ď‚š Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that the government is heavily
investing in technology for creating modern infrastructure, saying the benefits of
Digital India must reach every section of the society.
ď‚š The Prime Minister was addressing a Post-Budget webinar on the theme
'Unleashing the Potential: Ease of living using Technology'.
ď‚š Mr. Modi said, this year's Union Budget has emphasised on increasing the ease of
living with the help of technology.
He added that the changing India of 21st century is continuously empowering its
citizens with the power of technology and people are clearly feeling this change.
ď‚š The Prime Minister highlighted that the government's efforts are making lives of
the poor and unprivileged, better and today people do not consider the
government as an obstruction but as a catalyst for development.
ď‚š He asked to evaluate the good practices adopted by other countries to improve
citizen services.
ď‚š Mr. Modi said the government's policy interventions are now showing results.

Govt heavily investing in technology and creating modern digital infrastructure,
said PM Modi
Vibrant Villages programme aims to ensure development of all common facilities
like telecom & internet in border villages: FM Nirmala Sitharaman
ď‚š Union minister of finance and corporate affairs Nirmala Sitharaman
reached Lachen in Sikkim’s Mangan district today evening.
ď‚š She will review the implementation of central government welfare
schemes; and public infrastructure and services available in Lachen
and other border villages to ensure that targets proposed under the
Vibrant Villages programme are fulfilled.
Earlier in the day, Ms Sitharaman attended an outreach programme
organized by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural
Development or NABARD and other banks in Gangtok.
ď‚š Speaking on the occasion, she said that the Vibrant Villages
programme aims to ensure the development of all common
facilities such as telecom, optic fibre cables, infrastructure, schools,
houses, roads, health, internet and common service centres in
border villages.

Pan India coverage of 5G services achieved by end of next year,
says Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
ď‚š The Government has said the target of pan India coverage of 5G services
will be achieved by the end of next year. Briefing media in New Delhi,
Communication and IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, 387 districts of
the country have already been covered by the 5G services so far.
ď‚š He said, under phase one of the 5G coverage, a deadline was set to
cover 200 cities by the end of March this year and the target has been
achieved a month before.
ď‚š He said, India has emerged as a leading manufacturer and exporter of
telecom equipment and the mobile export is going to be ten billion
dollars in the coming years.
He said, global companies are interested to invest in the telecom sector
of the country. Mr Vaishnav added that the government has taken a slew
of policy reforms which have made India a leading manufacturer of
telecom equipment, research and development and 5G rollout.

National Science Day, marking discovery of Raman Effect
being celebrated
ď‚š National Science Day is being celebrated across the country today.
 The theme of this year's Science day is “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”, in light of
India’s G20 presidency.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his greetings to all scientists and innovators of
the country.
ď‚š In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, India is making innumerable strides in the world of
science and nurturing an eco-system for research and innovation.
National Science Day is celebrated to mark the discovery of the “Raman Effect” by physicist,
Sir CV Raman on this day in 1928.
ď‚š For this discovery, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
ď‚š In 1954, he was honoured with India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.
ď‚š In 1986, the National Council for Science & Technology asked the Government of India to
designate February 28 as National Science Day.
ď‚š Since 1987, the event is celebrated all over the country in schools, colleges, universities and
other academic, scientific, technical, medical and research institutions. The celebration
includes public speeches, radio, TV, science movies, science exhibitions, research
demonstration, debates, and many more activities.

ď‚š Argentina captain Lionel Messi has been named the best player
in men’s football by FIFA, at The Best FIFA Football Awards in
Paris yesterday.
ď‚š Messi won this award for his outstanding performances in men's
football from August 2021 to December 2022.
ď‚š The 35-year-old forward scored two goals in the final against
France.
France’s Kylian Mbappe, also nominated for the highly
anticipated award of the night, netted a hat-trick in the World
Cup final.
ď‚š However, Mbappe's achievement was overshadowed as Messi
finally won the most coveted trophy.
 Spain’s Alexia Putellas won the best women’s player award for
the second year in a row.

ď‚š Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today inaugurated a New Facility at
the IIT Madras Center for Innovation.
 The Hub is IIT Madras’ first architect-designed built space dedicated to
student-led activities funded by Alumni & Government contributions.
ď‚š This is dedicated to supporting and encouraging Innovation and
Entrepreneurship activities of the students and researchers.
Delivering the keynote address, the Vice President said that the World is
looking at India's reaction on global issues as India has become a new
hub for startups and has an ecosystem for development.
ď‚š He said, the educational institutions should grow up on the shoulders of
the alumni community. He said that an ecosystem is needed to tap the
potential of the students.

Union Health Ministry issues National Action Plan to States & Union
Territories on heat-related illnesses for summer season
ď‚š The Union Health Ministry has issued a National Action Plan to States and
Union Territories on heat-related illnesses and asked them to take effective
steps to address the impact of heat in the summer season.
The Ministry has also asked the State health authorities to disseminate the
guidelines to all the districts.

A letter written by the Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan to all the Chief
Secretaries of states said, from 1st march daily surveillance on heat-related
illnesses under National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health
(NPCCHH) in all states and districts will be conducted on Integrated Health
Information Platform.
The Ministry asked states that the heat alerts which are being shared by
NPCCHH, NCDC and the Ministry should be disseminated promptly at District
and health facility level to ensure the implementation of Heat-related Health
action plans.
ď‚š It said that the health departments of the State must continue efforts on
sensitization and capacity building of medical officers, health staff, and grass-
root level workers on heat illness.

its pledge to dismantle all terrorist organisations without
delay or discrimination.
ď‚š In a report on 'Country Reports on Terrorism 2021: Pakistan',
the US Bureau of Counterterrorism says, Pakistan experienced
significant terrorist activity in 2021.
ď‚š The reports says, number of attacks and casualties was
higher than in 2020, according to Major terrorist groups that
focused on conducting attacks in Pakistan.
ď‚š These included Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Balochistan
Liberation Army, and ISISK.

US says Pakistan made little progress in eliminating terrorist organisations
IFC agrees to provide 400 million dollar swap
facility to 3 banks in Sri Lanka
ď‚š Washington-based International Finance Corporation, IFC has
agreed to provide 400 million dollar swap facility to three banks
in Sri Lanka for trade financing.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Sampath Bank and Nations Trust
Bank will get the money to help import food, medicine and
fertilizers.
IFC’s cross-currency swap facility will help Sri Lanka to obtain
critical forex liquidity, to support the private sector and
encourage longer term funding flows to the market.
Sri Lanka has been facing severe forex shortages since 2022
after the central bank printed money for two years.

Bangladesh continued anti-terror effort, terrorist group recruitment &
funding increased online: US State Department
ď‚š The US State department in its country report on terrorism released on
Monday says that in 2021 Bangladesh witnessed incidents causing injury
and death derived from hate-based communal protests and political
differences with some violent extremist group involvement.
ď‚š The report says that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reemphasized the zero-
tolerance policy on terrorism.
At the same time terrorist groups increased recruitment and funding
activities online. US trained Bangladesh police units arrested terror suspects
which prevented some attacks in the country.
In 2021, three terrorist incidents took place in Bangladesh. On May 17,
police neutralised a home made, remote controlled IED device in
Narayanganj.
ď‚š On July 11, again Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTCU)
recovered IEDs, bomb making materials and weapons from Narayanganj.

Tilottama Sen wins bronze medal in Women’s
10m Air Rifle at ISSF World Cup at Cairo in
Egypt
 Indian teen Tilottama Sen has won bronze medal in the women’s
10m Air Rifle at ISSF World Cup at Cairo in Egypt.
ď‚š The 14-year-old Sen won second bronze for India, fifth overall
after ending the top eight ranking round with a score of 262.
ď‚š She missed out on the gold medal match by the narrowest
possible margin of 0.1. Great Britain’s Seonaid Mcintosh won gold
and Switzerland’s Olympic Champion Nina Christen came second
to win silver.
The third day of the event was yet another profitable day for India
with Rudrankksh Patil earlier winning gold in the men’s Air Rifle.
ď‚š India is placed comfortably on top of the medal tally with three
golds, with Hungary, Britain and Slovakia winning the other three
awarded. Four more finals are scheduled in the next couple of
days.

Wide acceptance in G20 FMCBG meeting that Crypto Assets are
major risks to financial stability, says RBI governor
ď‚š In the first major ministerial engagement under G20, where, India
welcomed the debate on Crypto Assets proposing regulations
and a policy perspective on the use of Crypto Assets.
Participating members of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central
Bank Governors (FMCBG) in the outcome document, on the
conclusion of the meeting yesterday, also welcomed that crypto-
assets are being closely monitored and subject to robust
regulation to mitigate potential risks to financial stability.
Briefing media on conclusion of the meeting, Finance Minister
Nirmala Sitharaman said that there is almost a clear
understanding that anything not backed by the central bank is
not currency and this is the position that India has been taking
for a very long time.

Vibrant Villages programme aims to ensure development of all common facilities like telecom & internet in border villages: FM Nirmala Sitharaman ď‚š Union minister of finance and corporate affairs Nirmala Sitharaman reached Lachen in Sikkim’s Mangan district today evening. ď‚š She will review the implementation of central government welfare schemes; and public infrastructure and services available in Lachen and other border villages to ensure that targets proposed under the Vibrant Villages programme are fulfilled. Pan India coverage of 5G services achieved by end of next year, says Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ď‚š The Government has said the target of pan India coverage of 5G services will be achieved by the end of next year. Briefing media in New Delhi, Communication and IT Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said, 387 districts of the country have already been covered by the 5G services so far. ď‚š He said, under phase one of the 5G coverage, a deadline was set to cover 200 cities by the end of March this year and the target has been achieved a month before. ď‚š He said, India has emerged as a leading manufacturer and exporter of telecom equipment and the mobile export is going to be ten billion dollars in the coming years. He said, global companies are interested to invest in the telecom sector of the country. Union Health Ministry issues National Action Plan to States & Union Territories on heat-related illnesses for summer season ď‚š The Union Health Ministry has issued a National Action Plan to States and Union Territories on heat-related illnesses and asked them to take effective steps to address the impact of heat in the summer season. The Ministry has also asked the State health authorities to disseminate the guidelines to all the districts. ď‚š A letter written by the Health Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan to all the Chief Secretaries of states said, from 1st march daily surveillance on heat-related illnesses under National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) in all states and districts will be conducted on Integrated Health Information Platform. The Ministry asked states that the heat alerts which are being shared by NPCCHH, NCDC and the Ministry should be disseminated promptly at District and health facility level to ensure the implementation of Heat-related Health action plans. ď‚š It said that the health departments of the State must continue efforts on sensitization and capacity building of medical officers, health staff, and grass- root level workers on heat illness. www.indopraba.blogspot.com

IFC agrees to provide 400 million dollar swap facility to 3 banks in Sri Lanka ď‚š Washington-based International Finance Corporation, IFC has agreed to provide 400 million dollar swap facility to three banks in Sri Lanka for trade financing. Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Sampath Bank and Nations Trust Bank will get the money to help import food, medicine and fertilizers. IFC’s cross-currency swap facility will help Sri Lanka to obtain critical forex liquidity, to support the private sector and encourage longer term funding flows to the market. At the same time terrorist groups increased recruitment and funding activities online. US trained Bangladesh police units arrested terror suspects which prevented some attacks in the country. In 2021, three terrorist incidents took place in Bangladesh. Participating members of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) in the outcome document, on the conclusion of the meeting yesterday, also welcomed that crypto- assets are being closely monitored and subject to robust regulation to mitigate potential risks to financial stability.
