2. I based my final media product on various
other magazines to create a convincing finish.
After researching double page spreads I
realised that there should be at least a page of
information/interview about the artist and at
least two pictures throughout. I also noticed
how contents pages used short titles which
would hopefully make a reader interested in
having more information. They also had
around three images to attract readers to buy
the magazine.
3. As you can see I have gained some inspiration for my contents
page from this NME Contents page. I think that using at least three
images is important for a contents page as it shows that the
magazine has variety. I copied the puffs and made them larger as I
feel they are important. Although my contents masthead is not as
large as NME’s I feel it is effective as the contents page should
concentrate on images. I think that having a busy contents page is
important as it shows that the magazine will be exciting. I think I
should have put more information in to my contents page by
making the pictures smaller ETC.
4. I feel that my cover is similar to many
of the Indie styled covers that I have
researched. One thing that is
different is that I have my bands
names on the right hand side instead
of the left. I did this as I felt the
image looked odd when flipped and
the text can only fit on Becci’s left
hand side well. Although this is
unusual I feel that it works well.
Stereotypically Indie people do not
follow the ‘norm’ anyway.
5. I used this basic design to gain ideas for my double page
spread, although I did not follow it exactly. I feel that the
large title of the band name on the right page is
excessive and takes away from the story. I liked the way
in which they had a large picture covering a side of the
spread and also did this in my own work. I think this is a
good idea as readers could use it as a poster if they liked
the artist/band. I used polaroid styled photos in the
bottom left hand corner to relate to the story. The
graffiti in the background would also match my audience
of young adults along with her clothing.
