America’s 1st President
Welcome :
Welcome to the web quest the first president of the United States. During this web quest students will
research in small groups who the first president of the United States was and why he was so important.
Each group will be assigned a certain topic about George Washington to research. After each group has
enough information, each group will present their topic to the class by creating a power point and tell us
all about George Washington during that time period.
Introduction :
Everyone pack your bags, we’re traveling back in time to 1732! That’s when George Washington was
born. But, who was George Washington and what role did he play in America? Are you ready to find out?

Task :
We made it! We are officially back to 1732. Now it is time to explore George Washington from the day
he was born to the day he past. You will learn all about his personal life, to his time as America’s first
President, to why he is so important in America’s history.
Process :
Part One
You will first be assigned to groups of 4. After you have been assigned to your group, you will then be
assigned a specific time span during George Washington’s life to explore and come up with facts to
present to the rest of the class.
Group 1 – What is George Washington most known for?
Group 2 –George Washington’s younger years growing up.
Group 3- George Washington before the Revolution.
Group 4 – The American Revolution and Leading the Army.
Group 5 – Washington’s Presidency.
Group 6 – How Washington died.
2. Part Two
Let the exploring begin! First, explore this websiteWEBSITE. After exploring this website you should
write down any information pertaining to your groups assigned prompt. For group 4 there is a video
that would be great to collect information from.
Next, explore your time span on this WEBSITE. There are many options to choose on this site, but
please keep to YOUR GROUPS assigned prompt. Here is anotherWEBSITEwaiting to be explored!
Lastly, after each group has explored their topic, you will then need to come up with a symbol that is
representing George Washington and color or create your own on a poster. You may already know of a
few, but if you don’t you may use GOOGLE.COM to find symbols.
Part Three
Once you have all of your information, you must make a power point presentation by using
theTUTORIALI have posted for you and finally present your topic to the class! You also must include your
poster of the symbol you have chosen in your presentation. Good luck!
Evaluate :
You will be graded on how well you have researched your group’s assigned topic.
You will also be graded on how well you work with others.
Lastly, you will be graded on how well you and your group present the information on your topic
you have found.
Conclusion :
You have officially completed the tasks that this web quest involves and should now be an expert on the
history of America’s first President. Now fasten your seatbelts and travel back to 2013!
