How effective is the combination
of your main product and ancillary
texts?
I also had both ancillary tasks included the album
title written in the sand and the sun image. This sun
image became like a logo for the album promotion.
The ‘written in sand’ affect also was unique to my
product and made my digipak and poster identifiable
as promoting the same product.
The model wears the same blue playsuit in the music video, poster
and inside the digipak. Not only is the clothing eye catching but it
works well for marketing my product because the audience will
recognise her on any of the formats. The recognisable, eye
catching outfit means that the audience who enjoy the music will
recognise her on the posters, which may be up in public display, or
in the music video wherever it may be playing. It also makes the
link between my ancillaries and main product clear.
My ancillary tasks have a very prominent beach theme and
while I do have several beach shots in my music video, I could
have much more.
My music video included much more greenery and nature
than the ancillary tasks, while in a way this may disrupt the
continuity, I think it makes the music video different and
stand out compared to the ancillary products. If I stuck to the
beach setting and limited myself to shots on the beach, it
may have resulted in a boring and restricting video.

Not only is the clothing eye catching but it works well for marketing my product because the audience will recognise her on any of the formats. The recognisable, eye catching outfit means that the audience who enjoy the music will recognise her on the posters, which may be up in public display, or in the music video wherever it may be playing. It also makes the link between my ancillaries and main product clear.
  • 4. My ancillary tasks have a very prominent beach theme and while I do have several beach shots in my music video, I could have much more. My music video included much more greenery and nature than the ancillary tasks, while in a way this may disrupt the continuity, I think it makes the music video different and stand out compared to the ancillary products. If I stuck to the beach setting and limited myself to shots on the beach, it may have resulted in a boring and restricting video.
