This unit plan outlines teaching first graders about the US Presidency over 3 days. On day 3, students will create campaign posters on PowerPoint for a mock classroom presidential election, hang the posters around the room, and vote for candidates who will campaign for their vote. The teacher will evaluate students on their participation in the election process.

1. Final Project Unit Plan: Day 3
A – Analyze Learners
I will be teaching 25 first graders about the 43 Presidents of the United State, their duties as
President, and the important symbols of our country.
S – Select Objectives
I want the students to learn the process of how a presidents gets elected, and have their own
classroom Presidential Election.
S – Select Methods, Media, and Materials
The students will create their Presidential Elections posters through PowerPoint. I will print the
posters and allow the students to decide where to hang them throughout the classroom.
U – Utilize Media and Materials
The students will share their posters with the class.
R – Require Learner Participation
The students will vote for the two candidates that are running. The candidates that are running
will campaign with their signs.
E – Evaluate and Revise
I will grade the students on how well they participate in the Presidential Election.
