Blomberg, 1993) permitting it to become a 'living example" of a "Christ–confessing community" that "enables students and teachers to unfold the gifts
that they have been given," (Stronk and Blomberg, 1993, p.83).
Unlike academic rigor, the aspects of school culture such as a strong community, student learner attitudes, and character development are far more
challenging to define and measure. For this reason, schools often neglect assessing student affect –"the attitudes, and values that students exhibit and
acquire while in school" (Popham, 2009, p. 85; Popham, 2010). Student affect can play an even greater impact on students' post school lives than the
students' cognitive achievement (Popham, 2009, p. 85). Popham, (2010) argues that "attention to students' current affect is essential to students' future
wellbeing" (p.156). Recent secular and Christian school discussions (Popham, 2010; Drexler, 2007; Marrah, 2009) place a strong emphasis on the need
for assessing the effective enculturation of attitudes, interest and values within the school community. This research offers an opportunity to study and
measure the sense of belonging essential to creating a Christian school community where students can grow intellectually, spiritually and socially.

My Catholic School leadership experience stems from years of being involved in my diocese, first as a student, then as an employee and then as a
mother who raised and educated three children in that diocese. I am a firm supporter of Catholic education as I have experienced the benefits that only

Ever since I was little, I have felt that Catholic education has been the best fit for me. Catholic education is important to me because I am able to
practice my faith and get an individualized education that will help prepare me for college and for real life. At school, praying and worshiping
with my friends has always been natural to me, as we feel more like a family than just classmates. With a faith filled, family based education that
teaches me not only academic lessons, but life lessons, I know I will be adequately prepared to give back, especially give back to the Giver of all life.
Firstly, I feel that I have received a more personalized education, as Catholic schools typically have smaller class sizes than public schools. I am able
to focus on my school work and my spiritual life without most of the extra distractions. By nurturing my academics, I am able to tend and be tended
to by my teachers and my parents, who support me by teaching me not only school lessons, but also valuable life skills and morals.
Another reason why Catholic education is important to me is that since I have always attended Catholic school, it has become like a second family me.

I transferred into an all girls catholic school junior year, and it was and it was the most awful experiences to date. The only good part about attending
the school was that it helped me recognize that I had severe anxiety, other then that there is nothing that I took out of going to school there.

Finally the bell rang and there was no one left in the halls, but me. I found my class only to be 20 minutes late. I walked in wanting to cry with my

Every day, I have the amazing privilege of attending St.Columbanus School. Having been able to receive such a wholesome and enriching education
for the past 5 years has made me eager and expectant for my future. It is my hope that all students are able to receive such an influential education,
one that I feel can only be fully realized in the caring, welcoming, and familial environment that Catholic schools provide. Since Catholic Schools
