2. Process
• This is an experiment of my magazine front cover, which is going to be part of
my main idea. With it being an experiment I haven’t made it very detailed at
is only meant to be an experiment, there fore if it looked to much like my final
production then it wouldn’t really be made to look like an experiment. Too
make this short experiment there is only a few tools of which I used is product
images from Google to get the image that I used for my background image,
the text tool which I used to form the text which is accompying the
background image. I also made use of the idea of overlapping the text title
and part of the background so that it makes it seem like an 3D effect, as
shown by how the sparks are going through the ‘Empire’ title. To do this I
copied the background layer and cut around some of the sparks that are
coming off the shield.
• To create the 3D effect that is shown above the title I copied over a layer of
the background image and used he Polygon lasso tool to go around the sparks
coming of the shield. Once done that I simply pressed enter and the sparks
appeared too overlap on the font title on the top of the front cover, but for
this too happen I also had to make sure that the edited and copied layer had
been placed above the original background and once this had been done I had
successfully, completed making the 3D effect onto my cover.
• To place in the barcode effect on my practice front cover, I went onto Google
images and simply copied over an image of a Barcode and placed in in the
bottom left hand cover of the screen. There was too much of a white area
around the edge of the barcode, so simply I took the eraser tool and removed
some of the white area, once I had done that I simply selected the scale
setting and shrunk down the barcode and placed it in the bottom left hand
corner.
• For the text part in the middle of my practice front cover I simply selected the
text tool and drew a text box and typed the text I wanted to into it, once I had
done that I then selected on the text box and rotated it into a
horizontal/vertical position.
• I also worked on changing the colour of my text in some areas, such as
in the horizontal text in the area the font colour is a mixture of red and
white, made it this way as it helps to symbolise Iron man and Captain
America. The red colour obviously represents iron man and the white
also represents one of the colours of ‘Captain America’.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
From this part of my product experiment there is a few things that I am planning on including in my actual
production and that is the idea off making the title to be a kind of 3D feature effect of which I made in my
experiment, as I believe on a whole it worked well and also it looks good as a feature to include in the film
poster, therefore this I believe would be a good feature that will help my result of my final production.
However, I will have to make it much more detailed and accurate then what I already have, which will
include removing any tiny remaining background area.
The idea of including a 3D like effect will appeal and draw too my target audience ,as my audience is
being planned on aimed really around males, this 3D style effect is definitely something that will strongly
appeal to a male audience, especially if it is something that is as dramatic as this style of 3D effect.
Also I am planning so include a text part in the centre of my front cover, either by using the same idea of it
being on a slant position or the same kind of large text and in either red//white. Or if not both of the
colours then maybe just one of the colours, as it will still help represent towards one of the particular
characters.
This I believe will appeal to my audience as the text is going to be a stand out compared to the
background, this should also be kind of drawing towards too my male target audience as they tend too
like things that stand out on the covers of magazines or things that stand out in general, which is what I
am planning on doing, within my front cover
For this one particular part of text, I am planning on using a white colour, which is the same as what is in
my experiment, this appeals too my audience which is why I am doing this, I may also add in an outer
glow into, this text part, this will also help my product to appeal to its audience more.
