Rough sketches
Masthead- The masthead will be in the top
left of the page which allows it to be visible
to the audience. This is a common
convention of this type of magazine genre,
as it is first in the eye line to the consumer
and therefore needs to capture their
attention against the competitors.
Strapline- The strapline is placed under
the main image next to the main
headline as well. This anchors the
subject of all three and reinforces the
brand’s identity.
Cover lines- my cover lines will be
placed on the side of the page, so it
doesn't take away attention from the main
image. They will consist of the stories with
the magazine and again entice the
audience to purchase to read on. This will
cover almost all aspects of the music
genre, from upcoming events to known
and unknown artist, to fashion and
lifestyle.
Main image- the main image is
placed in the middle of the page, so it
is in the center and gains the most
attention that it can. This will feature
the artist that has the DPS inside,
this will be the first glimpse of the
subject and therefore needs to be
striking and capture the attention of
the audience, a mid shot would
Main Headline- The main headline will be
found under the main image because this will
anchor the main image and entice the reader
in to the purchase. This will be a short
phrase, name of artist and quote or key
words about the content of the article inside.
This also helps to promote the content to a
new consumer who may not know the
subject as well and loyal customers who
Barcode and pricing- the barcode and price
will be in the corner of the front cover, this is
essential as it needs to be visible to scan and
provides the essential information to be able
to purchase the product, however isn't part of
the information given to ‘inform and educate’
(Katz) the reader and therefore placement
needs to not detract attention from the genre
and style of the magazine.
Rough sketches
Main Headline- The main
headline will be found under the
main image because this will
introduce the subject of the
main image and will anchor the
interview and image together,
creating pleasing unity.
Main image- the main image is
placed to one side of the page,
conventionally the left, as it gains
the most attention that it can as it is
the first source of information upon
turning the page for the reader.
Drop capital- will be found in the top
corner of where the interview is which
will make the page more appealing and
clearly mark to the reader where the
interview and text begins.
Stand first- the stand first will be seen
near the headline so they can see the
introductory about the story, this will
introduce the person of the interview
and give a brief overview of the tone of
the piece and what will be covered, also
if a new artists this will introduce them
and promote upcoming achievements
of theirs.
At the bottom of every page you will be
able to see the page number, this
creates continuity throughout the
product and gives the reader more
freedom and structure on how they
wish to read the information. There will
also be the brand logo this is essential
as it promotes the brand and reinforces
the reader to recognise the magazine.
Final sketches
First of all, I would have the masthead at the top left corner of the front cover, this is due to the
fact that the masthead needs to be highly visible to the audience that will be looking at it; it being
in the top left will be appealing to the audience with bright colors for example, to try and attract
them to want and buy the magazine. This is also a common placement which was discovered
through researching and analysing similar magazines of this genre. Also, I will have a pull quote
so that the customers can see that there is a quote relevant to the article and entice them to
purchase the product to read further. Furthermore, I will also have puff promotions and social
media links which could lead to more consumers and add to the brand’s technical convergence.
Finally, I will have cover lines down the side of the front cover, this is because I don’t want to draw
any attention from the main image but want to continue to ‘inform and educate’ (Katz) the reader
on all aspects of this music genre and therefore need to provide information to capture their
attention to read on.
House style and Colour
Scheme
Color Scheme
My colour scheme for the magazine I prefer is monochrome and red. This is due to the fact after
looking at other magazines of the genre of music I discovered many followed this house style
especially Q magazine. This seems to be a common choice which indicates my audience already
prefer this format therefore adapting that to my magazine will ensure sales. In my opinion this is
due to the clean formal approach it gives and the fact it doesn't’t distract form the content within
but works with the information to be most informative for the audience.
Font Style
The font style I am using is Obelix pro for main headings and titles. This is because it goes with
my rap theme and for people who don’t already know the magazine, when they first see it this will
help them to tell what genre the magazine is, this is due to the fact that the font looks a bit like
graffiti but a neater version which could convey to the audience that my genre of my magazine is
Rap. This font also looks very unique which is what I wanted on my magazine as the colour
scheme/house style are similar to others out there in the market already it needed its own
individual unique selling point.

$TACKZ
RapCity
$tackz can connote how much money an
individual has this is a rap term used ,
furthermore in this way it will be illustrating
that someone who is in the magazine has
lot of money from music.
Rapcity connotes the
magazine will feature all
the best rappers in a
specific city e.g
somewhere in London.
This could continue to
Sectioned
All of the best artists are
sectioned off in to this
magazine which will convey
that this magazine will contain
all the best artists. This subtly
conveys to the audience the
layout of the magazine from
the first glance.
Music
Madness
Music madness could convey that all
of the music released in this
magazine may be seen to the
audience as a madness, which could
attract more people to want to read
the magazine.
All of these names on this
slide were ideas that I
thought that I could of
used for my masthead on
my magazine, but I ended
up using $tackz
Images of influences
S For trying to pick ideas for my magazine, I used existing
magazines to try develop good ideas to be able to
produce my magazine as best as possible. For example
ideas that I could have used would be something like the
font that another magazine used that could of attracted
me to use it.
Mood board first magazine
Mood board- $tackz
I chose two nice cars which a are both Lamborghinis, I chose this
because these cars are very expensive and top class which
therefore means the person who owns them must have a lot of
money so therefore this will convey the artist on the magazine.
These valentinos in the picture are very expensive shoes so therefore
this will also convey the artist having a lot of money which is the
competition in rapping.
Both moodboard are very similar because the genre of the magazines
are similar. One is HIP-HOP and one is RAP.
Interview draft
S Hello, how are you?
S I'm good thanks mate, you
S When your next show?
S 14th of December , going to get shutdown bro you should com
S London man, my hometown, where I first started music, where I met my pals from music
S I got a couple people rolling through, that’s on the low though.gh, whens the album dropping as well can’t wait for that to drop.
S That’s a little bit after the tour man, thinks its early January trust it will be sick think I got about 7 to 8 songs coming out on that
album, when it drops I will send you a copy for free man.Much appreciated mate, can’t wait for the tour and the album.
S Yh neither can I bro, I am struggling to right lyrics at the moment am going through quite a bad time in the music industry that’s why
I haven’t been releasing much man.
S Why what has happened, catch me up I haven’t spoken with you in ages!
S Basically, cut a long story short I done a bad thing went too prison but that’s all in the past I am a changed man now want to carry
on writing music.
S Yeah man, whilst your in their it is different to how you would think, if you haven’t been in prison then you won’t realize how hard life
is in there, but when I was in their yes I did write a couple songs one of which is on YouTube now called jail pain, it is just all about
life in there and how very few people visited me and the poor quality of food that I was eating ect, also I am on the process of writing
a track which will be part 2 when I went back in prison soon after.
S Oh no, I never heard the first jail pain but I will look at it later, someone told me about a prison song coming out with a few people
featuring on it.
S Yes it will be lit bro trust me on that one, but honestly keep holding tight because my new ep is coming out which 5 new hot tracks
are going to be coming out in a couple months.
S Yes that is what I like to hear, the old you is coming back and with more progression, when was the last song out then if you been in
prison for this whole time?
S My last song must off been a good year back and a half ago, on link up TV making money featuring young trapper. The one that
was recorded on the top of the building do you remember?
S Yes mate, I do remember now that was ages ago, nice speaking to you anyway.
Test photography
Test photography continued
S For my test photography I have had to do take some
photos to give myself a variety of photos to pick for my
front cover. I have taken some photos of myself who I am
the artist for my front cover. I have decided to choose this
photo because I think it is the best photo of the 4 I have
taken. A factor why the test photography can be seen as
good as it gives you a chance to see what the photos will
look like.
Prop list
S For my photographs for my issue, I didn’t need any more
equipment or any props. This is because I only need a camera
and the individual that is going to be In the picture. Therefore this
specific person will need a few different outfits in able to have a
variety of different photos which will allow me to pick out of a
variety of pictures. The camera that was used for my photography
was a Nikon D3300 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm this is due
to the fact that I want my photo’s to as professional as possible. I
borrowed this camera from school as they have the best quality
cameras around.
S If I was to have some props in my magazine I would have some
musical instruments like a microphone to make it look more
professional and more of a music magazine.

Conclusion
S To include lo1, I will justify all of my ideas that will help me create
and form my magazine, e.g. the staff and equipment needed and
how much that will cost. Also it will conclude the rough sketches
and final sketches which will be over my hand drawn drafts of my
front cover, which in this case is ‘$tackz’.
S Overall to conclude my magazine and if I was to make another
one in the future one improvement that I would do is to think
through what your picture is going to be and the equipment/prop
that is going to be in main photo for your front cover, e.g include a
rapper with a microphone to make the front cover seem more
professional and this will illustrate what your genre is in your
magazine.
Location Recce
I had to create a location
recce to identify any
potential risks or
hazards that could take
place in the process of
taking pictures and
making the magazine.
Software risk assessment
S When I was creating my magazine front cover and my DPS for my magazines I made sure that all the segments throughout
both magazines I made sure it looked as professional. For example when inserting an image, and resizing it I make sure
that I hold down the shift key when resizing because if you don’t follow this procedure then the image may become
pixilated and loose the images quality due to not holding down the shift key so therefore I make sure I hold it to make my
images have the best quality. Another procedure that is essential to follow is when inserting text to a magazine make sure
that a ruler tool is used so that the writing doesn’t overlap any images which also furthermore, makes it look
unprofessional..
S Lastly, for every magazine that I have created I have used the same colour scheme so therefore when someone from the
audience has already previously seen my magazine they should be able to recognize it which may boost the amount of
sales that I get because more people may recognize it which may make them want to buy it.
S Software risk Assessment can be seen as resizing and image but using the ‘shift key’ which will allow you to be able to
make the picture smaller and by pressing the shift key it will keep the picture looking professional due to it still having its
high quality, but furthermore if you do not do this will lead to a pixelated picture and it will be warps which makes the
photo look unprofessional. This technique is when resizing images whilst still keeping the quality of the photo high and
preventing the photo from becoming stretched and distorted.
S Eyedropper Tool- To maintain consistency and professionalism throughout my magazine ‘$tackz’, on Photoshop their is
a good and efficient tool called the ‘eyedropper tool’ that’s helps to choose the colour of a specific object that will be on
the front cover, then you will have the chance to save this colour and be able to use it again which keeps the front cover
professional, because you save the colour allowing you to use it again which will furthermore improve your front cover as
you will have the same colours which will make it professional. Also when making a new object such as a textbox or a
shape I can just click on the previous saved colour so I can use it again which is also quicker and more precise as the
colour has been previously saved. This furthermore speeded up colour choosing for me as well as keeping it as
professional as possible.
Hazards at work place
The health and safety act, Often referred to as HASAW or HSW, this Act of
Parliament is the main piece of UK health and safety legislation. It has 13
different headings and 10 different schedules which will consist of commissions,
regulations and provisions. These duties are about a specific individual that is
employed as is currently working, but it is the fact that the individual has to be
safe at work and try not to injure themselves and if anything does occur at work,
for example the person working does get injured then they will have to write
down what has happened and if it is a serious injury then it may have to involve
going to the hospital then it may become more serious. It Is essential that at
every work place that the surroundings and health by every employee for that
specific business gets controlled regularly and if there is any problems then the
manager will need to be informed as soon a possible.
http://www.hse.gov.uk/legislation/hswa.htm
I created a consent form to
make sure the Person that
was involved in the pictures
of my magazine was aware
of the risks and hazards
that could be involved and
how we will overcome
Ethical and legal issues
S The independent press standards organizations (IPSO) who are an independent
regulator who set out rules and regulations that media companies are in competition
with. We hold newspapers and magazines to account for their actions, protect
individual rights, uphold high standards of journalism and help to maintain freedom
of expression for the press. They hold newspapers and magazines to account for
their actions, protect individual rights, uphold high standards of journalism and help
to maintain freedom of expression for the press.
S The ASA is a non-statutory organization and so cannot interpret or enforce
legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in
many instances.
S Ethical Issue is a essential part of producing a magazine because if there are ethical
issues that are found in a magazine when it is published, complaints could be sent
to the publisher complaining about a specific ethical issue that may harm the person
reading the magazine.
https://www.asa.org.uk
https://www.ipso.co.uk
Ethical and legal issues
continued
Ip/watermark- content that usually has been used for copyright can be referred as ‘IP’ which
furthermore means Intellectual property which means that it belongs to someone else but you
are using it for the meanwhile for progress in your work, which this is also protected by the law
and government. IP allows owners and trade markers to be benefitted from their own work and
investment. This is furthermore essential because for my magazine I have not used copyright
as all the work is mine and is protected due to the fact that it has all be wrote by myself.
Royalties- A royalty is a payment to an owner for the use of property, especially patents,
copyrighted works, franchises or natural resources. The NLA newspaper licensing company
which sell licenses to newspaper and now they have started selling magazine contents. If an
individual has created some information that they are using for some work, and another person
wants to use this information then the will have to pay the creator to use this information, which
furthermore is what I have done in my magazine because it contains information that will
include original content which will need to be protected.
Ethical issues- With my magazine if anyone finds that there is a problem in the magazine
then they will have to contact myself to choose whether the alternatives are right with will be
ethical or wrong which is unethical. When releasing my magazine I must make sure that I don’t
advertise something that is false because this could lead to complaints coming in from the
audience of your magazine . For example pricing your magazine wrong by saying on the
magazine that it is £2.99 when really it is getting sold in Tesco for £3.50 which is unethical
because you are lying to the audience about how much you are really selling your magazine at.
Safe working practices
S As I have already said in my PowerPoint before a quick
an accessible way to remove a background of a
photograph or image on Photoshop, the way to do this
quick is to go to where the tool bar on the left side of the
screen on Photoshop go down to the ‘magic wand’ and
scroll over it and it should come up with quick selection
tool and magic wand toll but the one to use is the quick
selection tool which then you need to click everywhere
that you want to remove, the best way to do this is slowly
as if you go to quick then this could lead you to removing
to much. But furthermore, go slowly and once you have
clicked everything that you want to remove click enter
and the background should go. On the left is an example
of when I have used the quick selection tool to remove a
background of on of my images
IP Trademark
https://www.gov.uk/topic/intellectual-property/trade-marks
Conclusion
Within this lesson object for unit 14 l01, l02 I have completed the
following tasks to try and get the best results possible. To
conclude this lo I had to justify how to stay safe in a workplace
without hurting myself or another individual whilst working, which
is essential because is it significant that you follow the procedures
of how to stay safe at work then you will be safe and should never
fall injured. Also I had to complete the location Reece where I had
to fill out where my pictures where taken, who took them, the
equipment needed and lastly the potential hazards that could of
occurred whilst on going these pictures being taken.

Unit 14- l01 l02

  • 1. S
  • 2.
  • 3. Rough sketches Masthead- The masthead will be in the top left of the page which allows it to be visible to the audience. This is a common convention of this type of magazine genre, as it is first in the eye line to the consumer and therefore needs to capture their attention against the competitors. Strapline- The strapline is placed under the main image next to the main headline as well. This anchors the subject of all three and reinforces the brand’s identity. Cover lines- my cover lines will be placed on the side of the page, so it doesn't take away attention from the main image. They will consist of the stories with the magazine and again entice the audience to purchase to read on. This will cover almost all aspects of the music genre, from upcoming events to known and unknown artist, to fashion and lifestyle. Main image- the main image is placed in the middle of the page, so it is in the center and gains the most attention that it can. This will feature the artist that has the DPS inside, this will be the first glimpse of the subject and therefore needs to be striking and capture the attention of the audience, a mid shot would Main Headline- The main headline will be found under the main image because this will anchor the main image and entice the reader in to the purchase. This will be a short phrase, name of artist and quote or key words about the content of the article inside. This also helps to promote the content to a new consumer who may not know the subject as well and loyal customers who Barcode and pricing- the barcode and price will be in the corner of the front cover, this is essential as it needs to be visible to scan and provides the essential information to be able to purchase the product, however isn't part of the information given to ‘inform and educate’ (Katz) the reader and therefore placement needs to not detract attention from the genre and style of the magazine.
  • 4. Rough sketches Main Headline- The main headline will be found under the main image because this will introduce the subject of the main image and will anchor the interview and image together, creating pleasing unity. Main image- the main image is placed to one side of the page, conventionally the left, as it gains the most attention that it can as it is the first source of information upon turning the page for the reader. Drop capital- will be found in the top corner of where the interview is which will make the page more appealing and clearly mark to the reader where the interview and text begins. Stand first- the stand first will be seen near the headline so they can see the introductory about the story, this will introduce the person of the interview and give a brief overview of the tone of the piece and what will be covered, also if a new artists this will introduce them and promote upcoming achievements of theirs. At the bottom of every page you will be able to see the page number, this creates continuity throughout the product and gives the reader more freedom and structure on how they wish to read the information. There will also be the brand logo this is essential as it promotes the brand and reinforces the reader to recognise the magazine.
  • 5. Final sketches First of all, I would have the masthead at the top left corner of the front cover, this is due to the fact that the masthead needs to be highly visible to the audience that will be looking at it; it being in the top left will be appealing to the audience with bright colors for example, to try and attract them to want and buy the magazine. This is also a common placement which was discovered through researching and analysing similar magazines of this genre. Also, I will have a pull quote so that the customers can see that there is a quote relevant to the article and entice them to purchase the product to read further. Furthermore, I will also have puff promotions and social media links which could lead to more consumers and add to the brand’s technical convergence. Finally, I will have cover lines down the side of the front cover, this is because I don’t want to draw any attention from the main image but want to continue to ‘inform and educate’ (Katz) the reader on all aspects of this music genre and therefore need to provide information to capture their attention to read on.
  • 6. House style and Colour Scheme Color Scheme My colour scheme for the magazine I prefer is monochrome and red. This is due to the fact after looking at other magazines of the genre of music I discovered many followed this house style especially Q magazine. This seems to be a common choice which indicates my audience already prefer this format therefore adapting that to my magazine will ensure sales. In my opinion this is due to the clean formal approach it gives and the fact it doesn't’t distract form the content within but works with the information to be most informative for the audience. Font Style The font style I am using is Obelix pro for main headings and titles. This is because it goes with my rap theme and for people who don’t already know the magazine, when they first see it this will help them to tell what genre the magazine is, this is due to the fact that the font looks a bit like graffiti but a neater version which could convey to the audience that my genre of my magazine is Rap. This font also looks very unique which is what I wanted on my magazine as the colour scheme/house style are similar to others out there in the market already it needed its own individual unique selling point.
  • 7. Font style for Rap City OldSchool Freshman Sketch 3D 28 days later
  • 8. Gobold Glitter campus outlined Broken Detroit Woodcutter tags Dk bad medicine Font styles
  • 9. Masthead Ideas Masth ead $TACKZ RapCity $tackz can connote how much money an individual has this is a rap term used , furthermore in this way it will be illustrating that someone who is in the magazine has lot of money from music. Rapcity connotes the magazine will feature all the best rappers in a specific city e.g somewhere in London. This could continue to Sectioned All of the best artists are sectioned off in to this magazine which will convey that this magazine will contain all the best artists. This subtly conveys to the audience the layout of the magazine from the first glance. Music Madness Music madness could convey that all of the music released in this magazine may be seen to the audience as a madness, which could attract more people to want to read the magazine. All of these names on this slide were ideas that I thought that I could of used for my masthead on my magazine, but I ended up using $tackz
  • 10. Images of influences S For trying to pick ideas for my magazine, I used existing magazines to try develop good ideas to be able to produce my magazine as best as possible. For example ideas that I could have used would be something like the font that another magazine used that could of attracted me to use it.
  • 11. Mood board first magazine
  • 12. Mood board- $tackz I chose two nice cars which a are both Lamborghinis, I chose this because these cars are very expensive and top class which therefore means the person who owns them must have a lot of money so therefore this will convey the artist on the magazine. These valentinos in the picture are very expensive shoes so therefore this will also convey the artist having a lot of money which is the competition in rapping. Both moodboard are very similar because the genre of the magazines are similar. One is HIP-HOP and one is RAP.
  • 13. Interview draft S Hello, how are you? S I'm good thanks mate, you S When your next show? S 14th of December , going to get shutdown bro you should com S London man, my hometown, where I first started music, where I met my pals from music S I got a couple people rolling through, that’s on the low though.gh, whens the album dropping as well can’t wait for that to drop. S That’s a little bit after the tour man, thinks its early January trust it will be sick think I got about 7 to 8 songs coming out on that album, when it drops I will send you a copy for free man.Much appreciated mate, can’t wait for the tour and the album. S Yh neither can I bro, I am struggling to right lyrics at the moment am going through quite a bad time in the music industry that’s why I haven’t been releasing much man. S Why what has happened, catch me up I haven’t spoken with you in ages! S Basically, cut a long story short I done a bad thing went too prison but that’s all in the past I am a changed man now want to carry on writing music. S Yeah man, whilst your in their it is different to how you would think, if you haven’t been in prison then you won’t realize how hard life is in there, but when I was in their yes I did write a couple songs one of which is on YouTube now called jail pain, it is just all about life in there and how very few people visited me and the poor quality of food that I was eating ect, also I am on the process of writing a track which will be part 2 when I went back in prison soon after. S Oh no, I never heard the first jail pain but I will look at it later, someone told me about a prison song coming out with a few people featuring on it. S Yes it will be lit bro trust me on that one, but honestly keep holding tight because my new ep is coming out which 5 new hot tracks are going to be coming out in a couple months. S Yes that is what I like to hear, the old you is coming back and with more progression, when was the last song out then if you been in prison for this whole time? S My last song must off been a good year back and a half ago, on link up TV making money featuring young trapper. The one that was recorded on the top of the building do you remember? S Yes mate, I do remember now that was ages ago, nice speaking to you anyway.
  • 15. Test photography continued S For my test photography I have had to do take some photos to give myself a variety of photos to pick for my front cover. I have taken some photos of myself who I am the artist for my front cover. I have decided to choose this photo because I think it is the best photo of the 4 I have taken. A factor why the test photography can be seen as good as it gives you a chance to see what the photos will look like.
  • 16. Prop list S For my photographs for my issue, I didn’t need any more equipment or any props. This is because I only need a camera and the individual that is going to be In the picture. Therefore this specific person will need a few different outfits in able to have a variety of different photos which will allow me to pick out of a variety of pictures. The camera that was used for my photography was a Nikon D3300 Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm this is due to the fact that I want my photo’s to as professional as possible. I borrowed this camera from school as they have the best quality cameras around. S If I was to have some props in my magazine I would have some musical instruments like a microphone to make it look more professional and more of a music magazine. • 23. Conclusion S To include lo1, I will justify all of my ideas that will help me create and form my magazine, e.g. the staff and equipment needed and how much that will cost. Also it will conclude the rough sketches and final sketches which will be over my hand drawn drafts of my front cover, which in this case is ‘$tackz’. S Overall to conclude my magazine and if I was to make another one in the future one improvement that I would do is to think through what your picture is going to be and the equipment/prop that is going to be in main photo for your front cover, e.g include a rapper with a microphone to make the front cover seem more professional and this will illustrate what your genre is in your magazine.

  • 25. Location Recce I had to create a location recce to identify any potential risks or hazards that could take place in the process of taking pictures and making the magazine.
  • 26. Software risk assessment S When I was creating my magazine front cover and my DPS for my magazines I made sure that all the segments throughout both magazines I made sure it looked as professional. For example when inserting an image, and resizing it I make sure that I hold down the shift key when resizing because if you don’t follow this procedure then the image may become pixilated and loose the images quality due to not holding down the shift key so therefore I make sure I hold it to make my images have the best quality. Another procedure that is essential to follow is when inserting text to a magazine make sure that a ruler tool is used so that the writing doesn’t overlap any images which also furthermore, makes it look unprofessional.. S Lastly, for every magazine that I have created I have used the same colour scheme so therefore when someone from the audience has already previously seen my magazine they should be able to recognize it which may boost the amount of sales that I get because more people may recognize it which may make them want to buy it. S Software risk Assessment can be seen as resizing and image but using the ‘shift key’ which will allow you to be able to make the picture smaller and by pressing the shift key it will keep the picture looking professional due to it still having its high quality, but furthermore if you do not do this will lead to a pixelated picture and it will be warps which makes the photo look unprofessional. This technique is when resizing images whilst still keeping the quality of the photo high and preventing the photo from becoming stretched and distorted. S Eyedropper Tool- To maintain consistency and professionalism throughout my magazine ‘$tackz’, on Photoshop their is a good and efficient tool called the ‘eyedropper tool’ that’s helps to choose the colour of a specific object that will be on the front cover, then you will have the chance to save this colour and be able to use it again which keeps the front cover professional, because you save the colour allowing you to use it again which will furthermore improve your front cover as you will have the same colours which will make it professional. Also when making a new object such as a textbox or a shape I can just click on the previous saved colour so I can use it again which is also quicker and more precise as the colour has been previously saved. This furthermore speeded up colour choosing for me as well as keeping it as professional as possible.
  • 27. Hazards at work place The health and safety act, Often referred to as HASAW or HSW, this Act of Parliament is the main piece of UK health and safety legislation. It has 13 different headings and 10 different schedules which will consist of commissions, regulations and provisions. These duties are about a specific individual that is employed as is currently working, but it is the fact that the individual has to be safe at work and try not to injure themselves and if anything does occur at work, for example the person working does get injured then they will have to write down what has happened and if it is a serious injury then it may have to involve going to the hospital then it may become more serious. It Is essential that at every work place that the surroundings and health by every employee for that specific business gets controlled regularly and if there is any problems then the manager will need to be informed as soon a possible. http://www.hse.gov.uk/legislation/hswa.htm I created a consent form to make sure the Person that was involved in the pictures of my magazine was aware of the risks and hazards that could be involved and how we will overcome
  • 28. Ethical and legal issues S The independent press standards organizations (IPSO) who are an independent regulator who set out rules and regulations that media companies are in competition with. We hold newspapers and magazines to account for their actions, protect individual rights, uphold high standards of journalism and help to maintain freedom of expression for the press. They hold newspapers and magazines to account for their actions, protect individual rights, uphold high standards of journalism and help to maintain freedom of expression for the press. S The ASA is a non-statutory organization and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances. S Ethical Issue is a essential part of producing a magazine because if there are ethical issues that are found in a magazine when it is published, complaints could be sent to the publisher complaining about a specific ethical issue that may harm the person reading the magazine. https://www.asa.org.uk https://www.ipso.co.uk
  • 29. Ethical and legal issues continued Ip/watermark- content that usually has been used for copyright can be referred as ‘IP’ which furthermore means Intellectual property which means that it belongs to someone else but you are using it for the meanwhile for progress in your work, which this is also protected by the law and government. IP allows owners and trade markers to be benefitted from their own work and investment. This is furthermore essential because for my magazine I have not used copyright as all the work is mine and is protected due to the fact that it has all be wrote by myself. Royalties- A royalty is a payment to an owner for the use of property, especially patents, copyrighted works, franchises or natural resources. The NLA newspaper licensing company which sell licenses to newspaper and now they have started selling magazine contents. If an individual has created some information that they are using for some work, and another person wants to use this information then the will have to pay the creator to use this information, which furthermore is what I have done in my magazine because it contains information that will include original content which will need to be protected. Ethical issues- With my magazine if anyone finds that there is a problem in the magazine then they will have to contact myself to choose whether the alternatives are right with will be ethical or wrong which is unethical. When releasing my magazine I must make sure that I don’t advertise something that is false because this could lead to complaints coming in from the audience of your magazine . For example pricing your magazine wrong by saying on the magazine that it is £2.99 when really it is getting sold in Tesco for £3.50 which is unethical because you are lying to the audience about how much you are really selling your magazine at.
  • 30. Safe working practices S As I have already said in my PowerPoint before a quick an accessible way to remove a background of a photograph or image on Photoshop, the way to do this quick is to go to where the tool bar on the left side of the screen on Photoshop go down to the ‘magic wand’ and scroll over it and it should come up with quick selection tool and magic wand toll but the one to use is the quick selection tool which then you need to click everywhere that you want to remove, the best way to do this is slowly as if you go to quick then this could lead you to removing to much. But furthermore, go slowly and once you have clicked everything that you want to remove click enter and the background should go. On the left is an example of when I have used the quick selection tool to remove a background of on of my images
