Here are some examples of print adverts for
 documentaries:
All print adverts contain certain conventions that they are expected
to follow. Here are some examples

1) Print adverts must contain a striking main image

This is used to grab the audiences attention and draw them
in, making them more intrigued about the show
Print adverts should always contain a slogan

They should be relevant to the topic, anchor the meaning of the
picture and have a significant effect on the audience, weather it
be humorous, a pun, or a piece of information that will draw the
audience in. For example, in the advert for the ‘David Blunkett
tapes’, the slogan used is ‘the man that saw it all’. This is a play
on words because David Blunkett is actually blind.
They always contain the channel logo and it is
usually placed in the same place, on the right
side of the screen next to the main image
Scheduling information should be clearly seen
on the print advert, so the audience knows
exactly when they can see the programme.
Sometimes, if they are in that days
  newspapers, they will just contain
‘Tonight,9pm’, however if they are being
advertised for in a few weeks time they
  should show the full date
They should contain a simple colour scheme,
sticking with only a dew different colours.
The colours used should be the same between
the logo and the slogan/schedule information
They should also be size A4 and usually
landscape. This makes them a lot easier to
import into magazines or newspapers quickly.
