2. Does your product look like a music
magazine? And Why?
I felt that my music magazine did look like a music magazine. This is because I
have a stylist person holding a guitar on the front cover. By adding an
instrument is relating to music. I had a mast head and anchors. Some of the
anchors were related to celebrities. I also had a barcode and issue number.
I asked for others opinion;
Me: Does my magazine look like a music magazine?
Rowanna: I would say your music magazine looks like a magazine.
Me: What makes it look like a music magazine?
Rowanna: Definitely the layout, Your mast head is professional being on the left
hand side. Your main image looks like a celebrity like Justin Beiber. By him
holding the guitar makes it relate to music. Also by adding anchors that
relate to singer e.g. Miley Cyrus. The barcode adds to the magazine look.
You also used affects on your font, this creates an impact and that is what
front covers are meant to do.

• Me: Do you think my magazine looks like a music
magazine?
• James: Yes
• Me: Why do you think it does?
• James: I think it does because it looks professional. Your
main image is a good focus point. I grabs your attention
straightway. The mast head it brilliant, “inspire” is a good
name. The font you used is also eye grabbing. The
anchors with there effects is also eye grabbing and
makes the front cover interesting.

4. What conventions have you used?
• I have used an conventional aspect the mast head. It is in the left
hand side on my front cover. This is in a common place because it
is how the magazine are placed on the shelf in the shops. It is
crucial because that is where your audience will establish and
recognise the name of the magazine. I have also added a issue
number. This is keeping the audience updated to how issues their
have been and if it is the current one. Another convention I have
used is the main image, this is what creates a connection with the
audience. This is because the model is looking straight into the
camera which is called the eyeline. This makes it look like he is
looking at the audience which creates the connection. This is very
common in music magazines because it builds a instant connection
with the readers and makes them want to buy it. I have used this
thought out my magazine.
• In my contents page i have used the same theme which are found in
music magazines. The images with text and page numbers. This
makes it easier for the reader to access around the magazine.

5. Does your magazine clearly fix into
the music genre?
• My magazine is a pop magazine. I feel it
fits into this genre clearly. This because
the main image is a young teenage boy.
This would attract teenage/young adult
girls. It has archons of other pop singers
like Miley Cyrus. It also has the top 20
fashions from other singers like Jessie J in
the Front cover/content page. I feel this
represents pop music.

6. How have I used models as music
artists?
• I dressed my model into smart and
fashionable clothes that made him look
professional and like an artists. By him up
against the wall, wearing sun glasses and
holding his guitar gave him the pop singer
look especially with the serious face. This
created a bigger impact.

7. How have I used photography,
editing and mise en scene?
• I was quite lucky, I used the natural sunlight against a
plain brick wall with my Ipad camera. I wanted to take a
mid-shot for my model because I feel a mid-shot creates
a bigger impact. I didn’t need to do any editing because
how the model was position the plain wall allowed room
for the archons and barcode. This worked quite well, I
didn’t have to add anything. I did this with all of my
images. I decided on the different camera shots because
different camera shots make the magazine more
interesting and give it diversity. I did try adding effects
but I felt they didn’t work and stuck with the original
images.

8. How have you used layout design?
• I looked at published magazines and took
inspiration from different magazines. I took
certain aspects from different magazine
layouts and tweak them to how I wanted
mine to look. I needed more inspiration for
my contents page, I found the Q magazine
the biggest inspiration for the content
page.
