How does my magazine use, develop or challengeforms and conventions of real magazines?• My magazine uses many conventions of a realmagazine. These include putting images ofcelebrities on the front cover with stories aboutthem to make the audience want to read. I alsoplaced short and interesting headlines to attract awider audience, that will be in more detail insidethe magazine.
How does my magazine represent particularsocial groups?• I represent a typical college student who is doinghis AS Levels at college. My music magazinerepresents musicians of this genre and focuses onyounger adults and teenagers who enjoy listeningto the music that is found in my magazine.
What kind of media institution mightdistribute my magazine?• For my magazine, I would choose a distributioncompany that already distributes multiplemagazines that are well known to the public. Forthis reason, I would choose IPC Media as theydistribute many magazines such as NME, Nuts andNow.
Audience for my magazine• The target audience for my music magazine wouldprobably be teenagers, young adults and any otherpeople who may like rock music. The targetaudience could be any gender, but is more likely bemore towards males.
How did I attract my audience?• I attracted the audience for my magazine by usingseveral methods, such as placing well known bandson the front cover to attract their attention and Ialso put stories on the front cover that the audiencewould feel intrigued to know about, but they haveto read the main article inside to read the rest ofthe story.
What have I learnt?• During the process of making my magazine, I haveused new software such as Adobe Photoshop. Thishas given me the ability to remove any errors thatthere may be in photos that I had taken for mymagazine. I have also learnt that the use ofquestionnaires on internet survey sites can hugelyhelp with research into contents and targetaudience for your magazine.
Progression to the full product• Over the past several months in media, we havelearnt about many new types of software andmethods to improve our work in class. This couldbe anything from the use of photo editing software(Photoshop) to remove errors or improve thequality of a photo, or simply researching layouts ofmagazines from the internet for use towards ourown projects.
