Who would be the
audience for your
 media product?
Which age group is it aimed at?
Considering the genre of my film ‘True disguise’ i
  believe that the target audience would be around
  the age of 15/16 and above. This is due to the story
  of the film as many people this age can relate to it.
  The fact that people would be able to relate to the
  film increases the chances of success. The target
  age was chosen after considering how well different
  ages will understand the story, the characters and
  the themes. This is very important as it can affect
  whether or not the audience will recommend other
  people to watch the film and this can have an
  impact on success.
Which gender is it aimed at?

This movie is aimed mainly at a female
  audience, this is because the main
  character is a female and the audience will
  be able to relate to her and therefore
  engage with the movie in an effective way.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs & how it
        relates to ‘True Disguise’
The hierarchy of needs relates to films and audiences in
  many ways. The audience can gain some of their needs
  by watching this movie. Even though the movie doesn’t
  provide physiological needs such as food it may
  provide security needs to the audience as they could
  compare their own life to the characters and realise
  they are in a better position than the protagonist or
  villain for example. Or if they are going through a
  similar situation to the characters the movie may
  provide advice. The movie also has the ability to fulfil
  social needs of the audience for example, a group of
  friends may get together to watch this movie, or it may
  create conversation after they have finished watching
  the movie.
Uses and Gratification theory
This theory suggests that media users have a role in
  choosing and using media. It is divided into 4 categories
  which are the following ; Diversion which means that
  audience need to escape from everyday life and
  relax, Personal relationships which gives an opportunity
  to audience to become part of particular social
  groups, Personal identity which means that audience
  may discover something about themselves while
  watching the movie as characters may reflect them etc
  & Surveillance which means that audience use media
  to find out about the world around them e.g. In
  celebrities lives etc. This can relate to my movie
  because the audience may experience some of these
  factors from Blumer and Katz’ uses and gratification
