8. Idea
Generation/Initial
Reaction
My idea for my project dips into
the lore of Slenderman (The
game). Its as if my audio is an
Easter egg in the already made
game, you find the tape, you
put it in the tv and the tape
plays a recorded audio which
plays until at the end of it you
hear the jump scare sound from
Slenderman and you hear
footsteps behind you, its going
to be a little bit creepy and
make your heart race I hope.

• Shaun of the Dead FOLEY -

• What went well- I enjoyed making
the sounds and it was relatively
easy despite all the distractions
from people speaking.
• What could be better- if we had
some equipment to make some
better sounds.
• What I have learned – it’s easy to
make noises but it’s hard to sync
them up and make them sound
realistic to the clip.
12. Recording
• Me and my group recorded around our local areas – in the college shop,
outside college and in a nearby street, I found that it was quite challenging
because of disturbances
e.g. – people speaking, car noises, seagulls ruining quality of audio and also
dogs.
• but overall I enjoyed doing it because it gave me a chance to try out new
things had never done, although we had to rerecord a couple times
because of said previous disturbances it was overall great and we got all of
our audio in the end ( although they could have been better quality).
13. Proposal
Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to
the gender? Etc.)
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What did you learning during research that will help you?
15. Story
• •POV: You’re walking through the shadowy, dark, and... Somehow loud forest. You're being chased, you can feel
it, it's cold and the wind is wild and it cuts through your clothes, making you feel numb. You hear loud footsteps,
someone else is in here with you, you look back.
• •A tall skinny faceless pale man is staring at you with an unmoving stature. You're scared and your instincts kick
into speed. As you run across broken branches and dead leaves you see a light in the distance ‘what is that?’ you
wonder, could it be someone else, an escape maybe?
• •As you approach the far across illumination you see it isn’t a person but a tv with an old cassette player “what
the hell?” you said to yourself, suddenly you hear something in the distance and you duck down to hide, slowing
your breathing and looking down as you do so. Branches snap and leaves rustle and that.. Thing.. walks by. Your
heart races and you look towards the tv and the cassette player.
• •You quickly try to look for a tape, ‘maybe this is important’ you ponder as you eventually uncover a tape in the
wet leaves.
• •The tape is small in size and it looks... Old? You look around and listen before you finally insert it into the
player. Suddenly the once fuzzy screen springs into an undershot of a person. They seem alarmed as they say
the following words...
• •“Log one. This forest is huge right?” They laugh to themselves. “You ready to explore this man?” they seem to
talk to another person. “yea dude.” the other replies.“Alright let's go!” the tape abruptly cuts to another part.
“Team..? Team!” they seem to shout. And then let out a short sigh “they must be messing with me.” they laugh
uncomfortably. “I know you guys are there! Reply to me!” they sigh once again. In the background, there is a
loud sound of something snapping “John... Sean? Stop messing with me already. "The tape cuts once again and
this time it is just rapid breathing and a very obscured audio plays from the tv. “Log five. I don’t know where my
team is. I feel as if I'm being watched from somewhere and I keep hearing things behind me, I'm worried, This
forest seems as if it never ends. "A scary static sound is heard in the distance as the tape cuts once again “Log
twenty-two. I'm losing hope“ they sound defeated. The tape starts to jump forward in the logs. “IT'S AFTER ME”
“GO” “RUN” “I'm losing hope” it repeats whilst static fills your eyes once again. “Log twenty-five. I saw
something, I'm not going crazy, am I? I don’t know how long I've been here for and my torch is almost out of
battery,” you hear the shaking of a shake-torch “ugh why did I even come here, oh is that someone over there..?
Hey!! Yo!! You Okay over there?! Wait.. What” static cuts the tape again. “LOG THIRTY. IT'S NOT HUMAN, IT'S
TALL IT HAS NO FACE. AND IT'S COMING AFTER ME. HELLO? IS ANYONE THERE?” they shout. Screaming and a
static noise is heard “HEELPPPP AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” “you need to collect the pages.” Then… The tape ejects.
• •You sit back in disbelief, are you ever going to be able to leave? Why did you come here? You suddenly hear
branches snap once again behind you. You scream and that all-to-familiar static noise is heard once again.
• •You should have never come.

24. Daily
Reflection
Day 1
• Im feeling pretty
confident, I used a lot of
sound effects to make a
eerie effect and I think it
was perfectly done so and
it is seen in my work. I
just edited a lot today
and got all of my audio
together and imported it
25. Daily
Reflection
Day 2
• Same as yesterday,
I'm feeling pretty
good about this. And
I think the turnout of
my project will be
really good
26. Daily
Reflection
Day 3
• Today I’m editing
again and adding all
the sound effects I
need and I think its
going to turn out
great
27. Daily
Reflection
Day 4
• I have finally finished
my project and all of
the people I've
shown my audio to
think its really good.
29. Research
• I think my research helped my
project greatly as it allowed me
to get a more in depth feel for
what I was going for.
• The weakness of my research is
that not everything I wanted to
find out was online and I couldn’t
find some things I needed, I
could have made up my own
story instead but I wanted to
stick to the original story as it
seemed easier for me to
complete.
30. Planning
• I think my planning was quite good as I
envisioned what I had to do and I think I’ve
achieved it. The strengths of my planning are
that it is quite straight forward and I didn’t
have to double-check myself as much as I
would have done if I didn’t make it simplistic,
I knew what I had to do and I did It.
• The weakness of my planning is that I don’t
give much detail and I think I show detail in
my work better than I could do if it was on
paper. I think I should do research on how to
plan things with more detail and that would
make my product better – because it would
make more sense to the person that is
reading it.
31. Time
Management
• My Time management was pretty
okay as I got everything together in
the end and everything seemed to
work out great but I could have had
a better plan with my time that
would help me with working out
what to do when it got hard at
some points.
• If I had more time to produce my
work I think it would have made a
more balanced product and I could
have made more things with my
audio (surround sound)
32. Technical
Qualities
• My work is a bit unique compared to existing
products as I haven’t really heard anything like my
work in media before except in small quantities. For
my audio I wanted 2 male voices just because I
thought it would be a lot more jarring to hear a man
scream. For my effects I used scary music to
accentuate how creepy the atmosphere is.
33. Aural
Qualities
• My work sounds really good and I believe it is
creative.
• I like how I added even the tiniest of details – static
from the tv, leaves rustling, branch breaking ectr.
• I would improve the voice acting? It just didn’t
really fit what I was going for but I am thankful for
the voice actors. If I had the money I would hire a
professional vice actor to give me what I really
wanted.
• I think the overall weakness of my project is some
of the sound effects sound a little bad where they
are, I wish I could have made my own sound effects
to help with this but I had very little time.
• The strength overall is the music and the tenseness
of the atmosphere I have created with my audio
34. Audience
Appeal
• I think my target audience would be teenagers that
are really into creepypastas / horror games and I
think I have succeeded into bringing this appeal to
them as all of my audio is creepy and I think the fact I
used slenderman really pushes that creepypasta vibe
and I think that they would enjoy this
Editor's Notes
Go over as many slides as necessary. Research at least 3 products.
Discuss the use of sound effects, music and performance. How have the producers suggested a location/time period and created a tone/feel
Try to break down what you can hear. How do the different sound elements work together? How do sound effects add to the drama? What part does music play in the work?
Try to listen to a variety of different types of radio programme. If you listen to drama and documentary, you will give yourself a better understanding of what exists and what is possible. It will also help guide your project.
