2. Purpose
The purpose of my feedback survey was so that i could understand what kind of impact my
film would have against my target audience and how well it performed and if my message
was understood by the audience.
3. Secondary research
From the research I have been doing i have found out that even though you have aimed to
please a specific audience, the same audience may not respond to your film as you would
have liked but you may even get a better response from an unexpected target audience, you
can see this in the film 'Get rich or Die Tryin' where the majority of people that went to watch
were in fact (C1's) lower middle class, instead of the expected working class viewers, this
may be due to the fact they have enough money to fit into the middle class audience group
but still have that working class background, which allows them to relate and sympathies with
the struggle that goes on with the working class people in the hood/ghetto.
4. Audience research analysis
As you can see from the result of my survey the majority of people who
viewed my trailer were between the ages of 18 - 22, which partially fits into
my target audience bracket.
5. Audience research
I asked 10 people what genre they would put my film trailer in and 9 out of
10 people said urban, hood drama whilst the other put it romance, this
show’s that my film product was correctly identified by the audience who
viewed my film, meaning that i had correctly portrayed my chosen genre
as i had intended in the proper manor.
6. Audience research
I asked this question so i would be informed of the types of gender who that are interested in seeing the film product i
created, from the results we can see that the majority of people who watched my trailer were females then followed by
others. This did not meet my initial expectations, which i had thought the majority would be male candidates.
7. Audience research
From the research gathered i can see that a minority rated my product 3 and 4 starts whilst the vast majority rated it 5 stars
this was a great surprise for me because i did not know how well my product will perform and it performed well from what i
had gathered.
8. Audience research
100% percent of the people who participated in my survey after watching my film trailer, believed
that the name of my film ‘THE BACKROADS’ suited the storyline of the film, this was intentional on
my part i intended to convey struggle and pain that people on the streets go through and the type of
things they may be met with in the life time.
9. Audience Research
I wanted to make the to make the story complex and emotional but not to complex that the
viewer’s dont understand what is going on, this brought to my attention as you can see the
majority thought it was sort of easy to follow and very easy to follow, this shows that my
intentions were understood by the audience because they were able to keep up with the
storyline and not get lost.
10. Audience research
90% of the viewer’s said they will recommend this trailer to a friend, meaning that the majority of
people will promote my film to others seeing as how they enjoyed the trailer.
11. 100% of people said they would watch ‘The backroads’ if the full movie came out,
conveying to me that they all really enjoyed my media product. This got me thinking and i
have been making plans to create and actual movie and would hope that it would get the
same positive responses that this did.
12. Audience research
The majority of suggested improve spoke about wanting to see a larger woman role in the film, this shows that
even though my target audience was males between the specified age group my main audience were women
and they would like a strong woman role so it would be easier for them to relate to the realistic story of the
product. Furthermore a participant in my survey skipped this question meaning that they felt there was nothing
to improve on within my product in their opinion.
13. Audience research
I wanted to make clear in my film trailer who the main character was within my product, so i
wanted to find out if the viewers would pick up on that, as you can see from the results 80%
of the people realised that Travon was the main character while 20% of them were confused
and didn’t couldn’t figure out who the main character was.
Overall i would consider my film trailer to be a success because the majority of feedback
received from my viewer’s were positive and even though the majority of people had
something for me to improve upon they all said they would view my product if it came out.
