Hakeem Kabo proposes a short film called "Dream of a Baller 2" as his final project for his media studies course. The film will continue the story from his previous short film by following criminals who are arrested and imprisoned for a murder. Through flashbacks, the film will show the events immediately after the murder. Hakeem plans to research film techniques by analyzing similar films to help him improve the quality of his own film. He will work independently on the project and reflect weekly on his progress. At the end, he aims to have created a film that educates audiences about stopping youth violence while entertaining them.

Section 1: Rationale (approx. 150 words)
Firstly, I would have to say that the last 2 years of studying in Media Productions and technology
has been very eventful and I am extremely great full to have experienced the last 12 units with my
peers and teachers. Before I started the course, I was not really sure were my future was heading
towards as I did not really know exactly what I enjoyed doing within media. However, the 12 units
enabled me to have an idea of what I may and may not have liked. Producing work such as,
adverts, documentaries, short films, magazines, posters, news shows was really enjoyable and to
add to that I learned new things such as using software’s such adobe InDesign to design
magazines, adobe after effects, adobe Photoshop to alter photos and image and adobe premiere
to edit moving images, software’s I had never really used before. By doing all of this, I realized
something I was really passionate about was creating short films because it involves you to be very
imaginative such as thinking of a storyline, drawing storyboards, creating scripts and the fun part
filming and bringing all your thoughts to life.
Section 2: Project concept (approx. 200 words)
My final project is going to be a short film based on football and youth crime which will be a
continued version from the short film I made last year. This will be about the criminals that took the
life of Darren Brown, (a fictional character). The film will start of them being arrested and taken to
court which they will then spend time behind bars and then leads to a flashback of incidence
immediately after the murder was carried out. Kyle, one of the members ends up telling police the
criminals involved which leads to a court case and them spending time behind bars. After they have
spent the time, they will be then be after Kyle which they kidnap and have him hotstage. The name
of this film will be called Dream Of A Baller 2. The aim of this project is to ultimately inform, so
including something that the audience may not already be aware of, educate so they could
understand the concepts of the topic and to entertain so they can sit back relax and enjoy the film.
For my research I will be carrying out critical and contextual film analysis on films similar to mine
which would involve looking at cuts, shot types, purposes, mise en scene and sound audio. The
reasons behind this analysis is to help me create my film to its maximum potential and to good
quality so by studying these shows it will benefit me. The equipment that I may use are lighting
equipment, microphones, cameras and a tripod. I may also create a questionnaire just to gather
feedback from peers, audience and teachers which could enable me to improve or give me ideas on
my film.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 150 words)

2. Whilst ongoing my project, I will be reflecting weekly on what progress I have made regarding my
film. This will be talking about every single thing I did that week that contributes to my film so this
could be positives and negatives such as finishing research or shoots being canceled. At the end of
the project, I want to look back at my film, and be able to reflect positively on the message the film
send which will hopefully be to stop the youth violence and to chase your dreams and an example
of that would be football. Once again, I will be doing this individually so I feel it is extremely crucial
that I focus and start planning out I will be doing and when. I think the benefits of me working
independently is that it enable me to depend on just myself, be as creative as I want to be and
encourages me to put more time in to work.
