Tea – An evergreen Asian shrub or small tree, having a compact head of leathery, toothed leaves and
white or pink flowers.
Green Tea – is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation
during processing. Green tea originates in China, but it has become associated with many cultures
throughout Asia. Green tea has recently become more widespread in the West, where black tea has
been the traditionally consumed tea. Green tea has become the raw material for extracts which are
used in various beverages, health foods, dietary supplements, and cosmetic items. Many varieties of
green tea have been created in the countries where it is grown. These varieties can differ
substantially due to variable growing conditions, horticulture, production processing, and harvesting
time; The leaves withered and rolled but not allowed to undergo fermentation.
Camellia Sinensis – is the species of plant whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce the
popular beverage tea.
Oxidation during processing – Tea processing is the method in which the leaves from the tea plant
Camellia sinensis are transformed into the dried leaves for brewingtea.
Vitamin C –also known as L–ascorbic acid, is a water–soluble vitamin that is naturally present in
some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Humans, unlike most animals,
are unable to synthesize vitamin C endogenously, so it is an essential dietary component

For supermarket and restaurant chains, the sale typically is made to the purchasing
department/buying division of the retailer. These sales often involve a significant amount of field
testing by the direct sales force, giving Tasteless a competitive advantage. Tasteless heavily
advertises its products in trade magazines and attracts individual sales through advertising in media
such as health care magazines. Individual clients include CEOs of Fortune 1000 companies, as well
as individuals from coast–tocoast. Management's objective is to establish Tasteless as the most
recognized and respected tea brand in the U.S. market, eventually supplanting Lipton Tea as the
market leader in tea brand recognition and tea sales in both the higher–end and lower–end tea
markets. While Tasteless currently is experiencing some sharp growing pains, the good news is the
growing interest in different types of non–traditional beverages, combined with increasingly health–
conscious baby boomers and younger adults. These factors have tripled sales over the past five years
ending December 31, 2008. At the same time, new local and regional competitors with a bevy of
new products are offering fast delivery from local production centers and in some cases lower
prices, challenging Tasteless for retail shelf space. Without this shelf space, especially in
supermarkets, Tasteless' tea products cannot be retailed on a volume basis. Tasteless has

The Tea Of A Tea Party
Tea Parties
In its simplest form, a Tea Party is defined as "a social gathering in the afternoon at which tea, cakes
and other light refreshments are served." Dating back into the 1700 's, tea etiquette and its popularity
can be traced back to Charles II and his wife, Catherine of Braganza. Born of Portuguese descent,
Catherine already know of and was fond of tea, as it was a preferred beverage of Portugal
(Afternoon.com). Becoming known as the "tea–drinking Queen" she is regarded as the first of
England 's queens to participate in this tradition. However, Tea Parties made their scene when Queen
Anna began to hold "afternoon tea" while eating light refreshments in her chambers, as well as
inviting her friends to attend her tea time with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With tea party businesses and various tea gardens around the world, the culture and practice of tea
parties will continue to flourish. As previously stated, tea parties didn 't come into full trendy
fashion until the 18th Century. Catherine brought tea to light while Queen Anna brought it into a
trend with her first "afternoon tea". Queen Anna "started drinking tea and eating light refreshments
when she became hungry in the afternoons, or the "sinking feeling" she 'd feel, since it was typical
to eat only breakfast and dinner at that time in Britain" (tevana.com). "Tea was generally consumed
within a lady's closet or bedchamber and was predominately a female–only gathering. The tea itself
and the delicate pieces of porcelain for brewing and drinking it were displayed in the closet, and
"inventories for wealthy households during the 17th and 18th centuries list tea equipage not in
kitchens or dining rooms but in these small private closets or boudoirs" ("A Social History of Tea"
by Jane Pettigrew, out of print). The trend of taking of tea didn 't stop there–various countries
around the world practiced taking of the tea, whether it be for ceremonial reasons, celebrations,
pleasure and leisure, or traditional tea party set up. China drank tea for years before England as a
ritual offering, for ceremonies, and medicine (http://www.china.org). Later, the American elite
picked up the practice as well since tea was imported and thus expensive, before

The Tea Of Tea Ceremony
Chanoyu, in Japanese is commonly known as a tea ceremony in English focuses on self discipline
and refinement of oneself. The tea ceremony symbolizes the ideals of harmony, respect, purity, and
tranquility through preparing for the hosts and drinking tea for the guests. During tea ceremonies,
the hosts creates a "once in a lifetime" ambiance for the guest – something that is within the moment
and is unforgettable. The host prepares the tea using high grade matcha, in hopes to make a
satisfying bowl of tea for the guest. The way of tea is heartwarming and respected amongst the host
and guests. Chado was influenced by Zen Buddhism and has lived on for many generations in the
Japanese culture (Varley & Kamakura, 1989). In the 21st century, ... Show more content on

The use of ceremonial matcha green tea and the spread of Chanoyu came from the Genroku epoch
Tokugawa period. Traditions must be met when performing tea ceremonies because it is a craft –
symbolism and abstractness lies within chanoyu (Garett & Berriault, 2005). Matcha green tea is the
powder used in these tea ceremonies, it must be high grade matcha in order to pass tea ceremonies.
Creating high standards for this tea ceremony ensures the quality that hosts must obtain when
performing this respected tradition. Matcha powder came from the Eisai or Tosai in early Kamakura
period and was transmitted from China but then evolved to chanoyu (tea ceremony) in Japan.
During the postwar era in Japan, non dominant social groups belonged to women (Chan, 2017).
Since roles in tea ceremonies were open to the idea of integrating whoever wanted to participate or
wanted to become a host during the era, the non dominant social groups that belonged to women
joined in. With the integration being in place, this gave women in Japan the opportunity to become
hosts – to stand with samurais, in a patriarchal country. Given this opportunity, the women found
power in tea ceremonies. This sparked the women's empowerment movement in postwar Japan
because they were being looked upon as if they were equal and integrated within the community,
they were no longer looked at as homemakers and housewives that belonged in the household (Kato,
2012). Chanoyu defined women's power

Coffee And Tea Compare And Contrast
comparing tea and coffee
Coffee or tea? That's a question asked on many occasions. At first glance, these drinks seem quite
different, and both coffee and tea enthusiasts will agree that the two beverages are in no way
comparable. However, if you take a closer look you can see quite a lot of similarities between the
two drinks.
In our society, coffee and tea are extremely popular drinks. Tea is the second–most consumed drinks
in the world, surpassed only by water. Coffee too is one of the most well liked beverages, and
popular all over the world. Though, it cannot completely live up to tea in terms of sales. Although
unroasted coffee is one of the worlds most traded agricultural goods, the yearly sales of tea almost
double the sales of coffee.
Comparing their history, both coffee and tea have been around for quite a long time. According to
legends, tea was first discovered in southwestern China 3000 BC during the Chinese Tang dynasty.
It became popular among Chinese and Japanese priests and scholars who drank it during meditation,
but was not introduced to Europe until the 16th century. Soon after tea was made known in Europe,
it became fashionable in Britain and is still considered one of Britain's cultural beverages. Coffee on

Ming Tea Vs False Tea Essay
The aesthetic principle created by the Song tea drinkers and their appreciation of the original flavor
of water continued to the Ming Dynasty. Moreover, since loose tea, which tastes bitterer than both
Tang and Song styles of tea, was adopted by scholar–officials and people from other classes, the
original flavor/the sweet flavor of water was valued even more during the tea drinking in the late–
Ming era. The bitterness of tea was appreciated when other flavors, such as the taste of salty or the
flavors of spices, were removed from the tea due to the popularity of loose tea consumption.
Timothy Brook has mentioned that the scholar–officials were the major practitioners of the Song

The Tea Of Tea Master
When I first entered the tea house, the aroma of many tea leaves struck me in my nose. I was deeply
welcomed by many people. The atmosphere was very lively. The first thing I realized when sitting
down at the tea gathering table was the amount of utensils there were to make a cup of tea and the
traditional clothing Tea Master Michael Fung was wearing. This made me feel like Tea Master
Michael Fung was deeply passionate and interested in the art of tea. As more students came, I
realized that it was very cramped. It reminded me of a quote when Dr. Jack said that it was best to
drink tea with only two people and the more we have the more it feels uncomfortable. During the
beginning of the ceremony, Tea Master Michael Fung, owner of "The Best Tea House Co.", took
many aged Pu 'er tea cakes for us to experiment and observe. Many students and I, saw many
differences such as how it smells and how the colour changes over time. Tea Master Michael Fung
also talked about the history and the origins of tea and why it is drank and how it is developed. He
also mentioned that the waxing paper determines the tea 's quality. Pu 'er tea is an aged dark tea
produced in Yunnan province of China under the process of fermentation and Tea Master Michael
Fung showed us the difference between Sheng and Shu Cha and its health benefits. Since Pu 'er tea
can be stored to mature, I observed that there was a year and the region of production on each

Tea Chromatography
Introduction
In this lab session, physical transformations were used to separate caffeine content from tea and
separate components by chromatography. The caffeine content was determined by extracting it from
the tea solution by adding sodium carbonate and dichloromethane into the tea and then and then
evaporating the solvent, using a hot plate. By weighing the empty beaker and the beaker after the
solvent has been evaporated on a top–loading scale, the mass of caffeine was calculated. In the
second experiment, paper chromatography was used to separate the dyes in colored markers. The
purpose of this experiment is to observe how chromatography can be used to separate mixtures of
chemical substances. Chromatography serves mainly as a tool for ... Show more content on

Discussion
By calculation, the amount of caffeine contained within 100–mL of the tea solution is approximately
26.8 mg. This data may be imprecise due to the possible errors during the extraction of caffeine
from the tea. Errors could have been made during phase separation and how vigorously or gentle the
mixture was shook. Also, errors could have been made during the filtration process and not
separating enough of the tea mixture from the dichloromethane, thus causing the calculation to be

the tea business with its superior quality of tea enabled by continuous investments in upgrading
production and manufacturing facilities. Primarily a seller in the auction market, Goodricke now has
an equal proportion of sales in the bulk and packet tea segments, besides a significant presence in
the export market. India is the largest producer and consumer of tea in the world. Tea plantations in
India are concentrated in the North East (Upper Assam, West Bengal (and the South (Kerala,

at around 625mn kg. and has been growing at an average annual rate of 4% p.a. Production on the
other hand has grown at a CAGR of 3%. The exportable surplus has therefore been declining over
the last few years. Exports in 1998 amounted to 206mn kg. Global tea production is highly
concentrated in a few countries like India, China, Kenya and Sri Lanka Indian tea bushes are very
old and therefore productivity is quite low. This leads to a higher cost of production as compared to
the same in countries like Kenya and Malawi. While India and China have a large domestic market,
other countries mainly produce for exports. International tea prices are therefore largely linked to the

Tea Time History
Tea time is more popular than ever in America today. Tea rooms are springing up everywhere. Fine
hotels are once again promoting their new services and with Americans choosing a healthier life
style, he late afternoon meal is much in style. Todays "tea time" is considerably different than during
the Victorian Era. Many people do not talk face–to face with others anymore, instead using their
phone. Tea time also known as afternoon tea, Victorian tea, high tea, and five–o 'clock tea, may be
one of the most "delightful and informal affairs in the whole social round. In the play "Pygmalion"
by George Bernard Shaw, Shaw mentions how the importance of reputation can determine the tea
time experience. It may also be an unmitigated bore" (Victoriana). The observance of tea time
originated amongst the wealthy class. Tea time was said to be created by "Anna, the Seventh
Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840" (Victoriana). Anna used tea time as a break in the day
between lunch and dinner to quell the inevitable hunger pangs. The menu centered around small
cakes, bread and butter sandwiches, sweets, and, of course, tea. Today people use tea time much like
in 1840. People use it to gather and have a break in the day to connect with family and friends.
However, nowadays there is technology to connect with others. Although tea time is quite popular,
most people gather and socialize today in a much different way. A common meeting place for coffee,
tea and snacks would be Starbucks, unlike in

Extraction Of Caffeine From Tea
EXTRACTION OF CAFFEINE FROM TEA
Abstract
The method used to separate the organic compound from a mixture of compound is the extraction. It
is done by the dissolving of one or more compounds in a good solvent. The solvent which was used
in this experiment was 15 ml of dichloromethane into 125ml of water. Caffeine was extracted from
9.19 g of TAZO Awake English Breakfast. Caffeine is soluble in water in 2.2 g/ml at 20 C; it is more
soluble than dichloromethane which has 10.2g/ml at 20 C, and the method used for the extraction
was the liquid–liquid extraction method, followed by evaporation. The objective of going through
all these steps was to be able to obtain caffeine from tea and to see how pure or how the caffeine
was not pure in comparing the standard values of Melt Point and RF values of the result of the
experiment.

Green Teas are an indispensable part of the local cuisine in many parts of China and in some parts of
Japan. Green Teas are unoxidised with Chinese–style teas such as Bi Luo Chun and Long Jing
characteristically processed with dry heat using a spinning drum similar to an oven along with a
cooking utensil resembling a wok.
Japanese Green Teas such as Sencha and Gyokuro are usually steamed producing flavours with a
subtle hint of citrus. Thus, the different methods of processing give them their uncommon flavours
and taste. Chinese–style Green Teas have a mild flavour with a dash of sweetness filled with the
aroma of vanilla, wood or nuts.
Catechins
Fresh tealeaves overall are rich sources of flavonoids known as catechins effective for protecting the
body against, eliminating free radicals, muscle fatigue, pain caused by burns and preventing brain
related problems such as stroke, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. However, the levels of this
substance depend on the amount of processing which undergoes a change during oxidation. With
higher oxidation, there is a decrease in the catechins. Hence, Green Tea consisting of huge amounts
of catechins is often promoted as a wonder drink far superior than any other tea. Nevertheless the
fact remains that with that with a reduction in catechins there occurs a natural rise in theaflavins and
thearubigins as in Oolong Tea offering anti cancer, anti inflammatory and anti allergy benefits.

Compared to the major local tea brands in Malaysia such as BOH, Sabah Tea, and Cameron Bharat
Plantations, Zealong has a limited range of products. Hence, Zealong may attract buyers through the
quality of its products, its uniqueness, and the satisfaction that it offers through its products (tea).
PROMOTION STRATEGY
In terms of promotion strategy, to promote Zealong to Malaysians, Zealong should do thorough
research on what form of promotion that may catch attention of possible consumers fast and
effective. Perhaps Zealong may go for outdoor advertising. Placing ads on boards placed on
highway roadsides. Malaysians especially those living in the busy cities, Kuala Lumpur, Penang,
and Johor Bahru spend long hours on the road due to traffic jams. Hence, outdoor advertising is
certainly reliable in Malaysia. However, to stand out from others, the ad should be designed with
creativity. BOH has come up with a very creative advertising, placing its ads on sliding doors.

Chinese tea for decades and set up his business in Vancouver's Chinatown to teach others the art of

varieties of black, green, white, oolong, and pu–erh are location, harvesting time, method of
harvesting and processing"(Silver, 2011). These five kinds of tea have different colors and flavors
because of their difference in location and harvesting method. The first kind is black tea, which is
also called red tea in China, is a post–fermented tea that produces dark tea water when steeped. This
tea has various pure qualities, which blends easily with other flavors to create a rich and exquisite
taste. As the second kind, green tea is light and refreshing. It contains the largest amount of caffeine
and vitamins and has a subtle flavor and light color when steeped. The third one is white tea, which
is light and delicately smooth. It has the least processed procedure that only undergoes steaming and
drying, and leaving to its natural state. The forth one is Oolong tea. Oolong Tea has flowery sweet

In the article "Coffee & Tea History in A Cup", Anna Reich had provided some history about Tea.
Tea had many uses, was used as food, medicine and also a beverage. It was to believe that the
Chinese emperor Shen Nung was the one who actually discovered tea. The legend states that he
rested under a tea tree, and as the leaves feel, it fell into his hot cup of water (Reich, 2010). As a
result, tea is a very simple beverage. By simply adding some tea leaves into hot water, we have a
warm and relaxing drink. Compared to coffee, tea has more of a variety selection. Tea is a very
simple beverage to make because it doesn 't require much ingredients. Many beverages have
caffeine in it to keep us awake or provide more energy so we can finish our tasks. in the article

effects that caffeine has. Studies showed that if someone drinks too much tea, hypokalemia can be
developed. Which is a potassium deficiency, resulting in muscle pain or some difficulties doing

problems. Caffeine also has an effect on our immune system. It weakens it and causes those who

Tea Plantation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh produces and exports a large quantity of high quality tea. Most of the tea plantations are
situated in the northeastern areas of the country, around Sylhet and Srimongal. Sylhet is situated
close to Bangladesh's border with the Indian states of Meghalaya and Assam. This part of the
country is covered by hillocks rising to moderate heights. The rainfall is higher than average, a fact
which British tea planters realised in the 18th century to the advantage of tea cultivation. These
conditions have provided rich tropical forests with many species of wildlife, scented orange groves
and pineapple plantations. It is also the home of Khashia and Monipuri tribals.
The waterfalls of Madhab Kunda are another very picturesque place to visit. Jafflong, where the
river runs along the border between Bangladesh and India is especially beautiful. On the way there
are number of 'haors' or marshy wetlands, which are natural, depressed swamps holding water
almost the whole year round. They are home to many fish and thousands of local and migratory
birds.

The Book Of Tea Critical Analysis
Book of Tea by Okakura Kakuzo lends incredible insights into the importance of acceptance of
cultures and self examination. The West, and Americans specifically, need to learn how to appreciate
and learn about cultures, without stealing the credit by claiming ownership. The Book of Tea is an
exploration of this concept with specific focus on the concept of tea in Western culture. If Western
society were to truly step back and examine what they hold dear, how much of it could it attribute to
the cultures it has isolated and excluded. He also teaches the reader the importance of the simplicity
by a society being washed away by the advancement of technological innovation. Society should

It is the only Asiatic ceremonial which commands universal esteem. The white man has scoffed at
our religion and our morals, but has accepted the brown beverage without hesitation." It is bizarre
that a drink as simple as tea can have such a profound effect on multiple cultures of the world. As
the only apparently esteemed tradition of the East, naturally, Western society has claimed tea and
incorporated it into its world without accepting its originating culture. Although, oddly enough, it
does offer a glimpse of hope. Humans can relate to cultures they cannot understand through
something as simple as tea. This does not excuse the ignorance that the Western world possesses, but
proves that it can relate to a people without accepting them, opening the dialogue of change.
Kakuzo, throughout the book, salutes tea for its innate ability to bring people together. He describes
this phenomenon as "the mystery of mutual charity," saying that tea "inculcates purity and harmony
[...] the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender
attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life." Tea is both a
unifier and a snapshot of the extraordinary. It binds humans together with a trait they all share–
imperfection. Humans understand that perfection is unattainable and, most of the time, this fear
drives most actions. This pushes humans together more than anything

He claims that drinking tea occasionally led to a less buildup of calcium that can inhibit the arteries'
function to transport blood to the heart. For this reason, this condition could cause heart disease,
high blood pressure, or stroke. Thus, drinking tea is associated with a "36 per cent lower risk of
heart disease compared to those who drank less than a single cup of tea per day" (Smith, 2016).
Adversely, coffee is good for the digestive system in the body. Dr. Stephen Gruber, director of the
USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer center and senior author of the study indicated that there was a
decreased risk that was seen across all types of coffee, both caffeinated and decaffeinated (Lambert,

Another benefit of drinking tea is that it helps reduce weight. Many scientists and doctors motivate

Informative Essay On Black Tea
Over the years, coffee has been termed to be harmful to health, and more people have turned to tea.
Globally, tea is the second most commonly consumed beverage after water, with black tea
constituting 75 percent. All tea originates from the herb Camellia sinensis. Despite a lot of criticism
surrounding caffeinated drinks, when it comes to black tea, it might be a healthy choice as some
studies have shown.
Black tea is made through withering, rolling and fully oxidizing the leaves. Before the final heating
process, black tea leaves are fermented. It contains caffeine, polyphenols, amino acids, fluoride,
carbohydrates, manganese, proteins, potassium, xanthine, guanine, and trace minerals. It also
contains tannins that give it astringency and catechins which are powerful antioxidants that destroy
cancer–causing cells and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
There are various health benefits that are associated with taking black tea regularly due to the
presence of multiple polyphenols and antioxidants. Black tea contains explicitly complex flavonoids
polyphenols that assist in preventing diseases. Theaflavin and thearubigin are among the flavonoid
that acts as strong antioxidants. Thearubigin gives black tea its red color. Studies have shown that
thearubigins benefit the mind and body in various ways. To harness the power of black tea,
researchers advise that, milk or sugar should not be added.

India, for example, was a major tea producer and consumer, but the small scale of many of the farms
and the nature of local farming practices made certification a significant challenge. What should
Unilever do in such markets? Should Unilever hold fast to Rainforest Alliance certification or
instead work to implement incremental change through standards better suited for Indian practices?
How could they persuade hundreds of thousands of smallholders to adopt new farming methods in
market s where most tea production and consumption was local and Unilever was far from the
dominant buyer?
op yo The second issue was whether and how Unilever could gain market advantage from its move

Tea Drinking In The 1800s
Tea was declared the National Drink of England in 1784. The eighteenth century saw the
transformation of tea as an everyday necessity for the poor and working class of the British society.
To meet the domestic demand at home, the British East India Company imported great volumes of
tea from China. The tea import increased from an estimated 64 tons in 1711 to 6800 tons in 1791.
Even heavy import tax could not deter an increasingly expanding domestic market for the Chinese
tea. As tea drinking had become obsession with the British society, consumption of tea replaced
home–brewed beer, gin, milk and traditional infusions of indigenous plants. This great
transformation in the consumption pattern of British society led to the commodification of

The Tea Act Of 1773: The Role Of Tea In Great Britain
It is not until looking back on an action, a person knows how significant the action was. This was
the case with how tea was introduced to Great Britain. In 2017, people still associate Great Britain
with tea. Although the introduction of tea in Great Britain might have seemed like an insignificant
event, it had a greater impact than anyone could have predicted. Once tea was introduced in
England, it had both a national and global impact in England through shaping its culture and
economic power.
Tea became popular for British royalty because of Catherine of Braganza. Catherine was a devout
tea drinker and married Charles II. With that marriage came a dowry that included a chest of tea.
This was popular with upper class England because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To protest this policy, on December 16, 1773, a group of protestors disguised themselves as natives
who helped to unload tea. Once the protestors successfully made it aboard ship, they tipped all 342

Due to these protests, the company faced hard times due to the loss of their import. It was not until
Britain slashed their import taxes that lead to East India Company to become successful once again,
but it eventually lost the monopoly on Asian trade with exception to China. Eventually the company
learned they could trade opium with silver to lower the imbalance. In a convoluted plot, the East
Indian Company would trade silver and opium in order to get tea. Eventually this, scheme was too
much for China.

Not For All The Tea
"Not for all the tea in China" is a popular phrase in the Victorian era. When Britain prevailed tea, the
most of the tea was from China. Thus, if I give all the Chinese tea to you and you do not want it, this
can tell how determined you are. American writer Sarah Rose wrote a book named "For All the Tea
in China" describes a period of time in the mid–1800s how the British Empire stole tea from China.
The main character Robert Fortune was hired by the East India Company to steal the secrets of tea
horticulture and manufacturing. The Scotsman donned a camouflage and headed into the Wu Si
Shan hills in a bold act of corporate espionage.
In the early 19th Century, Britain 's dependence on Chinese tea was caused trade deficit. Britain and
China are conflicting the viewpoint of justice trade in the foreign nationals. Thus, before the war
start,England provided China with opium, grown in India. so then East India Company ship opium
to China; China provided England with the tea. The East India Company though if they know–how
to plant the tea, they could produce tea in India instead. The problem was that the best tea all came
from China, and the Chinese tea growers were the only ones who truly knew how to make it good.
Thus, to accomplish this task, Scottish botanist Fortune (Robert Fortune) put on Chinese clothing ,
hired a Chinese coolie attendant, went deep into the Chinese interior, to the best green tea– and
black tea–growing areas of the country, and stole tea plants,

Coffee, Tea, And Tea
The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca–
Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However,
focusing on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those
three drinks impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them.
In order to produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This
caused a culture shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together,
but one was considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers,
whose conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the
colossal empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped
to create the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum
catapulted the world into major cultural shifts.
During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain
became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink
was disease–ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks. Rum had
more alcohol content than beer, and had more flavor than water, so it pleased the masses greatly.

Tasteless Tea Company ISSUES IN ACCOUNTING EDUCATION Vol. 26, No. 1 2011 pp. 163–179 American Accounting Association DOI: 10.2308/iace.2011.26.1.163 Tasteless Tea Company: A Comprehensive Revenue Transaction Cycle Case Study Ronald F. Premuroso, William S. Hopwood, and Somnath Bhattacharya ABSTRACT: It is challenging for students taking the introductory accounting information systems AIS course to envision how to apply the topics and concepts learned during the course in real–world situations. The motivation for this case study is to have groups of students apply the many topics and concepts learned in the first AIS course to a hypothetical real–world company situation, with particular emphasis on developing a proposed new and improved system for the ... These sales often involve a significant amount of field testing by the direct sales force, giving Tasteless a competitive advantage. Tasteless heavily advertises its products in trade magazines and attracts individual sales through advertising in media such as health care magazines. Individual clients include CEOs of Fortune 1000 companies, as well as individuals from coast–tocoast. Management's objective is to establish Tasteless as the most recognized and respected tea brand in the U.S. market, eventually supplanting Lipton Tea as the market leader in tea brand recognition and tea sales in both the higher–end and lower–end tea markets. While Tasteless currently is experiencing some sharp growing pains, the good news is the growing interest in different types of non–traditional beverages, combined with increasingly health– conscious baby boomers and younger adults. These factors have tripled sales over the past five years ending December 31, 2008. At the same time, new local and regional competitors with a bevy of new products are offering fast delivery from local production centers and in some cases lower prices, challenging Tasteless for retail shelf space. Without this shelf space, especially in supermarkets, Tasteless' tea products cannot be retailed on a volume basis. Tasteless has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Tea Of A Tea Party Tea Parties In its simplest form, a Tea Party is defined as "a social gathering in the afternoon at which tea, cakes and other light refreshments are served." Dating back into the 1700 's, tea etiquette and its popularity can be traced back to Charles II and his wife, Catherine of Braganza. Born of Portuguese descent, Catherine already know of and was fond of tea, as it was a preferred beverage of Portugal (Afternoon.com). Becoming known as the "tea–drinking Queen" she is regarded as the first of England 's queens to participate in this tradition. Queen Anna "started drinking tea and eating light refreshments when she became hungry in the afternoons, or the "sinking feeling" she 'd feel, since it was typical to eat only breakfast and dinner at that time in Britain" (tevana.com). "Tea was generally consumed within a lady's closet or bedchamber and was predominately a female–only gathering. The tea itself and the delicate pieces of porcelain for brewing and drinking it were displayed in the closet, and "inventories for wealthy households during the 17th and 18th centuries list tea equipage not in kitchens or dining rooms but in these small private closets or boudoirs" ("A Social History of Tea" by Jane Pettigrew, out of print). The trend of taking of tea didn 't stop there–various countries around the world practiced taking of the tea, whether it be for ceremonial reasons, celebrations, pleasure and leisure, or traditional tea party set up. China drank tea for years before England as a ritual offering, for ceremonies, and medicine (http://www.china.org). The tea ceremony symbolizes the ideals of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility through preparing for the hosts and drinking tea for the guests. During tea ceremonies, the hosts creates a "once in a lifetime" ambiance for the guest – something that is within the moment and is unforgettable. The host prepares the tea using high grade matcha, in hopes to make a satisfying bowl of tea for the guest. The way of tea is heartwarming and respected amongst the host and guests. Traditions must be met when performing tea ceremonies because it is a craft – symbolism and abstractness lies within chanoyu (Garett & Berriault, 2005). Matcha green tea is the powder used in these tea ceremonies, it must be high grade matcha in order to pass tea ceremonies. Creating high standards for this tea ceremony ensures the quality that hosts must obtain when performing this respected tradition. Matcha powder came from the Eisai or Tosai in early Kamakura period and was transmitted from China but then evolved to chanoyu (tea ceremony) in Japan. During the postwar era in Japan, non dominant social groups belonged to women (Chan, 2017). With the integration being in place, this gave women in Japan the opportunity to become hosts – to stand with samurais, in a patriarchal country. Given this opportunity, the women found power in tea ceremonies. This sparked the women's empowerment movement in postwar Japan because they were being looked upon as if they were equal and integrated within the community, they were no longer looked at as homemakers and housewives that belonged in the household (Kato, 2012). Moreover, since loose tea, which tastes bitterer than both Tang and Song styles of tea, was adopted by scholar–officials and people from other classes, the original flavor/the sweet flavor of water was valued even more during the tea drinking in the late– Ming era. The bitterness of tea was appreciated when other flavors, such as the taste of salty or the flavors of spices, were removed from the tea due to the popularity of loose tea consumption. The first thing I realized when sitting down at the tea gathering table was the amount of utensils there were to make a cup of tea and the traditional clothing Tea Master Michael Fung was wearing. This made me feel like Tea Master Michael Fung was deeply passionate and interested in the art of tea. As more students came, I realized that it was very cramped. It reminded me of a quote when Dr. Jack said that it was best to drink tea with only two people and the more we have the more it feels uncomfortable. During the beginning of the ceremony, Tea Master Michael Fung, owner of "The Best Tea House Co.", took many aged Pu 'er tea cakes for us to experiment and observe. Many students and I, saw many differences such as how it smells and how the colour changes over time. Tea Master Michael Fung also talked about the history and the origins of tea and why it is drank and how it is developed. He also mentioned that the waxing paper determines the tea 's quality. Pu 'er tea is an aged dark tea produced in Yunnan province of China under the process of fermentation and Tea Master Michael Fung showed us the difference between Sheng and Shu Cha and its health benefits. By weighing the empty beaker and the beaker after the solvent has been evaporated on a top–loading scale, the mass of caffeine was calculated. • 50. Tea Time History Tea time is more popular than ever in America today. Tea rooms are springing up everywhere. Fine hotels are once again promoting their new services and with Americans choosing a healthier life style, he late afternoon meal is much in style. Todays "tea time" is considerably different than during the Victorian Era. Many people do not talk face–to face with others anymore, instead using their phone. Tea time also known as afternoon tea, Victorian tea, high tea, and five–o 'clock tea, may be one of the most "delightful and informal affairs in the whole social round. In the play "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw, Shaw mentions how the importance of reputation can determine the tea time experience. It may also be an unmitigated bore" (Victoriana). The observance of tea time originated amongst the wealthy class. Tea time was said to be created by "Anna, the Seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840" (Victoriana). Anna used tea time as a break in the day between lunch and dinner to quell the inevitable hunger pangs. The menu centered around small cakes, bread and butter sandwiches, sweets, and, of course, tea. Today people use tea time much like in 1840. People use it to gather and have a break in the day to connect with family and friends. However, nowadays there is technology to connect with others. Although tea time is quite popular, most people gather and socialize today in a much different way. A common meeting place for coffee, tea and snacks would be Starbucks, unlike in ... The legend states that he rested under a tea tree, and as the leaves feel, it fell into his hot cup of water (Reich, 2010). As a result, tea is a very simple beverage. By simply adding some tea leaves into hot water, we have a warm and relaxing drink. Compared to coffee, tea has more of a variety selection. Tea is a very simple beverage to make because it doesn 't require much ingredients. Many beverages have caffeine in it to keep us awake or provide more energy so we can finish our tasks. in the article "Some Health Effects From Caffeine," Beatrice Trum Hunter goes into details about some health effects that caffeine has. Studies showed that if someone drinks too much tea, hypokalemia can be developed. Which is a potassium deficiency, resulting in muscle pain or some difficulties doing activities. As for coffee, a high consumption of coffee can cause a person to have behavioral problems. Caffeine also has an effect on our immune system. It weakens it and causes those who consumes it to have a higher risk of getting a heart attack compared to those who rarely consume caffeine (Hunter, 1999). AS as result, consuming too much caffeine is never good for you. Many people don't know about the risk factors of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The West, and Americans specifically, need to learn how to appreciate and learn about cultures, without stealing the credit by claiming ownership. The Book of Tea is an exploration of this concept with specific focus on the concept of tea in Western culture. If Western society were to truly step back and examine what they hold dear, how much of it could it attribute to the cultures it has isolated and excluded. He also teaches the reader the importance of the simplicity by a society being washed away by the advancement of technological innovation. The white man has scoffed at our religion and our morals, but has accepted the brown beverage without hesitation." It is bizarre that a drink as simple as tea can have such a profound effect on multiple cultures of the world. As the only apparently esteemed tradition of the East, naturally, Western society has claimed tea and incorporated it into its world without accepting its originating culture. Although, oddly enough, it does offer a glimpse of hope. Humans can relate to cultures they cannot understand through something as simple as tea. This does not excuse the ignorance that the Western world possesses, but proves that it can relate to a people without accepting them, opening the dialogue of change. Kakuzo, throughout the book, salutes tea for its innate ability to bring people together. He describes this phenomenon as "the mystery of mutual charity," saying that tea "inculcates purity and harmony [...] the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life." Tea is both a unifier and a snapshot of the extraordinary. It binds humans together with a trait they all share– imperfection. Humans understand that perfection is unattainable and, most of the time, this fear drives most actions. This pushes humans together more than anything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this reason, this condition could cause heart disease, high blood pressure, or stroke. Thus, drinking tea is associated with a "36 per cent lower risk of heart disease compared to those who drank less than a single cup of tea per day" (Smith, 2016). Adversely, coffee is good for the digestive system in the body. Dr. Stephen Gruber, director of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer center and senior author of the study indicated that there was a decreased risk that was seen across all types of coffee, both caffeinated and decaffeinated (Lambert, 2017). Dr. Gruber also reported that "coffee consumption decreases the risk of colorectal cancer" (Lambert, 2017). Another benefit of drinking tea is that it helps reduce weight. Many scientists and doctors motivate obese people to acknowledge drinking tea for weight loss. Euan MacLennan, a medical herbalist with a central London NHS General Practice, conducted a study where 35 obese men and women drank tea for two months. Globally, tea is the second most commonly consumed beverage after water, with black tea constituting 75 percent. All tea originates from the herb Camellia sinensis. Despite a lot of criticism surrounding caffeinated drinks, when it comes to black tea, it might be a healthy choice as some studies have shown. Black tea is made through withering, rolling and fully oxidizing the leaves. Before the final heating process, black tea leaves are fermented. It contains caffeine, polyphenols, amino acids, fluoride, carbohydrates, manganese, proteins, potassium, xanthine, guanine, and trace minerals. It also contains tannins that give it astringency and catechins which are powerful antioxidants that destroy cancer–causing cells and prevent cardiovascular diseases. There are various health benefits that are associated with taking black tea regularly due to the presence of multiple polyphenols and antioxidants. Black tea contains explicitly complex flavonoids polyphenols that assist in preventing diseases. Theaflavin and thearubigin are among the flavonoid that acts as strong antioxidants. Thearubigin gives black tea its red color. Studies have shown that thearubigins benefit the mind and body in various ways. The eighteenth century saw the transformation of tea as an everyday necessity for the poor and working class of the British society. To meet the domestic demand at home, the British East India Company imported great volumes of tea from China. The tea import increased from an estimated 64 tons in 1711 to 6800 tons in 1791. Even heavy import tax could not deter an increasingly expanding domestic market for the Chinese tea. As tea drinking had become obsession with the British society, consumption of tea replaced home–brewed beer, gin, milk and traditional infusions of indigenous plants. This was the case with how tea was introduced to Great Britain. In 2017, people still associate Great Britain with tea. Although the introduction of tea in Great Britain might have seemed like an insignificant event, it had a greater impact than anyone could have predicted. Once tea was introduced in England, it had both a national and global impact in England through shaping its culture and economic power. Due to these protests, the company faced hard times due to the loss of their import. It was not until Britain slashed their import taxes that lead to East India Company to become successful once again, but it eventually lost the monopoly on Asian trade with exception to China. Eventually the company learned they could trade opium with silver to lower the imbalance. In a convoluted plot, the East Indian Company would trade silver and opium in order to get tea. Thus, if I give all the Chinese tea to you and you do not want it, this can tell how determined you are. American writer Sarah Rose wrote a book named "For All the Tea in China" describes a period of time in the mid–1800s how the British Empire stole tea from China. The main character Robert Fortune was hired by the East India Company to steal the secrets of tea horticulture and manufacturing. The Scotsman donned a camouflage and headed into the Wu Si Shan hills in a bold act of corporate espionage. In the early 19th Century, Britain 's dependence on Chinese tea was caused trade deficit. Britain and China are conflicting the viewpoint of justice trade in the foreign nationals. Thus, before the war start,England provided China with opium, grown in India. so then East India Company ship opium to China; China provided England with the tea. The East India Company though if they know–how to plant the tea, they could produce tea in India instead. The problem was that the best tea all came from China, and the Chinese tea growers were the only ones who truly knew how to make it good. Thus, to accomplish this task, Scottish botanist Fortune (Robert Fortune) put on Chinese clothing , hired a Chinese coolie attendant, went deep into the Chinese interior, to the best green tea– and black tea–growing areas of the country, and stole tea plants, ... Coffee, Tea, And Tea The history of the world can be viewed through six drinks, beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and Coca– Cola, as told in the book A History of the World in Six Glasses by Tom Standage. However, focusing on three drinks in particular, rum, coffee, and tea, an enormous story can be told. Those three drinks impacted the world in many ways, especially the cultures that consumed or traded them. In order to produce Rum, many Africans were brought to the Americas to work in servitude. This caused a culture shift, because now you had two very different cultures working closely together, but one was considered superior to the other. Coffee sparked the emergence of enlightened thinkers, whose conversations and writings profoundly shaped European culture. Tea helped Britain retain the colossal empire they are often credited with. This is because of a secondary effect of tea as it helped to create the British Empire, which in turn impacted the world colossally. Coffee, tea, and rum catapulted the world into major cultural shifts. During the 17th and 18th centuries when rum was introduced the culture in the Americas and Britain became one of unenlightened and drunken people. Before rum, all that most Europeans had to drink was disease–ridden water and beer. Rum was a happy medium between the two drinks. Rum had more alcohol content than beer, and had more flavor than water, so it pleased the masses greatly. However, since Rum did have a higher alcohol content, it left the population in a ...
