Importance of green accounting
Importance of green accounting

The article provides the results of the environmental adjustment of the traditional macroeconomic indicators for Ukraine taking into account depletion of natural capital, environmental degradation due to atmospheric pollution and governmental expenditures on environmental protection. For the first time the calculation of “Green GDP” and environmentally adjusted net domestic product (NDP) for Ukraine has been elaborated for the period 2001-2010. Depletion of natural capital has been estimated based on the official data on the net operational income and specific taxes of the extraction industry of Ukraine and applying the Hartwick's rule on the reinvestment of the resource rent. Environmental degradation due to atmospheric pollution has been estimated based on the results of the research on the economic cost of pollution from thermal power stations in Ukraine. The general conclusion is that the economic growth of Ukraine is significantly dependent on natural capital and has substantial environmental drawbacks.

Environmental Changes are a global problem which requires a global solution. It has potential to slow our economic growth. The Green Accounting term was first introduced into common usage by economist and Professor Peter Wood in the 1980s.The green accounting provides information about the use, impact, status, and value of natural resources in a country. The Green accounting system is considered one of the important management systems to enable improvement of economic and environmental performance of a business firm. In this article, I am trying to explain its meaning, objectives and importance of Green Accounting System. Prof. Piyush. M. Modi "Objectives and Importance of Green Accounting System in India" Published in International Journal of Trend in Scientific Research and Development (ijtsrd), ISSN: 2456-6470, Volume-3 | Issue-6 , October 2019, URL: https://www.ijtsrd.com/papers/ijtsrd29201.pdf Paper URL: https://www.ijtsrd.com/management/accounting-and-finance/29201/objectives-and-importance-of-green-accounting-system-in-india/prof-piyush-m-modi

Green accounting is a type of accounting that attempts to factor environmental costs into the financial results of operations. It has been argued that gross domestic product ignores the environment and therefore policymakers need a revised model that incorporates green accounting.

A LEDS is a country-led and country-specific national strategic analysis and planning process covering all economic sectors for promoting economic growth while reducing long-term GHG emission trajectories. At a practical level, a LEDS is the strategic framework, based on sound analytical foundations, that articulates concrete actions, policies, programs, and implementation plans to promote economic growth over the long term in a way that lowers a country's GHG emissions from what they would be if the country carried on with business as usual. LEDS are voluntary and non-binding. Because each country has unique national circumstances and priorities, each country develops and drives its own LEDS strategy

Green accounting is one of the crucial areas in today’s corporate social responsibility. Companies are incorporating the concept of environmental element in their business operations. Green accounting will help the organizations to identify the resource utilization and the incurred cost. This method records cost and benefits rendered by the ecosystem to a business concern. The present research paper concentrates on understanding the concept of green accounting.50 companies were selected for the study from Delhi, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon. Fifteen aspects related to green accounting were considered in scale for data collection. The results disclosed that there is significant difference between manufacturing and non- manufacturing companies in terms of green accounting practices.

'Research on climate change' Stopping climate change has turned out to be an immense challenge. Although denial of the problem seems to weaken somewhat, a serious hurdle to a solution is that many scientists and politicians are insufficiently focused on ultimate effectiveness of policies. We quantify the magnitude of the decarbonization challenge and discuss general solution strategies and policy instruments. We then look into the carbon emissions involved in a renewable energy transition, assess the effects of recessions on carbon emissions and discuss the trade-offs between economic growth and reducing carbon emissions. We zoom in on carbon pricing, listing classic and heterodox arguments in favor of it, dealing with effectiveness, efficiency, equity, national and international feasibility, and systemic effects. Complementary instruments and the reasons for their use are mentioned as well. On the basis of this, implications for the policy trajectory after the Paris international climate agreement are formulated.

India is considered as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Agriculture is the mother of any economy, whether it is rich or poor. Much of its influence is on the other sectors of economy - industry and service. India is the second largest in farm output. Hence, India’s economic security continues to be predicated upon the agriculture sector, and the situation is not likely to change in the near future. Even today, the share of agriculture in employment is about 49% of the population, as against around 75% at the time of independence. In the same period, the contribution of agriculture and allied sector to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has fallen from 61% to 17% in 2015-16. Around 51% of India’s geographical area is already under cultivation as compared to 11% of the world average. China with lesser cultivable land produces double the food grains, i.e. 607 million tons in 2015 -16 as compared with India’s 252 million tons in 2015-16. The present cropping intensity of 136% has registered an increase of only 25% since independence. Further, rain fed dry lands constitute 65% of the total net sown area. There is also an unprecedented degradation of land (107 million ha) and groundwater resource, and also fall in the rate of growth of total factor productivity. This deceleration needs to be arrested and agricultural productivity has to be doubled to meet growing demands of the population by 2050. Natural resource base of agriculture, which provides for sustainable production, is shrinking and degrading, and is adversely affecting production capacity of the ecosystem. However, demand for agriculture is rising rapidly with increase in population and per capita income and growing demand from industry sector. There is, thus, an urgent need to identify severity of problem confronting agriculture sector to restore its vitality and put it back on higher growth trajectory. The problems, however, are surmountable, particularly when new tools of science and technology have started offering tremendous opportunities for application in agriculture. However, the country recorded impressive achievements in agriculture during three decades since the onset of green revolution in late sixties. This enabled the country to overcome widespread hunger and starvation; achieve self-sufficiency in food; reduce poverty and bring economic transformation in millions of rural families. The situation, however, started turning adverse for the sector around mid-nineties, with slowdown in growth rate of output, which then resulted in stagnation or even decline in farmers’ income leading to agrarian distress, which is spreading and turning more and more serious. This Paper attempts to focus attention on Issues, Challenges and Government policies of Indian Agriculture in the context of Globalization.

Controlled Environment Agriculture is an umbrella term used for many varieties of indoor plant cultivation. This can include something as simple as a DIY greenhouse or as complex as NASA’s Biomass Production System. Most generally, however, CEA can be defined as a method of cultivating plants in an enclosed environment, using technology to ensure optimal growing conditions.

Many Agro-environmental practices, such as reduced fertilizer use or establishment of green set-asides, which are incentivized by policy instruments, may have simultaneous positive effects on multiple environmental goods. These environmental co-benefits increase the social desirability of a given policy instrument. In this paper we focus on water quality and GHG emissions and examine how climate and water quality policy instruments affect both their primary target emission and co-benefit emissions. We trace out especially the relative role of land use versus input use in emissions reduction. To facilitate this comparison, we define the socially optimal policy instruments when environmental co-benefits are either accounted for or omitted. https://crimsonpublishers.com/mcda/fulltext/MCDA.000552.php For more open access journals in Crimson Publishers please click on link: https://crimsonpublishers.com For more articles on International Journal of Agronomy please click on below link: https://crimsonpublishers.com/mcda/

Running head: ENVIRONMENT 1 ENVIRONMENT 10 Environment Danielle Schummer G328/EVR3410 Human Uses of the Environment The US ought to commit itself to the agreement of Paris. Through this, the country will be able to contribute conservation of the environment to the maximum. The country ought to try and commit itself to the agreement of Paris since it brought countries from all over the world into one cause. Therefore, undertaking the ambitions required for dealing with the climate change and adapting the probable impacts and challenges accordingly, experienced by every state and coming up with resolutions to aid the third world countries to withstand difficulties they encounter. Hence, the agreement will chart a new course in the world climate efforts which will assist to safeguard the wellbeing of the health of people. Again, the US should consider committing itself to the agreement since it is made to strengthen the responses of the world to the threats that come as a result of adverse changes of climate through development of favorable or world temperature rise in the century, for the universe to experience a 2 degree Celsius reduction in the areas that are industrialized. The states as a whole ought to develop distinct efforts to assure that countries experience a 2 degree Celsius temperature decrease according to the Paris agreement. The deal is essential in the sense that it will strengthen the ability of nations to combat the results caused by changes in climate as it noticed that it is changing each year. The US committing itself will allow it to oversee developments in the nation as a particular financial flow ought to be witnessed, new technologies developed and capacity of building framework that is enhanced is brought into use which will support the country's actions through promoting them invulnerable and reliable nations, hence meeting their set goals. The Paris deal has given enough transparency to each nation's effort and developed a clear framework for the states to fight the climate change consequences within a set period. We experience global warming resulting from constant pollution of air and elevated industrialization by numerous nations around the globe. As days pass, more industries are built, and no mechanism is established to prevent the polluted air from going into the atmosphere. Resources of water have been affected as a result of global warming, leading to irrigation supplies decline. This occurs because of mountain snowpack loss hence the drop in water amounts for irrigation. Nevertheless, underground water is contaminated by global warming resulting in the death of different species living in the water. Furthermore, at a given period, there will be a low production of power due to disruption of sources of power supply. This will be as a result of shrinking glaciers in the mountain. Recreational points will also be affected as a result of snowpack reduction resulted from constant atmosp ...

ABSTARCT: Agriculture is the sole provider of human food. Most farms machines are driven by fossil fuels, which contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and in turn, accelerate climate change. Such environmental damage can be mitigated by the promotion of renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, biomass, small hydro, and biofuels. These renewable resources have a huge potential for agriculture industry. The concept of sustainable agriculture lies on a delicate balance of maximizing crop productivity and maintaining economic stability, while minimizing the utilization of finite natural resources and detrimental environmental impacts. Sustainable agriculture also depends on replenishing the soil while minimizing the use of non-renewable resources, such as natural gas, which is used in converting atmospheric nitrogen into synthetic fertilizer and mineral ores, e.g phosphate or fossil fuel used in diesel generator for water pumping for irrigation.Hence, there is a need for promoting use of renewable energy systems for sustainable agriculture e.g solar photovoltaic water pumps and electricity, greenhouse technologies, solar dryers for post harvest processing and solar hot water heaters. In remote agricultural lands, the underground submersible solar photovoltaic water pump is economically viable and also an environmentally friendly option as compared with a diesel generator set. This article details the role of renewable energy in farming by connecting all aspects of environment, societal change and ecology
