This document summarizes a study on seismic base isolation of reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures with and without masonry infill walls. The study uses computer modeling and analysis to compare the seismic performance of a 7-story RC building under different conditions: 1) fixed base vs base isolated, and 2) bare frame vs frame with masonry infill walls. Two types of seismic base isolators are modeled - lead rubber bearings and friction pendulum isolators. The masonry infill walls are modeled as diagonal struts. Both static analysis and response spectrum analysis are performed. The results show that base isolation increases the natural period of the structure and reduces base shear, storey drifts and accelerations. However
