Question 6
1. Question 6
what have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. How do you use a blog to work
collaboratively?
• The blog helped us to work collaboratively and it helped me to learn lots of organisational
skills I also learnt to develop working in a team to make the blog presented nicely and make
sure that it was well presented
• It also helped me to learn to embed work into a blog this is important in case I need to create
a blog in future as embedding work is a very useful way to link work from other sites into one
location.
• I improved by Prezi skills during the process this is because I got the chance to use it and by
spending time on it I learnt how to navigate it effectively, by doing this I was then able to
improve presentation skills with online work
• I used YouTube to upload videos and this thought me about how to use YouTube and how to
share work onto the site
3. How did your film work?
• I used a tripod, DSLR camera and the track during the process the challenged faced by doing
this was learning how to assemble and disassemble the equipment
• I learnt how to shoot at different angles and use techniques such as pull focus to reveal
things to the audience by not having to change the scene this is useful because it means that
the audience can see 2 things in the same scene it also helps
• I learnt how to shoot at different angles and use techniques such as pull focus to reveal
information to the audience this enabled us to show the knife through the photo’s of one of
the victims which connotes that she is going to be the next victim
4. How did your film work?
• During the whole process of filming we used the 180 degree rule and this enabled us to learn
how this technique worked when you are behind the camera instead of observing media
texts, it also taught us how the rule works In relation to actors and how it helps to make the
narrative easy to follow
• By using the canted angle I learnt how to use the camera without a tripod and make it stable
by resting it on objects and using surrounding resources for effective filming the canted angle
is a very useful angle to learn because it is very conventional of horror and so being able to
learn how to do it is a good skill
5. Editing of piece
• To edit the piece we used premier element software and by using this I learnt different
techniques of editing:
• I learnt how to continuously edit especially by using shots from 2 different shoots because
we had to make it look like it was the same day and by cutting on action we were able to
make it seem believable that it was the same day
• We used a red filter on the psycho’s lair and so I learnt how to apply this to scenes and how
to change things such as saturation to make the filter more effective to the audience and
make it seem more like it was a light in the room rather than a red filter
6. Editing of piece
• Between the scenes with the girl inside and the psycho’s lair we had to intercut and this
meant that I was able to experiment intercutting and how it works, because of this I feel that
I have a much better understanding of how to intercut between scenes
• We used a jump cut with the psycho this helped to speed up the pace of the film especially in
the psycho’s lair because this could possibly be very slow and because of this I learnt how to
jump cut and not miss out important bits of information so that the audience are able to
understand what is happening in the scene still
• We used a transition after our audience screening because we were told this would make it
flow much better and this enabled me to use the transition function on premier and because
of this I learnt editing techniques and how to make a edit flow much better
7. Editing of piece
• The sound was very difficult in the editing process as originally for our rough cut we had a
single sound track but it was clear that this didn’t work so we had to layer the sound heavily
and we used a mix of diegetic and non-diegetic sound to create suspense in the scene. I
learnt the importance of timing with sound and how to make a film more frightening by
simply using sound.
• By doing this because we had so much layered sound it meant that the export didn’t work so
I had to recreate the sound track and put the two together separately on a new timeline. By
doing this I learnt how to tackle issues and to make it simpler for the software so that the
sound works much better
• I was particularly involved In the sound and fixing the sound problem, I had a large role in the
editing and a large role in the filming and positioning of the camera while I was acting as the
psycho in the opening
