1. How effective is the
combination of your
main product and
ancillary texts?
2. When creating all of my products I knew that I
wanted certain features to be similar to or the same
as the features appearing on the other products. I
wanted there to be obvious links with my main
product and my ancillary texts so that my audience
can easily recognise and identify that they are all
referring to my main product without even having to
read the product. It is important that my audience
can identify what film my poster and my review is
referring to because, by having recognisable and
memorable links between each product, my
audience will more likely remember my film and, in
doing so, it will hopefully pursuade them to go and
watch it.
3. Features that link the 3
products together
In my film, poster and film review I have used the
same font for the film title ‘Liberty’. This is extremely
important because the title of the film is one of the
main features In my products and so by using the
same font, my audience will recognise my film just by
looking at the font of the title as they have seen it
reoccurred in many different media formats.
5. Features that link the 3
products together
On reflection I feel that this could have been a lot
more effective as the colour is different on each title,
the film poster has a bevel effect on the title and also
the title that appears in the film isn't capitalised
whereas the other 2 are. I found it difficult to keep the
title exactly the same as the change in background
meant that they couldn’t all be the same colour and
remain visible for my audience.
6. Features that link the 3
products together
Another link I have made is the images that appear on my
ancillary texts. On both my poster and review I chose to have
included snapshots of scenes in my film instead of taking new
images. This I feel works very effectively as it gives my audience
a sneak peek of what they will find in my film if they choose to
watch it. I had to think carefully when choosing which scenes to
snapshot as my film has very contrasting locations throughout.
With this I decided that all of my images that appear on both of
my ancillary texts had to either be from scenes shot in the rural
area or those shot in the urban area. In the end I decided to
choose images that show my protagonist in the rural area as I
thought that they would be more eye catching on my film poster
and film review. If I had used images depicting scenes in the
urban area for one of my texts my audience may be confused
because they may not know what film is being advertised to them
as the scenes looks so different that it could be mistaken for a
different film.
