2. MY PRODUCTS
This is my completed digipack, poster and also a screenshot
from the opening of my music video. There is a clear visual link
between the three products which will help the audience with
recognising the image and instantly connecting the products
together.
3. LOCATION
Due to the nature of my song ‘Ocean Drive’, and the title I chose to call the album, ‘High
Tide’, I thought it would be most suitable to set my music video at the beach. Because of
this I filmed almost the entire video on the beach and took photos for both the digipack
and poster at some of the same locations I filmed at. Therefore I chose to have the front
of my album cover, my poster and the opening of my video using exactly the same
location, which Is evident in the images below.
4. COLOUR
I colour corrected all of my photos and shots to add the same slightly pink tone to all of
them to ensure I had a clear colour scheme for all of my products. I think this colour
scheme connotes the feel of EDM music, as it is often released in summer and is
designed to make people dance. Therefore the bright colours used will reflect the
audience’s mood when listening to the music and watching the video. I think that by
using a specific colour scheme the audience are able to recognise the products and
associate them with each other as they are clearly linked. The screenshots of my music
video show how I colour graded the original shot to add the slightly pink tone.
5. GENRE CONVENTIONS
I believe my digipack does match those of conventional EDM album covers. This is because
a key location often used is images of the beach or sea and vibrant colours are used.
Tiesto’s album cover is set where there is palm trees, so likely to be a location near the
beach, similarly Calvin Harris’ album cover has images of palm tree leaves, and Sigma’s
album is an image of the beach and sea. As discussed before the front cover of my album is
an image of the beach. Furthermore the use of the pink tone and bright colours on my
digipack are also seen to be conventional from these examples of real media projects. This
is because pinks, blues, greens, yellows and oranges are all chosen by the artists of these
albums.
6. Through looking at existing media products it could be argued that my digipack, poster
and music video would be accepted by the audience. This is because I made obvious
visual links such as a consistent location and colour scheme which will help the audience
to recognise the products and associate them together. On the digipack and poster and
featured a barcode, social media and iTunes links and also copyright information to
make the products appear as realistic as possible.
