2. In the creation of my music video I used lots of media technologies, such as Internet websites and Television. YouTube and Facebook are only some of the websites I used, these websites helped me construct my music video through interacting with my friends for ideas for a music video. Picking a good song which I enjoy listening to and would be a good song for the style of music video which I wanted to do, all of these helped my construct my music video.
3. YouTube helped me research my music video by finding influences through other music videos such as Oasis – champagne supernova which I tried to capture the slow movement of the camera, the number of shots used to represent the speed of the song and then speeding up to fit the tempo of the song. Youtube also helped plan my music video through looking at other music videos and finding out better ways to illustrate a music video, such as the video for Blur – Country House. In that music video I liked some of the illustrative techniques used in this video such as the lyric “an animal farm” the star image (Damon Albarn) points to an image of farm animals, in my video the lyric “heart and soul” I create a heart shape and hold up the soul of a shoe.
4. I also used television in my research and planning, by watching music channel that fits in with my genre such as NME TV, MTV ROCKS and Q. This helped me gain more knowledge about how a real media product with the same genre as my song should look and what techniques directors use the represent the speed of the song. I have used some of the techniques these directors, in my video the tempo picks up and to represent that I used a lot of the same shot, but at different angles at a high speed to keep in time with the song, another video that did this was The White Stripes – The Hardest Button To Button, in this video each beat of the song created a new set of drums or amplifier, the faster the beats the more drum kits and amplifiers appeared.
5. Final cut is a video editing program that I used the edit all of my music video on. I had to use I movie in my last years media product, but this year I only had to use in the import my video footage on to my computer then transfer it over from I mo vie to final cut. I found the final cut was harder to get used to, that was only because I movie was set out to be simple, but didn’t have all the features that I movie had, this allowed me to do more things I could do with my footage, such as creating motion paths and image wire frame tools, which I used in my music video.
6. To create my advert and digipak I used Photoshop, on this program I imported images that I wanted to use on these media products, in order to make my digipak look more like a real media product I measured a normal CD case and used the exact measurements to help plot my images and text into the CD. Photoshop also allowed me to layer different images so I could have the images I want at the front and to create backgrounds. A website called DaFont linked in with my use of Photoshop by going on this website and selecting a font I wanted to use, some thought went into this decision, such as how readable it was and how that style went with the genre of the artist.
