Rough Edit Evaluation
In this evaluation I will be writing the good points about the rough edit
version of my music video and the things that I could do to improve it.
For this unit I was assigned the task of creating a music video in a group
with a song of our choice. The song we chose was Radioactive by Imagine
Dragons, which is an indie/rock song and was a good choice since it fit
the script we had created quite nicely.
With my edit I used the singer singing the full song as the first line of the
edit and worked around it so that I didn’t have to keep cutting into the
same footage and having to sync the video to the audio over and over
again. I used a lot of small cuts for the intro of the song that lasted about
5 seconds long. I am happy with this beca use it will keep the audience
interested because of the short changing intervals. I will need to re -shoot
some of the guitar parts because the guitarist smiles during the scene so
it loses the seriousness of the music video. Overall I am happy with the
intro because the camera angles vary quite nicely and the actions of the
guitarist and singer fit the storyboard and the audio track.
From the scenery shots we gathered during the recording process, I used
them to move the scene from different locations such as: The singer in
one location then a scenery shot of the next location and then the s inger
would be in that location Or changing from singer to guitarist. Some of
the scenery shots are a little shaky, so I will be rerecording them again
and adding more shots to fill in parts of the video as it gets dull. This w ill
also give me more variation and make the video looks more professional
because I will be using different shots and camera angles.
Finally I would change in the music video is the way I have ord ered
the scenes. The scenes in the rough edit are jumbled because I did
not have all the content I needed or scenes need to be re shot. When I
record the rest of the content I need I will re arrange the content I
have to fit easier and make it look like a more structured music
video. Camera angles are a key aspect of any music vi deo, I will need
to record more of them like, Close-ups, longshots and hard camera
angles like pan shots.
