1. Final Project Unit Plan: Day 1
A – Analyze Learners
I will be teaching 25 first graders about the 43 Presidents of the United State, their duties as
President, and the important symbols of our country.
S – Select Objectives
I want the students to become familiar with who the first president of the U.S was and the
duties his job entitles. I also want the students to be able to identify the symbols of our country
such as the American Flag, Statue of Liberty, Bald Eagle, Mt. Rushmore, etc..
S – Select Methods, Media, and Materials
To start off the lesson I will show a YouTube video to the students introducing them to the first
President of the United States. Next, the students will be divided into groups of 2 and visit
www.zunal.com to complete a Web Quest titled Our Special America where the students will be
learning about the important symbols of our country. I want the students to create their own Mt.
Rushmore by adding their face in place of a Presidents.
U – Utilize Media and Materials
The students will spend most of the day in the library working on and completing the Web
Quest Our Special Country, and also completing their digital imaging assignment on Mt.
Rushmore.
R – Require Learner Participation
While the students are completing their Web Quest& Photoshop assignment, I will walk the
room to make sure they are understanding what they are learning offering to answer any
questions they have. I will watch each student closely to make sure they are putting in group
effort to complete their Web Quest. I will also guide the students during their Photoshop
assignment.
E – Evaluate and Revise
Once the students have completed their Web Quest& Photoshop assignment I will ask each
group to draw their favorite symbol of our country that will be hung around the classroom for
display.
