2. Facebook
• Facebook is a useful social media site as it connects many people
together and can easily be used to promote my magazine.
• NME uses its Facebook page to remind readers when the newest
edition is coming out, for polls, behind the scenes images and
exclusives.
• As you can see in the image on the right, something from the
newest edition is always the cover photo and profile picture on the
page and this helps to remind people that the new edition is out
and is an incentive to go and buy it.
• Facebook also helps to introduce new readers as it can suggest the
page based on what people all ready like on the site and through
advertisement.
• NME have 512,938 likes on Facebook as of £0th January 2015, this
number is continually growing.
3. Twitter
• Twitter works well for short, frequent updates with links to the
magazine website and relevant images.
• Like with Facebook, NME use the newest magazine cover as a cover
photo, which reminds people of the new editions release.
• Twitter connects to more people than facebook and those who do
follow are more likely to see the posts due to the default newest first
on a twitter feed rather than the “top stories” of Facebook.
• Twitter suggests accounts similar to ones that you have already
followed and so this works for introducing fans of Rock to the
magazine. Also by promoting the account in the magazine, on of
readers are more likely to repurchase if they follow the account.
• NME have 733K followers on twitter and new people follow and
retweet their tweets every day, getting the brand out to more and
more people.
