1. Use of big name to
promote the film and
gain a wider audience
from the actors fan
base.
The protagonist is
shown from behind on
his knees. This shows
him to be in a
vulnerable position and
emphasizes the
devastation of what's
happening. The
protagonists clothing is
casual creating the idea
that is just an ordinary
citizen. This allows the
audience to relate to a
character more in a
‘realistic’ disaster
situation. This is
emphsized by him
being in the helicopter
as it tells the audience
he has been rescued.
The fact he has been
rescued may also say he
is of importance.
The poster has no
zombie horror
signifiers apart from
the ‘Z’ which is
enlarged and blood
red. However this may
be misleading for the
audience as there is
no other sign of the
zombie horror.
Within this shot there
is a lot of information
shown about the
narrative. We can see
many helicopters,
which suggests the
military is involved
with this disaster.
The use of the city
building on fire implies
a large scale and
possible global
disaster that has
occurred. This tells the
audience this will be a
blockbuster film.
The colour of the shot
is desaturated causing
the city to look
gloomy and make the
idea of danger and
disaster effective.
