LOOPS MEDIA
Convention 1: filter/theme
Often, an artist (or generally an 'influencer') will have a filter or theme over most posts. This can
either be a colour filter, a type of post or a shot angle. We have researched many artists that have a
red filter over their posts. Shot angles tend to vary between CU's and longshots, however there is
always more variation. Often, artists set up different accounts for different objectives. They will have
one page for relatable content, and then another account to promote their brand. This primarily
applies to instagram, however, it also applies to social medias such as Twitter and TikTok.
Convention 2: introduction (banner, profile
pic, bio, further links, etc)
This section is important for setting the tone of the
social media. They continue the theme explained
as convention 1. It includes:
Profile picture
Profile name
Banner
Bio
Website links/other links
Convention 3: promotional content
Artists will promote merch, videos, albums/singles, and other formats of media they release to their
audience. They often release content (trailer) specifically to be released on social media
Convention 4: 'selfies'
Selfies are more common on Instagram and Snapchat. This links into the relatability and is an attempt
to create the online appearance and personna.
Convention 5: relatability and interaction
This is portrayed through language used as well as competitions. This encourages the audience to
engage, therefore expanding the artists social media. This can include unprofessional posts, including
posts that are more personal.
Convention 6: caption
If a young artists is writing a captions or tweeting, they might use slang, emojis, hashtagging and
informal style.
Convention 7: advertisement
To monetise their social medias, they might have brand deals, in which they are obliged to post
(including #ad) something about a brand.

Social media conventions

  • 2. Convention 1: filter/theme Often, an artist (or generally an 'influencer') will have a filter or theme over most posts. This can either be a colour filter, a type of post or a shot angle. We have researched many artists that have a red filter over their posts. Shot angles tend to vary between CU's and longshots, however there is always more variation. Often, artists set up different accounts for different objectives. They will have one page for relatable content, and then another account to promote their brand. This primarily applies to instagram, however, it also applies to social medias such as Twitter and TikTok.
  • 3. Convention 2: introduction (banner, profile pic, bio, further links, etc) This section is important for setting the tone of the social media. They continue the theme explained as convention 1. It includes: Profile picture Profile name Banner Bio Website links/other links
  • 4. Convention 3: promotional content Artists will promote merch, videos, albums/singles, and other formats of media they release to their audience. They often release content (trailer) specifically to be released on social media
  • 5. Convention 4: 'selfies' Selfies are more common on Instagram and Snapchat. This links into the relatability and is an attempt to create the online appearance and personna.
  • 6. Convention 5: relatability and interaction This is portrayed through language used as well as competitions. This encourages the audience to engage, therefore expanding the artists social media. This can include unprofessional posts, including posts that are more personal.
  • 7. Convention 6: caption If a young artists is writing a captions or tweeting, they might use slang, emojis, hashtagging and informal style.
  • 8. Convention 7: advertisement To monetise their social medias, they might have brand deals, in which they are obliged to post (including #ad) something about a brand.
