2. Masthead: The masthead
follows the codes and
conventions of XXL magazine
as the masthead is at the top
left of the cover page, most of
the masthead is covered by
the musician on the front
posing, this is consistent in
most XXL magazines. But its
not the largest font on the
cover, the largest is towards
the bottom of the page and is
the name of the musician this
is done purposely so the
reader can read the name
from afar, the masthead is still
big enough to catch the eyes
of the reader. The red and
white of the masthead goes
with the background which is
an American flag, so we can
see the consistency of the
colours red and white.
Barcode: On XXL magazines the barcodes position
varies and changes from the bottom left to the right.
Cover image: The mis en
scene of the cover is very
aggressive and
intimidating, this can be
seen through the posture
of the musician, he has
both hands clenched and
seems like he’s slouching
down as if he’s about to
fight, and also the
tattoos on his body as
they may infer that he
has gang relations.
3. House style: XXL
consistently uses the
colours red, white and
black through out the
its magazine and in
every one of its
magazines. The
contents page also
uses the same style of
font through out. XXL
tends to put their
page number in bold
and near the title of
the page.
Lure: The two
musicians are
good to lure more
customers in, this
because they are
well established
and both are
known across the
globe.
Layout: On their
contents page XXL
put their text into
columns so that
they can evenly
distribute the
words and still
leave space for the
pictures.
4. This is a double page spread from the
vibe magazine, the color scheme is on
color alongside with the main character
which is in a bright color that stands out
on the whole page.
The main character is
also presented in the
background in
different poses which
engages the
audience.
The text is all in columns
which makes it easier to read
an navigate around for the
reader.
The heading is in
bold and blue
which is a lighter
colour which
stands out from
the whole page.
