2. In the course of producing my main product and ancillary tasks, i tried to
maintain a sense of continuity and synergy throughout all of the products.
By doing this, the audience will be able to easily recognise the products
as being a part of the same campaign as the products have some link
with each other. This can be achieved through the use of; props,
costumes, colour schemes, fonts and characters.
Fonts play a big part within the synergy of the products and continuity
within. I used the same font throughout each product to ensure
recognisability. This then meant that my audience could associate this
font with the film as is would be seen it in three different area optimising
recognisability.

3. COLOUR SCHEME
Throughout our main task and ancillary tasks, i have selected and precise colour-scheme of
black, white and a hint of blue. The colour black connotes evil while white connotes emptiness,
blue is generally an unconventional colour for a horror film but i included it as it is a colour often
associated with healthcare and hospitals which is the setting of my production.
Each product contains most if not all of the colours in the scheme, however for the title card in the
trailer i decided to swap the black and white (to have a white background) as i felt this contrasted
better to the darkness and in the previous shot. Throughout the products although the main
colour in the colour scheme changes the colours as a whole stayed the same.
4. MISE-EN-SCENE
When making the poster i included the use of the main prop from the
trailer which is the drugs/cure, this is because the cure is the thing that
causes disturbance in the trailer which in horror posters is usually the
main image. Having this link with the trailer and poster is vital as it
means they both convey the right genre and plot.
With the magazine cover however, i didn't want to include this, as i
wanted to show the actor of the film because this is a convention of film
magazine covers.
5. COSTUME AND CHARACTER
One of the things that links my magazine and trailer together is
the use of the character and the repetition of costume. On the
magazine cover i used a mid shot of my character as this was a
convention for film magazine covers. In the mid shot my character
wears the same clothes as in the last 2 thirds of my trailer, i did
this as fans of the film would then recognise not only the
character but the costume the character wears during the
disequilibrium.

6. SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITES
Social media and websites are an important part of marketing films. The links for the
relevant social media accounts and websites are often included in trailers and ancillary
products. The links for my production are on only 2 of my products, the trailer and the
poster. This is because the featuring productions links are conventionally not included on
magazine covers as it is in the relevant article and there is limited room on the cover.
Trailer
Poster
The release information is found both on the film
poster and film trailer as it keeps the audience
informed about when they can watch the film. I
did not put the release information on the
magazine front cover as conventionally this
information is found inside the magazine.
ELEASE INFORMATION
7. IDENTS
One thing that is in both the trailer and the the poster is the idents. This
is mainly because is it conventional for the idents to be on the poster
and in the trailer but also as it adds another way for the products to be
linked.
Trailer Poster
Another thing similar to the idents that is on the poster and in the trailer is a billing block.
These are essentially mini credits that are printed on theatrical posters are on the final
title card in a trailer. This billing block often includes information such as the main actors,
producers, production companies and various other credits. I included this in these
products as it is one of the conventions that rarely changes.
8. GENRE
Across all texts, I think i have definitely established a horror genre.
The trailer includes an ambient sound often used in horror trailers along with dark
lighting, increasing pace, a jump and a colour scheme similar to that of a generic horror
product.
The poster includes a minimalist design with the colours and fonts often associated with
horror/psychological horror products.
The magazine cover is very obvious about genre, the main colours being red black and
it being a well known horror film magazine also the horror genre oriented cover lines help
to convey the genre.
9. TAGLINE
The tagline can be found only my poster. As film tagline’s are not often on
the front cover of a film magazine, they are located inside with the article
about said film.
I had the option to include the tagline in the trailer but i didn't feel this was
appropriate to the genre as in most horror trailers the tagline is either not
displayed or it’s in the text breaking up the trailer and as i did not include
this text i felt that the tagline would have been out of place.
But as i could not add the tagline i made the trailer so that the tagline
could easily be connected to the narrative/story.
10. Overall i can see that my poster and trailer are the most linked of
my products and the poster and magazine cover are the least. This
is because in real media the magazine cover is not produced
alongside the other products and so often differs. The trailer and
poster are most linked because they are produced by the same
companies and often at the same time, which is why they have
similar properties.
I believe that the combination of the 3 products is very effective as
they all convey the same genre and promote the film both on their
own and when combined.
