Attracting Your Indie Music Magazine Audience
1. How would you attract/ address
your audience?

2. Firstly..
• I had to research into real music magazines on
the market today. I analyzed Q magazine and
NME as they are both extremely popular in the
market.
• However they do not fulfil the criteria I wish to
show in my own individual magazine, but they
do use a good use of language with an
interesting layout.
3. What I constructed..
• I constructed a questionnaire using survey
monkey on what my target demographic looks
for which was extremely useful.
• I did this via twitter and Facebook as my
audience frequently uses these sites.
4. What I learnt..
• . From this I learnt that my audience prefer an
image dominated magazine rather then text;
with an affordable price ranging from £1.00
and £2.00 due to disposable income.
• I also learnt that my audience would rather a
magazine promoting new and upcoming artists
and festivals as this is of great interest to
them.
5. Also..
• A monthly magazine which is worth there
money is vital in order to appeal to them.
• However they would also like to find out new
information on well know indie bands such as
arctic monkeys and crystal fighters
6. Attraction..
• With this information I intend to attract my
audience by using an interesting layout with a
consistent colour scheme. This should attract
the audience; standing out from the other
magazines.
• I have mainly used the colour scheme of dark
purples, greys and white. These colours are
stereotypical of the genre.
7. • On the front cover I have included lures into
what is included in the magazine; in order to
entice and intrigue them into reading the
magazine.
8. Aim..
• I plan to address my audience by using
sophisticated language throughout without
sounding too formal therefore they can relate to
the magazine more.
• I have used a range of personal pronouns such as
‘you’ and ‘your’ in order to involve them more
creating a personal approach between the article
and the audience. Therefore they are able to relate
and enjoy the reading.
9. Images..
• . By using a quote from the artist makes the
whole text body more relatable to the
audience.
• Also I have used images with a direct mode of
address which makes the audience feel as if
they are being directly aimed at.
10. Web 2.0
• . I have also created a twitter and Facebook page in
order for the audience to interact with latest of the
magazine. This is due to the target demographic
being known as technologically savvy with frequent
use of web 2.0.
• This will enable them to leave comments and
feedback and also have a closer interaction with the
editor in order to appeal to them more with there
say in the issue.
