2. My magazine is aimed at men and
women aged 17-21.
I think Becci is represented as a
young struggling woman, I think this
story should relate to my audience.
My magazine will represent women
as being
strong, independent, confident and
have good willpower. I will portray
this view with pictures throughout
the magazine and quotations in my
feature.

music or indie) is music produced independently
from major commercial record labels or their
subsidiaries, a process that may include an
autonomous, Do-It-Yourself approach to
recording and publishing. The term indie is
sometimes also used to describe a genre (such as
indie rock or indie pop); as a genre term, "indie"
may include music that is not independently
produced, and most independent music artists
do not fall into a single, defined musical style or
genre and usually create music that can be
categorized into other genres.’

5. As you can see by these photos Becci is dressed in clothing similar to
that of the girl and boy on my ‘Dominant representation’ slide. This
clothing should automatically attract the right audience as they will
relate the ‘Indie’ look to the Indie music.
6. "The postures of both women are similar in the
sense that they’ve both got their hands raised.
They also share similar facial expressions. In
addition to this, both women are wearing similar
costumes – dark clothes, dark hair and red
lipstick. As well as this, the background setting is
very similar – both pictures were taken indoors
and are very dark. Also, they have similar
hairstyles. Overall I think that these elements of
the photos represent a young Indie girl, and that
my magazine reflects this throughout – the
people featured in my magazine are quite
rebellious looking – there’s nothing innocent
about their appearances."
7. This is Gertrude. She is 17 years old, and
lives in the centre of London. She wears
typically Indie styled clothing and buys
her clothes from ‘Urban Outfitters’ or
‘Topshop’. She also has a job at weekends
so therefore has disposable income.
She enjoys magazines like Q and
‘Kerrang!’. She enjoys reading about
celebrities and their personal lives, she
also enjoys Indie music. I think my music
magazine would appeal to this girl as she
fits the stereotype of a typically Indie girl.
The artist that is featured would also
appeal to her as is an Indie singer/song
writer.
