Day 4- Thursday

I.

Analyze Learners

The group I am focusing on is students in a third class between the ages of 8 and 9. In this unit I
plan on focusing on the 50 states and their capitals. Some students may already know some of
the 50 states and their capitals, but some may not know any of the states and their capitals. I plan
to make sure every student enjoys the activities and lesson, but at the same time learning.

II.

State Objective

Once the students have viewed the WebQuest and created their Wordle, I will once again today
play the YouTube song to finish learning the rest of the 50 states and capitals. Now the students
should know all the 50 states and their capitals. Now that they know all of the 50 states and their
capitals I will have them create a secondlife where I will show them how to maneuver on. I will
have them visit a different state and view their capital. Once they have visited the state and its
capital I will have them find a picture of that capital online and have them Photoshop that picture
and show the class about which state they chose to visit and why.

III.

Select Methods, Materials, & Media

I will get on secondlife and show them how it works. Once they have created their own account I
will have them get on it and play with it a bit. Once they have played with the program I will
explain to them that they are to visit a different state and find their capital. After they have done
that in secondlife they are to find a picture online and Photoshop it.
IV.

Utilize Media & Materials

Students will watch me on secondlife first as I show them some how it works. Then student will
be expected to get on secondlife and find the capital of another state. Then find a picture of it
online and Photoshop it and show the class and explain why the chose that state.

V.

Require Learner Participation

All students will be required to participate in this lesson. They will be required to watch me and
then create their own secondlife and visit another state and its capital. Then find their own
pictures of that capital and present to the class.

VI.

Evaluate & Revise

Students will receive points for creating a secondlife and photoshoping a picture of that capital.
As well as, Photoshoping a picture of that state capital.
