The document discusses different costume ideas for portraying an artist in a magazine spread. It considers jumpers, jeans, and casual clothing to depict the artist's normal life before fame. It aims to show the artist looking like an ordinary person rather than dressed extravagantly. Heeling and expensive shoes are excluded to further this theme. A second idea involves a simple dress or jeans and top to look dressy but not revealing. A third and final idea is a more sporty look like what Jessie J wears to appear rock/pop. The goal is for the artist to appear natural and real rather than "caked in makeup."
1. I have looked into many different magazine
clothing ideas, jumpers and jeans were a
frequent clothing that was on the cover of some
POP magazines. I found that this jumper is
casual and ties in with my theme of how the
artist lives a normal life. I was thinking of taking
various shots with different jumpers and tops this
is because the colour of the jumper isn’t set in
stone so I would like to try out the various
options.
2. Black jeans are frequently used in magazine covers
as they’re match with everything and can project
power and elegance. Black jeans and a jumper are
what most people own so this clothing idea makes the
artist look like an ordinary person apposed to some
magazines where they’re dressed in dresses and
expensive clothing something not all readers can
afford.
3. I am not going to use high heels or flashy
expensive shoes purely because I don’t
own any, also I wanted to make my artist
seem like a real person rather then have
them looking like an A-list celebrity who
lives a Hollywood life. This is because the
theme of my magazine is the artist life
before fame and how they escape to
normal life.
5. Costume 2
This costume idea is more dressy then the others, I don’t want my artist to be dressed in revealing
clothing as it goes against my story line as I don’t want my artist to be projected like that. I was thinking
of a simple dress or jeans and a nice top, this is easy access for me and looks simple but dressy. For
the shoes I was thinking maybe some boots or nice shoes. Example Artists would be Beyoncé or
Rihanna, they always look glamorous as they wear fancy clothing. They’re usually fully made up in
Make-up and wear minimal clothing. This is something I can’t replicate in my magazine as it doesn’t
follow the restricted guide lines. All these pictures show the artist in a position that makes them look
powerful this is something I could replicate within my magazine.
6. Costume 3
For my final design I was thinking of doing a more sporty version, for
example artist such as Jessie J who opt to dress in more ‘tomboy’
clothing making them look more rock pop. This could be an ideal
costume and
8. Out of these three pop music magazines a clear convention is that the
celebrities aren’t ‘caked’ in makeup, making them look more natural and
real. This is something I’d like to do in my magazine as the theme I’m
going for is the natural stars life and how they escape from the pop star
life.
