Question 2
1. How does your media product represent particular
social groups?
2. I think that with my film introduction using a
familiar location and situation represents the
social groups of teenagers very well. This is
important because it’s a common situation that
teenagers find them in. Another benefit of this
is that this would make the film much more
familiar with the audience as it is easy to relate
to.
3. Even though this would be a great film for
teenagers, there may be a problem with an older
audience as they may have forgotten what the
teenage days were like which would make it
difficult for them to relate to this movie. My group
and I have purposely tried to challenge the forms
and conventions so we can therefore make it more
interesting for other social groups such as adults,
this would be challenging as attempting to draw in
other social groups has not been attempted before
as it carries a huge risk. This would be beneficial as
it would make it feel as if they are experiencing
something exciting and different.
4. Throughout the film opening we used a variety of
stereotypes such as when Ashraf called Reece and
Tanner, in films these past few years’ men are usually
the ones who drive the narrative, this follows that idea
and immediately reflects to the audience that he is a
leader. We have also gone against stereotypes an
example of this is where Ashraf wakes up in a park
and says 'what I'm I wearing' this here shows how we
have gone against stereotypes and it is also effective as
the audience will not know what to expect next. From
our props we have also followed the stereotypes such
as playing 'beer pong' is what's traditionally played at
parties this here will again make the audience very
familiar with what is going on.
5. Throughout the film opening we have
portrayed teenagers as lively people. However
we have not only portrayed them as being
lively we have also shown them to be very
irresponsible, throughout the party the
teenagers are constantly shown consuming
large amount of fluids and towards the end of
the party scene there are two boys passed out
on the floor this stereotypes the immaturity
and irresponsibility shown by teenagers at
parties.
