1. Music Video Rough Edit Evaluation
The music video above is my rough edit for the song Empire by the Drum and Bass
Producer Spor. I wanted the music video to relate similar to the genre with a hard hitting
music video that goes well and I have accomplished that from my eyes. In this
evaluation though I am going to talk about the rough edit itself and then go into detail
what i’m going to change for the Final edit of the video.
As it is only a rough edit i wasn’t expecting it to be as good as the final edit is going to
be as the video itself is just behind the script as it doesn’t follow the script exactly, which
is something i’m going to touch up on the final edit, that is the main thing I want to get
sorted. If it isn’t the same as the script, I just see it as sloppy and unprofessional even
though if it is a few seconds behind or ahead of the script. In ways of editing though,
there are a few things I want to touch upon or add.
Firstly Is what I am going to do to the whole video, I’m going to hopefully change the
resolution to 16:9 so there is the two borders at the top, not too much that they take up
the whole video but in the way that the video is very visible and easy to view, if it turns
out that the video is no longer viewable then I will have to scrap the idea. Secondly is
another thing i’m adding to the whole video but this one is a definite, I want to turn the
whole video into black and white, I saw it in a music video I watched before and the way
it was used made the video much better than it would be if that if it was in colour, and in
my opinion the same is going to apply here because I don’t think that having it in colour
is a good idea. I also think it is a good idea as It will help make the shots that are just a
bit blurry or much brighter than the usual shots to be more viewable than it would be
without editing, though this can be sorted in colour correction, I think it will be much
better in black and white. Finally I am going to add in the slow motion effect to only
certain shots which is going to make the scenario more effective and professional, the
shots that I do want to add the Effect to are the ones with the baseball bats, Definitely
adding the effect when the batsman swings towards the object(s) and quite possibly
when the the object(s) has been hit which is going to be used to show how badly the
object(s) has been damaged as there are only things that last for just a few frames so
with the slow motion effect you would be able to see them more clearly.
So this is what is going to be hopefully/definitely going to be added to my music video,
depending on how well they work will determine if they are going to stay in the video or
not.
