1. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research and planning and
evaluation stages?
2. HD Camera
• During the whole media studies A2 course we were
always using the HD camera. This was used to capture
all the filming that we had to have for our music video.
Without the camera there was no video, also as it was
a HD camera and not the normal video camera the
standard of the filming was much better.
• Different effects and different angles was also available
for use as we understood how to use the camera more
and more everyday because we started to get used to
it. We also had to have the HD camera to be able to
load the footage onto the Imac computer.
3. Final cut express
• This piece of software made our music video what it is now, this allowed
us to upload all the footage and was then able to edit it. Editing the music
video was effective because it allowed us to cut out bits we didn’t need,
duplicate parts to fill in gaps and add in transitions to make sure the jump
to the next shot was perfect and accurate.
• Final cut express also allowed us to edit our lip syncing to the song, this
was vital as if we was out of key then the music video would not look
professional and the standard would be poor. It allowed to move parts of
the footage to make sure we was not behind the song or in front of the
song. Layers was also a help because we could add them to make the
music video look more creative and make sure that everything went
perfect.
• There was also the toggle clip overlay, this effect allowed me to adjust
what we wanted to be shown at that specific time, so for instance if we
wanted a shot to fade out and then another shot to fade in we would
adjust the dots that would be put on the line of that specific layer. This
also made the music video look more professional.
4. Photoshop
• For our Digipak and magazine advert, were used Photoshop
to make sure that the pictures we had was perfect and that
if we could add effects such as the contrast or the color we
did using this software.
• Different tools in Photoshop that wasn’t in final cut was
effective because it allowed us to have different ‘cut out
tools’ such as the magnetic lasso tool which made the tool
go around the edge of the picture so the cut was a clean
cut
• We also used Photoshop for the brick wall, that feature in
our music video, our magazine advert and our Digipak. This
was helpful because it was the same picture throughout
the process.
