1. How does my media product
represent particular social groups?
2. On my magazine I have used plenty
of ways to represent the social
group of Indie genre.
3. To represent the indie social group I
made sure that her facial expressions
conveyed an Indie like attitude. So the
image I was trying to create was for her
to look laidback, smug yet calm giving
that sense of a straight up Indie attitude.
My target audience is 16-25 so the way
the artist “Faith Whitlow” is dressed with
the checked shirt and leather jacket
which follows the Indie look which would
appeal to the younger gender male as
that is what they are attracted to. And for
the older male audience the features on
the magazine would appeal to them such
as Kings of Leon and Red hot chilli
peppers as there very famous bands and
have been known for a while. Where as
to appeal to the female gender I Included
bands such as Mgmt and Bombay Bicycle
Club which they would be attracted to as
well.
4. The language I used in my
production was slang and
very informal as that
connotes Indie because it
is very laidback and is very
‘care-free’.
I featured these artists and bands which would
attract Indie fans.
5. The colours I used on my magazine Maroon/red, black
and white too attract the indie fans, as these are the
colours that are quite popular with the indie scene.
6. The hands in the crowd represent the care
free mood that the indie scene have.
The images used on my
contents page strongly link
with the indie fans, As it is full
of inspiring indie bands and
artist that have been around
the indie scene for a long time
and follow the indie genre for
example Coldplay. The images
from festivals are bold and
colourful which is very eye
catching. They also connect
with the indie scene as fans
that follow the indie status
are laid back and like to have
good time this includes
watching the bands they
enjoy to listen too Live.
7. My double page spread image shows Jacks body language looking
careless and disinterested which represents a straight up indie
attitude. With the brick coloured wall in the background it
represents that the genre indie can take something simple and
bland and turn it into something ‘different’ and unusual which the
indie scene is known by.
