2. ANALYZE THE LEARNER
I have 25 learners in a first grade class, which
includes 14 boys and 11 girls. I will watch my
learners closely to figure out what kinds of
activities will help them learn more efficiently.
While analyzing my learners I have noticed that
two boys have mild ADHD.
3. MAIN OBJECTIVE
Students will be able to understand
the duties the president of the
United States has, know where they
live, how they are elected, become
familiar with their current president,
know how many men have served in
the office of the president of the
U.S. and lastly be able to identify
certain American symbols and
understand their meaning. The
students will do this by researching
the past and present presidents,
writing letters, doing hands on
activities, viewing pictures and
playing games. The students will do
and know these things with 100%
accuracy by the end of a 8 day
period.
4. DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN
Day 1: Students will learn about the first president of the United States and the duties his job
entitled. Students will also will learn that the American flag is a symbol of the United States, and
create their own American Flag. Students will also be able to identify other American symbols such
as: The Statue of Liberty, The Bald Eagle, Etc..
Day 2: The students will learn about the rest of the 43 presidents and what it takes to become the
president of the United States.
Day 3: Students will learn the process of how a president gets elected, and have their own classroom
Presidential Election.
Day 4: Students will take a virtual tour of the White House and know its importance.
Day 5: Students will learn more about our present President and understand that he is the leader of
the country they live in. On this day the students will also write a letter to the President. The students
will also compare and contrast our President now from the first President the United States ever
had.
5. USE OF TECHNOLOGY
A computer will be used during this
unit plan for the students to be able
to tour the White House virtually. A
smart board will also be utilized
during this Unit.
