2. Billboard magazine
• I have mainly been inspired by billboard
magazine, as I like the layout of the magazine
and the simplicity. I would like to have a
finishing product which resembles the
following looks…
3. Why it Inspires Me…
• The first thing I noticed instantly is the fact that every
model looks into the camera directly, giving a
connotation of confidence in the music industry.
• I love the simplicity in the look of the magazine which
doesn’t make it look to busy and untidy
• The rule of thirds works in these magazines and
becomes very affective
• The lighting looks well positioned which can contour
the face
• I also like the header as it has changed over the years
and is now the same, you only have to glance at the
cover to tell it is a billboard magazine as the header is
bold and very obvious.
4. Initial ideas and thoughts
• My magazine is going to be a chart music
genre. However chart music does feature a lot
of pop music and an audience can relate
certain pop stars to chart music. I would use
an iconic celebrity who relates to chart music.
For example Rhianna, Beyoncé or Adele. I am
taking an original image so I can use one of my
friends to model as a similar to Rhianna.
6. I also want the front cover to look fun with a not too
serious pose. If I was to use a serious pose, it may get
mistaken and might look more like a fashion/lifestyle
magazine. To emphasise on the pop/chart theme I will
make the shoot fun and more relaxed which could
feature and appeal to the latest trends e.g. the peace
sign pose and other fun poses. Also I am thinking of
calling the magazine Vibe. I shall get my model to pose
with a peace sign as that seems to be a trend in
celebrity photos and it can resemble the “v” in Vibe.
