gold's Gym, Snap Fitness, or Bally Total
Fitness. With recently released statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor stating that
"employment of fitness trainers and instructors is expected to grow by 24 percent from 2010 to
2020, faster than the average for all occupations," (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2012), the majority of
individuals with a fitness–based degree or certification are enticed by the protection offered by such
a robust industry. Others are drawn to the freedom and excitement of working as a freelance
personal trainer, relishing the opportunity to travel, meet new clients and develop customized fitness
programs. Most personal trainers who work in a freelance capacity value the sense of independence
derived from their work, as well as the ability to help other people improve their lives by achieving

My Long-Term Aerobic Goal
Over the term of the semester, I was able to fully achieve my fitness goals (and then some), due to a
well–structured workout plan, persistence and continued exercise throughout the semester, and
reasonable goals. Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength. My
long–term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30
seconds, a 3 minute improvement over my initial 11:48 that I tested at initially. I thought this was a
reasonable goal over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal
about ¾ into the semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session in
about 9:10. My aerobic workout schedule consisted of going outside and running the 1.5 mile course
every session, pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving my time. I
found tht the most difficult aspect was to master my own self–effort, as my own internal effort
seemed to make the difference between a terrible time and a fantastic, fast, run. Once I was able to
control this, however, my times became consistent, and I met my goals every day. My times slowly

to the point where I could go for long periods doing curl–ups with little to no fatigue. This was a
much more prominent change than the one I noticed with my aerobic workouts, as I would collapse
entirely from exhaustion after 20 repetitions early in the semester, whereas later I could do curl–ups
exceedingly well. I in fact reached 94 curl–ups on my final fitness

Morality's Foundations : Nurture Or Nature?
Morality's Foundations: Nurture or Nature?
The foundations of human morality have often been a point of contention in the scientific and
psychological communities, with researchers frequently debating if human morals are innate
sensations that are hardwired into one's genetic makeup or that morals start out as a blank slate that
are simply molded by the environment in which an individual was brought up. In recent times, we
have seen a vast amount of scientific publications favoring both sides of this argument, but most
publications have failed to make one key connection. Typically, recent literature has failed to bridge
the gap between humans and the rest of the Animalia kingdom, as many animals, especially the

The term seemingly is used with altruistic because it has been noted that these behaviors in the
evolutionary sense are not true instances of altruism as the animal does gain inclusive fitness
through means such as kin selection, reciprocal altruism, and cooperation – thus indicating these
behaviors are actually selfish in nature (Waal, 2008). Inclusive fitness is a biological theory
established by a mathematical model created by W.D. Hamilton in 1964 that illustrates how an
animal will gain genetic success and increased evolutionary fitness through cooperative and
altruistic behaviors. An animal can gain inclusive fitness by two means, directly through
mechanisms such as reciprocal altruism/ mutualism or indirectly through other means like kin
selection. For example, in kin selection an altruistic helper will have their genes indirectly passed on
through their kin, as their altruistic behaviors have directly increased the kin's evolutionary fitness
and reproductive success (Hamilton, 1964). For instance, this phenomenon is directly portrayed in
the self–sacrificing emission of an alarm call by a common ground squirrel female when in the
presence of a predator. Through various observations, researchers have found that these female
squirrels will typically only emit an alarm call when surrounded by their kin. On the other hand,
however, these

maintaining a workout routine and sticking to it. Don 't lose sight of your fitness goals; use these

The podcast by Chat Williams displayed a lot of information on the aspects of youth fitness. Many
people believe that fitness is something that encompasses their entire life time. Programs such as Fit

My Reflection Of My Fitness Program
I really enjoyed my fitness program because thanks to it I realized that I am good at doing physical
performance when I am motivated. In this occasion, I was motivated because when I set myself an
objective I make sure I accomplish it or at least I try very hard to accomplish it. Also, this was an
important work that I had to do for sports (it was practically the whole grading for this partial).
I liked this activity, and thanks to it I was able to rediscover myself an adapt a healthier lifestyle.
This activity showed me that I can do whatever I propose if I am motivated. It also showed me that I
can be a persistent person. It showed me that I can be a persistent person because sometimes, when
doing my fitness plan, I thought that the exercises were really hard, but I didn't give up. I worked
hard, and I persist on doing the exercises not matter how harder they were.
I think that I achieved my goals because I have more flexibility, my core muscles are stronger and I
consider that my cardiovascular system is in good shape. I can affirm this because now I have a
better performance in any physical activity than before. For example, last weekend we went to do
yoga with my family in a place called Aumau Yoga Studio. Before doing my fitness program, I
wasn't capable of doing a lot of different yoga poses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Importance Of Physical Education
Physical education plays a crucial role in the education of the whole student. While research
supports the significance of movement in educating both the mind and body, many education
institutions do not require physical education in their programs. Physical education contributes
directly to the development of physical capability and fitness, while helping students make educated
choices, and giving them the ability to understand the value of living an active lifestyle. A study
featured in the Peabody Journal of Education expresses that the "results of a skillfully

The athletic programs in schools solely provide children with different ways to learn motor skills,
advance fitness, and gain knowledge about physical activity. The physical benefits acquired from
establishing a pattern of physical activity in a child's life include disease prevention, reduced
morbidity, safety, and increased intellectual health. In a standard United States physical education
program, students learn about the health benefits obtained from participating in physically active
activities, as well as the importance of continuing these practices throughout life. In elementary
school, the athletics program emphasizes the development of fundamental locomotor, non–
locomotor, and artful skills through dance, gymnastics, and games. The motor skill basis established
during elementary years can increase children's social, cognitive, and physical development, and
could also increase the individual's interest in physical activities later on in life. Subsequently, in
middle school, the physical activities taught in elementary school are usually refined, combined, and
applied to sport–related activities. However, the expeditious growth in children during this time may
affect the student's interests, leading the student to develop diverse fitness elements. This can carry
over into high school, where the students become more independent. In this stage of life, physical

numerous sports (and suffered frequent injuries due to her all–out style of play). She came up with
the idea for this business while laid up with one of her injuries. While there were businesses that
sold fitness and conditioning equipment, she often found that the people selling them had very
limited knowledge about the products and often gave poor advice on what to buy and how to use it.
She has secured funding from private investors and venture capitalist. In order to get volume
discounts on the equipment that she will be purchasing and to beat competitors in the marketplace,
she wants to start with stores in major cities in Ontario and the four western provinces before
expanding into Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. She knows that this is a risky strategy, and that

The Importance Of A Balanced Fitness Program
Well–rounded fitness
Just as it is important to eat a balanced diet and lead a balanced life, it is also important to keep to a
balanced fitness program. Candice Livingston, a ACE Certified Fitness Instructor, teaches us how to
evaluate our fitness program and how to ensure we use a well–rounded program.
Keeping our balance
We have all been taught the importance of keeping balance in our lives. You should not focus on
work so much that you neglect your family; you should not worry so much about planning your
parent 's anniversary party that you forget your husband 's birthday.
This balance of everyday life is just as important in a fitness program. You cannot reach your fitness
goals if you forget or neglect any of the important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Start with a light weight and as you get stronger, increase either the amount of weight or the
numbers of reps. Make sure you recognize the need to work every major muscle group, and start
with the larger muscle of each group. For example, when you work your arms, work your biceps and
then move on to the triceps. You may have a natural tendency to hold your breath on the contraction
when strength training, so make a conscious effort to exhale on the contraction and inhale on the
release.
How often you perform your weight training depends on your fitness plan. If you work all your
muscle groups during the same training session, you only need to weight train two or three times a
week. If you only work certain muscle groups on certain days, you may need to workout four or
more days to work each muscle group at least twice a week. Whichever plan you follow, remember
not to work the same muscle groups two days in a row. Always allow a day of rest in between.
Cardiovascular training
Cardiovascular activity has many benefits. Just a few are a faster metabolism, lower risk of heart
disease, less body fat and a stronger heart and lungs. You will also have more endurance which is
helpful in day to day living.
Cardiovascular activities are often equated with aerobic activity. The main thing to remember when

Benefits Of High Intensity Power Training
In today's society, the overall trend and goal is to become fit and to reduce common
health risks such as obesity and diabetes. Many new programs have been developed to provide
people with the resources and community to achieve their goal of fitness. CrossFit is an example
of a recent exercise trend that have been exploding in popularity. CrossFit is a program created
by Greg Glassman and Lauren Jenai in 1996 but was not established until 2000. The original
CrossFit gym was brought up in Santa Cruz, California. Despite positive ratings, the CrossFit
program has been investigated for elevated risk of injuries and health. CrossFit gained popularity

and improvement of body composition.
Some researchers proposed that high–intensity power training that are CrossFit–based can
improve maximal aerobic fitness and body composition of a person. Smith, Sommer, Starkoff,

Circuit training is a method in which a person will perform several different lifts in rapid succession,

cardiovascular health, and since it is a form of high intensity training, it has incredible implications

The Effects Of Fitness Programs On The Workplace
It is very true that if one works and does not refresh, that person will be ineffective. Just as the
saying suggests that jack becomes dull out of working without any break of playing. It is very true
and applies to each and every person in the society more so those who are productive and are
indulged in business activities. Therefore even companies should allow the employees to be
exercising during work time so as to avoid workers who are dull as well. For a company to be
productive and prosperous, it has to spare some little work time to incorporate fitness programs in
its operations. Fitness programs in a workplace are very effective since with exercise the employees
are less likely to become sick. It has been established that individuals who are physically fit are
more resistant to diseases associated with poor health lifestyles. A workforce which falls sick less
often will always be at work and thus will increase on the productivity of the business (Bird et al.
20). Through regular exercise the employees will be able to sustain and increase their energy
throughout the day. The revived energy will enable them to stay focused on the operations of the
company as they try to bring the best out of themselves. Allowing the employees to exercise in the
workplace is very mandatory because it will help them to develop self–confidence. Individuals who
exercise regularly are able to become physically fit and this boosts their confidence and self–esteem

In addition, Memphis is among one of the most overweight cities in America, making it crucial that
we emphasize health and fitness in our businesses locally (Men's Fitness, 2014). Being overweight
causes a number of health issues such as high cholesterol, heart disease, and diabetes. This can cause
employees to miss work, drive up health care costs, and not be as productive when they are at work.
In addition, health and fitness programs can help employees who already have health problems
return to work sooner. For example, employees who have been diagnosed with heart disease and
who participate in an exercise program have returned to work much quicker, and in addition, the
death rate has also been cut down twenty to twenty–five percent when employees engage in fitness
routines (Meyers, 2003). Therefore, beginning a fitness program can not only significantly decrease
the chances of someone obtaining one of these diseases, but can also decrease the amount of work
they may miss due to these illnesses; henceforth, increasing the overall health of the workplace,
productivity, and employee efficiency (Meyers, 2003).
Making a fitness program also has a great impact on team environments. Fitness programs will lead
to better morale, a more positive workplace, and an environment that will be more productive for all
employees and team members. Fitness programs present employees with team building activities

Physical Fitness And Educational Programs
The film "Fit" explores the evolution of fitness in the daily lives of American men and women.
From being defined as a "vision of the body and its possibilities" to a literal culture of physical
strength and appeal, how we understand fitness has been shaped throughout many generations. In
the late nineteenth century, the belief that participating in daily or at least frequent physical exercise
was good for the body was starting to become more popular. People were developing their own
programs of calisthenics, and starting to train their bodies. With the emergence of physical fitness
and educational programs, the concept of physical fitness blew up and became much more
widespread. Certain figures in the movement put forth beliefs that the ideal body emulated
Renaissance ideals, and were strong, perfect, and symmetrical. Men began working to become
stronger, while women developed "aesthetic dances" to keep their bodies fit. It was commonly
believed that women lost energy faster than men, and that vigorous activities would limit their
abilities to reproduce; so, activities that demonstrated extreme physical endurance were almost
completely limited to men. As the twentieth century approached, fitness crusades swept across the
country. The body became inspected, approved, and admired for its physical capabilities. With the
obsession of beauty in muscular aspects came the obsession with genetic perfection through the
mating of "superior" people, or eugenics. Men and women were

A Personal Trainer can Keep You Motivated
The second biggest advantage of working out with a fitness training professional is the motivation
and stimulation you will get. A fitness trainer will push you hard, making you work beyond your
comfort zone.
The psychological aspect of working out with a trainer is even more important than getting an
individual program. Perseverance is the key to succeeding in the fitness world and it can be difficult
to achieve many of your fitness goals on your own. Which is why so many individuals hire a
personal trainer because they understand what you need to help you reach your goals. Even if that

Plant Growth Environment
2a.
Cakile edentula competes less aggressively when it grows in close proximity with its relatives. The
root biomass of this plant is smaller in comparison with the biomass of the same plant's root in a
region where there is no genetic relatedness. The hypothesis––the presence of close relatives in the
plant's environment does not change group or individual fitness––was tested using another species,
Lupinus angustifolius. Three different controlled environments were constructed to grow this plant:
one surrounded by relatives, one surrounded by unrelated individuals of the same area, and one
surrounded by unrelated individuals of different areas. Regardless of the growth environment, it was
predicted that plants will compete equally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This provides evidence not only for the ability of certain plants to identify their relatives but the
mutual influence on their fitness. In this context, a recent paper reported that plants of the annual
Cakile edentula are able to identify kin in competitive settings and, more importantly, react by
competing less aggressively against a close relative (Dudley & File 2007). When individuals were
grown in pots with close relatives, root biomass, a surrogate of below–ground competitive ability,
was lower than in individuals grown in the vicinity of strangers (Dudley & File 2007).
This citation provides the basis for why the researchers might predict a variation in fitness due to
relatedness. If the plants forego maximizing individual fitness in favour of reducing competition
between relatives this would affect overall group fitness.
Previous fieldwork with this species also suggests that kin selection may be a major selective force
in the most genetically structured groups of C. edentula plants (Donohue 2003).
This citation states the potential for kin selection to significantly influence both individual and group
fitness. Therefore, relatedness could have major implications on group success.
4.
A plant's ability to distinguish its own roots should be an inherent skill, because root growth occurs
in a remarkably heterogeneous space (Hodge 2004).

Natural Heart Observance Month Research Paper

  • 1. Natural Heart Observance Month Research Paper Get Outside and Be Active! My selected Natural Heart Observance month is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, which is observed in May. Being healthy and active has been a goal of mine ever since I can remember. I have always strived to keep fit for sports and to stay healthy. In high school, I was ran year round for cross country and track. Running and keeping active was a high priority for me, rather than a chore. I was able to make some of my best friends for life through running. Running required much mental and physical discipline all the time. Having people that surrounded me who also believed in these similar virtues made it that much worthwhile. Physical fitness and sports best relates to the dimensions of wellness of physical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Physical activity has been proven to stimulate various brain chemicals that can leave us feeling happy and relaxed. Dr. Mary de Groot of Indiana University ran a study on the link of depression and diabetes with exercise. With the diabetes patients, she had them perform a 12–week exercise and cognitive–behavioral therapy (CBT) intervention program. The group that exercised showed improvements both in depression and in blood sugar levels. (Weir) Working out consistently can also help tremendously with our self–esteem and confidence. Exercise can boost our energy by improving our endurance and muscle strength that can benefit us in daily life situations such as at work or school. It may seem counter intuitive to say, but expending energy can help us gain more energy. It can help your cardiovascular system work more effectively by delivering oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. More than 90% of studies indicate that exercise increases energy for nearly every group, ranging from sedentary to healthy adults to cancer patients. Exercise can also make us sleep more efficiently by being able to fall asleep faster and reach an even deeper sleep. This effect happens over time the more consistent we exercise. Research has shown that exercise has a long term effect on sleep, but having quality sleep has a short term effect on our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Martial Fitness Training Program Is Important At Every... Martial Fitness Training Power, Body Mechanics and Flexibility This martial fitness training program has been tailor made to meet the specific demands of martial artists and warrior athletes. Why is fitness training for martial artists important at every level of their training? In short... Done properly it will sharpen your body mechanics, increase mobility and flexibility along with your ability to generate power (important for a solid base, striking and kicking) and just as importantly – it will help to counteract the imbalances already currently in your body from previous injuries or bad habits in training. Martial Fitness Training Basics The martial fitness training program below is split into 3 phases encompassing power, body mechanics and flexibility. Each phase is simply a period of time in which you train in a particular way to achieve a particular objective. The exercises are different in each phase and build on the ones performed previously. Each phase requires only 3 sessions a week commitment. Warming up is essential before any type of physical training and there are scientific studies to back this up. It 's also important to warm up before each martial fitness training session. Perform 5–10 minutes of light aerobic exercise (jogging, stationery bike, rower, etc.) followed by joint mobility for every joint and then do some stretches to all the major muscle groups. Some of the exercises below are unique and you may not be familiar with them. It 's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Article The Fortune 100 And Their Fitness And Wellness... gender equality, good and flexible work organization permitting better reconciliation of working and personal life, lifelong learning, health and safety at work, employee involvement and diversity in working life." (2012) . In an article The Fortune 100 and their Fitness and Wellness Programs, we can find the examples of such managerial attitude. For instance, Walmart provides its 1.1 million associates and family members with health care plans with access to affordable, comprehensive medical coverage. Exxon–Mobil fitness discount program allows employees, retirees and their families to join top–rated health clubs at substantially discounted rates (2015). Creating a safe workplace is a matter of great importance. Abraham Maslow defines safety needs as "security... and freedom from fear, from anxiety and chaos." He argues that "practically everything looks less important than safety and protection" (1954, p.39). Unfortunately, job security has become an issue today. Dorie Clark cites in her article the words of Jacob Morgan, a co–founder of the Future of Work Community, "Job security is a complete myth, as is long–term employment. Companies lay off employees in droves...by the thousands! They just make sweeping cuts when they need to" (2014). Evidently, job insecurity negatively affects job satisfaction. Some studies suggest that living with job insecurity – the "fear" of losing your job – can be more harmful to your health than actually losing it" (n.d.) Therefore, employment ... • 9. The Health And Fitness Program At Sandhills Community College Another student was interviewed: Garrett Cooper, he holds an Associate in Applied Science in Automotive Technology. Currently, he is in the Health and Fitness Program at Sandhills Community College. Garrett works at Unilever – a company that produces health care products. Garrett also went through the Certified Production Training Program at SCC and landed a job at Unilever. Garrets contend that education in the community college will advance along with technology (e.g., more online classes, and less face–to–face classes). Garrett believes that although there will be more online classes, there will also be more lag time between the students and professors. This would eventually lead to unnecessary stress on students who may cause a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevis Toney is a Professor at SCC in the Business Department. Nevis contends that there will be more use of internet learning. Further, more tools for different styles of learning will be provided online. The instructor would have specific tools for a targeted audience of students. Moreover, tablets will not be a substitute for text books. However assignment will be put into learning videos and docudramas, and students will respond to those type of learning tools. Lastly, education will be "customized learning" (N. Toney, personal communication, June 27, 2016). Another fond professor is Catherine Skura; she teaches Economics. Catherine declares that students will be able to potentially receive a certificate in a program instead of the associate degree, however, if they wanted the whole associate they would be able to complete he course work for the associates as well. Because students desire to have a "fast fix," student will rather the certificate in a program, more than the associate. She insists that there will be more technological programs (e.g., mapping and GPS technology). In twenty years, community colleges will be supporting programs such as, Green Technology – energy saving programs. Robotics will become more fascinating and enormously big in the community colleges. My head is going 1,000 miles a minute, my palms are as sweaty as if they were attached to an overweight kid running the mile during fat camp, and I'm pretty sure I can feel the pools of sweat forming underneath my arms. Each step I take feels like it's heavier. The hallway to the parking garage is becoming longer and longer as we get (what is supposed to be) closer to the door. This cannot be that hard–can it? I always see it in those cheesy romantic movies all the damn time. Why the hell am I feeling all these emotions that I never felt before? What the fuck happened to me? It all started at the beginning of the fall semester. I came to the first day of Comic Book Writing fifteen minutes early, as usual, and picked out the seat I ... Once he started college and moved away from his family, his mom started being a total bitch to him and nearly ostracized him from the other family members. She would purposely make family dinners that somehow had some sort of meat product inside of it and would always get into arguments with him (I actually witnessed one argument between the two over the phone). I eventually ended up mirroring the way he dressed. Whenever he would wear oxford shoes, I would wear a pair the next week, if not the next day. He liked mustard colored cardigans? • 18. Tacfit Research Papers TACFIT® is the original Tactical Fitness System, created by Scott B. Sonnon. Tactical Fitness is defined as: Tactical: Of, relating to, or constituting a series of actions, carefully synchronized, coordinated, planned and executed to achieve a specific end. Fitness: methods, protocols and principles to physically, mentally and emotionally prepare, mitigate and compensate for specific occupational, recreational and lifestyle stressors. Tactical Fitness, therefore, is a contiguous approach for specific physical preparation to enter, overcome, and recover from stressors in such a way that the individual and team become stronger, better and healthier from the stressors, rather than deteriorate from them. Planning Personal Fitness Program Essay Planning Personal Fitness Program Introduction My personal fitness program is designed to enhance my speed, agility and cardio–vascular fitness, as well as to improve my skill level in the main parts of tennis. To improve these aspects of my performance I will be doing a six–week course involving, in particular, a circuit–training course, as well as numerous endurance runs and fitness techniques, some of which will be included in my circuit. A circuit involves a series of around 6–10 activities or exercises which each take place at a 'station'. For much of my programme I will be working with a partner, which will increase my safety as they can call for or give help as necessary. I will be training at the Weald Tennis Club in Hassocks, who will provide me with tennis balls as well as courts and nets that are an appropriate size for my circuit, or at the school tennis courts where I will need my own balls; I will use my own tennis racket. The main risk of injury is from overusing my right arm and shoulder, which could cause overuse injuries such as 'tennis elbow'. To prevent these as best as possible I will be carrying out thorough warm ups before each session in my programme, and a thorough warm down at the end of each session. The stations in my circuit will vary in length to accommodate my different levels of ability for each of the different stations exercises. The stations in the circuit are all designed in accordance with my weaknesses and other areas of my game that I want to improve on. They are all very different exercises, which helps to relieve tedium, as well as giving resting time from the more tiring activities whilst giving rest from the less arduous ones. Because I am fairly fit from playing tennis throughout the summer, and from games at school, I will not need to concentrate as hard on the fitness improving stations in my circuit, though I will be ... • 22. Exercise For College Students Essay Exercise For College Students College life is a time full of fun, friends, activities, classes, and homework. All of these activities however, add up to a busy life style. Being busy is not in itself harmful but when the busyness becomes so great that it turns into stress, problems start to arise. The formation of stress leads to many unhealthy trends, such as lack of sleep, loss of immunity to disease, and a change in personality traits. How then can stress in the busy lives of college students be reduced? The answer is a simple one that has long been known; exercise relieves stress. Colleges across the country need to implement a program of required exercise classes to promote the well being of students. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those against mandatory exercise say that if students feel it is important to exercise they will create a program of physical activity on their own and it does not need to be a part of the school. The problem with this theory is that the majority of people would stop the program if left on their own without any sort of accountability. For example, a study was done on several different exercise plans to see what results would happen over time. First the theoretical approach of self–monitoring was used. This program left individuals to attend exercise sessions on their own without any intervention from others. The overall observation was that interest in attending and exercising was lost after about four weeks. Next the approach of stages of change was used. This program used four different groups. One group received weekly calls with structured inquiry to see how and when the subjects were personally exercising. The second group received weekly calls with general inquiries about their exercise habits. The third group received a call every three weeks with general inquiries of exercise, and the last group received calls every three weeks with structured inquiries. The results were, that 63% of the subjects who were called more frequently were regularly exercising as opposed to only the 22% exercising success rate of those that were called less frequently. On the contrary many reptiles species have little parental care. Many reptiles use associative learning and spatial awareness as learning mechanisms to complete tasks. Studies dedicated to Darwinian fitness in reptiles have only taken into account different body sizes and athleticism, but rarely has learning ability been a primary focus in these studies. Theoretically a higher level of learning allows you to adapt more efficiently to your environment resulting in a greater Darwinian fitness. Darwinian selection has been vastly credited as the driving force of many traits in lizards. In this experiment the scientists attempt to prove that not only selection can play a role in influencing many traits in lizard, but environmental effects can directly influence traits in lizards in the matter of body size, running speed, and learning ability in B. duprreyi a species of lizards. B. duperreyi lay their eggs on many different incubation conditions. Research suggests that incubation temperature can influence body size, running speed, and learning ability. While a balanced educational program specializing in physical therapy, fitness instruction, and overall health is capable of imparting the knowledge necessary to effectively train others, it is the prerogative of each graduating student to assess the job market and decide between working in a traditional gym and seeking self–employed status. For most aspiring fitness trainers and physical therapists, the realization of long held ambitions will be delivered in the form of a secure and steady full–time position with a major fitness franchise such as Gold's Gym, Snap Fitness, or Bally Total Fitness. With recently released statistics from the U.S. Department of Labor stating that "employment of fitness trainers and instructors is expected to grow by 24 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations," (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2012), the majority of individuals with a fitness–based degree or certification are enticed by the protection offered by such a robust industry. My Long-Term Aerobic Goal Over the term of the semester, I was able to fully achieve my fitness goals (and then some), due to a well–structured workout plan, persistence and continued exercise throughout the semester, and reasonable goals. Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength. My long–term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, a 3 minute improvement over my initial 11:48 that I tested at initially. I thought this was a reasonable goal over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal about ¾ into the semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session in about 9:10. My aerobic workout schedule consisted of going outside and running the 1.5 mile course every session, pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving my time. I found tht the most difficult aspect was to master my own self–effort, as my own internal effort seemed to make the difference between a terrible time and a fantastic, fast, run. The foundations of human morality have often been a point of contention in the scientific and psychological communities, with researchers frequently debating if human morals are innate sensations that are hardwired into one's genetic makeup or that morals start out as a blank slate that are simply molded by the environment in which an individual was brought up. In recent times, we have seen a vast amount of scientific publications favoring both sides of this argument, but most publications have failed to make one key connection. The term seemingly is used with altruistic because it has been noted that these behaviors in the evolutionary sense are not true instances of altruism as the animal does gain inclusive fitness through means such as kin selection, reciprocal altruism, and cooperation – thus indicating these behaviors are actually selfish in nature (Waal, 2008). Inclusive fitness is a biological theory established by a mathematical model created by W.D. Hamilton in 1964 that illustrates how an animal will gain genetic success and increased evolutionary fitness through cooperative and altruistic behaviors. An animal can gain inclusive fitness by two means, directly through mechanisms such as reciprocal altruism/ mutualism or indirectly through other means like kin selection. For example, in kin selection an altruistic helper will have their genes indirectly passed on through their kin, as their altruistic behaviors have directly increased the kin's evolutionary fitness and reproductive success (Hamilton, 1964). For instance, this phenomenon is directly portrayed in the self–sacrificing emission of an alarm call by a common ground squirrel female when in the presence of a predator. Through various observations, researchers have found that these female squirrels will typically only emit an alarm call when surrounded by their kin. On the other hand, however, these ... Here are some suggestions for starting and/or maintaining a workout routine and sticking to it. Don 't lose sight of your fitness goals; use these five simple tips to stay motivated. 1. Choose Physical Activities You Enjoy You are far less likely to do something if you don 't enjoy doing it, so make exercising fun. Don 't start training for a marathon if you hate running. Not sure what you might enjoy doing? Try different activities and see how they feel for you. It will also be useful to ask yourself the following questions: A. Are you more comfortable outdoors or inside? Certain activities can go either way. For instance, you can run on a treadmill or in a public park. B. Are you coordinated or a little clumsy? If you think you 'd feel out of sorts in a dance class, yoga might be a more suitable option. C. Do you have money to spend on special clothing, equipment, lessons or a membership? Or are you looking for something with minimal accoutrements that can be done practically anywhere? If you travel a lot, jogging or power walking are great ways to explore your surroundings, without having to pack anything other than a pair of shoes and the appropriate clothing. 2. Vary Your Routine Try to choose more than one form of exercise you are passionate about, so that you can change up your physical activity from day to day. Switching ... Fitness Program and Food Journal My goal for this fitness program is to lose weight and gain muscle strength and the way I am going to achieve my goal is using the magic bullet: diet and exercise. My current weight at the start of this project is 230.0 pounds. I will be going to the gym five days out of the weak and I will also start a dieting plan as well. My workouts will include upper body, lower body, abs, and at least thirty minutes of cardio at the end or before each workout. The upper body will include chest, arms, shoulders, and back on Mondays and Thursdays. The lower body will include legs, calfs, lower back and hips on Tuesdays and Fridays. Abs will be just abs with cardio on Wednesdays. Leaving me with Saturdays and Sundays to use as rest days and giving my muscle a chance to rebuild and grow. My workouts will follow these numbers of repetitions and sets that are three sets of ten or twelve depending on how I feel that today. As for how much weight I will use is depended on how much I can lift for each exercise and I will put on an extra five pounds of weight after completing each set if necessary. My rest period for between sets will be from one to two minutes before I start the next one. I will also include some circuit training when I feel like I need a change in pace for my workouts. These circuit training would include fast past motions with five to six different exercise back to back of each other without resting in till the set is complete. For example, the Fitbit Flex, one of the original Fitbit wearables that was on the market, now customers can only get the Flex 2, but when it was on the market it cost $99.95 when bought from the Fitbit store. It only cost the company $17.36 to make, so clearly Fitbit was making a profit (Teardown, 2003). The influences that society brings can be a good thing to a company as well as a bad thing. For Fitbit the change customers are making from wanting a fitness tracker to more of a smartwatch may put Fitbit in a bit of a situation, but they have produced the Fitbit Ionic which is Fitbit's version of a smartwatch. According to Mark Sullivan, "More fitness–minded people are moving to smartwatches, mainly the Apple Watch" (Sullivan, 2017). The article talks about how for Fitbit going into the smartwatch area could be dangerous for Fitbit because how is it going to compete with Apple and come out relatively ok. The advantage that Fitbit has is that its smartwatch can work on either Android or Apple phones, so it is not limited like the Apple watch. Currently, Fitbit is in a stage of growth, but that does seem to be stagnating a bit. • 74. Physical Fitness And Educational Programs The film "Fit" explores the evolution of fitness in the daily lives of American men and women. From being defined as a "vision of the body and its possibilities" to a literal culture of physical strength and appeal, how we understand fitness has been shaped throughout many generations. In the late nineteenth century, the belief that participating in daily or at least frequent physical exercise was good for the body was starting to become more popular. People were developing their own programs of calisthenics, and starting to train their bodies. With the emergence of physical fitness and educational programs, the concept of physical fitness blew up and became much more widespread. Certain figures in the movement put forth beliefs that the ideal body emulated Renaissance ideals, and were strong, perfect, and symmetrical. Men began working to become stronger, while women developed "aesthetic dances" to keep their bodies fit. It was commonly believed that women lost energy faster than men, and that vigorous activities would limit their abilities to reproduce; so, activities that demonstrated extreme physical endurance were almost completely limited to men. As the twentieth century approached, fitness crusades swept across the country. The body became inspected, approved, and admired for its physical capabilities. With the obsession of beauty in muscular aspects came the obsession with genetic perfection through the mating of "superior" people, or eugenics. Men and women were ... • 78. Plant Growth Environment 2a. Cakile edentula competes less aggressively when it grows in close proximity with its relatives. The root biomass of this plant is smaller in comparison with the biomass of the same plant's root in a region where there is no genetic relatedness. The hypothesis––the presence of close relatives in the plant's environment does not change group or individual fitness––was tested using another species, Lupinus angustifolius. Three different controlled environments were constructed to grow this plant: one surrounded by relatives, one surrounded by unrelated individuals of the same area, and one surrounded by unrelated individuals of different areas. Regardless of the growth environment, it was predicted that plants will compete equally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This provides evidence not only for the ability of certain plants to identify their relatives but the mutual influence on their fitness. In this context, a recent paper reported that plants of the annual Cakile edentula are able to identify kin in competitive settings and, more importantly, react by competing less aggressively against a close relative (Dudley & File 2007). When individuals were grown in pots with close relatives, root biomass, a surrogate of below–ground competitive ability, was lower than in individuals grown in the vicinity of strangers (Dudley & File 2007). This citation provides the basis for why the researchers might predict a variation in fitness due to relatedness. If the plants forego maximizing individual fitness in favour of reducing competition between relatives this would affect overall group fitness. Previous fieldwork with this species also suggests that kin selection may be a major selective force in the most genetically structured groups of C. edentula plants (Donohue 2003). This citation states the potential for kin selection to significantly influence both individual and group fitness. Therefore, relatedness could have major implications on group success. 4. A plant's ability to distinguish its own roots should be an inherent skill, because root growth occurs in a remarkably heterogeneous space (Hodge 2004). This citation states that the ability for ...
